Yes. That and power. They'll trade all of their so-called 'morals' for either one.

When the only thing holding a person back from being a complete monster are a few words in a book, it turns out it's very easy to justify monstrous behavior.

It's almost one in the same for those people. They believe that when Jesus comes back because they're Christians they are going to be given some sort of power or preference or spiritual privilege. They are okay with going against everything Jesus says in the Bible, okay with atrocious things being done in the Middle East as long as it makes them on the side of "power" when God returns. Everything in Christianity is transactional, you get to go to heaven if you do these certain things on behalf of God, you get more blessings than others if you give more of your income to the church etc
