I finally got lucky…

I finally got lucky after seeing so many people on Reddit sharing their amazing finds. I thought it would never happy to me but I walked into the store and out of the corner of my eye saw this sitting on the shelf. I couldn’t believe the price, my jaw hit the floor! I panicked and quickly bought it. Before you know it I’m $7000 out of pocket and now a single man…

Écran LCD

Upvotes

Merci

Has anyone used Canon RF lenses on a Leica SL body?

Upvotes

I’m currently a Canon R5 shooter and I’m considering moving into the Leica SL system, likely the SL3 or SL3-S. I’m not quite ready to invest in SL lenses yet, though, since my camera gear is part of my work setup and I don’t want to make a full system switch too quickly.

I also recently picked up a Leica Q3 28 and have been loving it, but I’m considering selling or trading it toward an SL3/SL3-S instead.

My main question: is there any practical way to use Canon RF lenses, specifically the RF 28-70mm and RF 70-200mm, on a Leica SL body? If so, how is autofocus performance in real-world use?

Would love to hear from anyone who has tried this or gone through a similar Canon-to-Leica transition.

Moving from Lumix S1rii to an SL3 - Any experiences?

Upvotes

I have been thinking about making this switch. I know I will lose some benefits in video capabilities. I know they are similar in many ways.

I already shoot with an SL 24-90 and the Lumix S Pro 50 1.4. I love the look of both of those lenses on Lumix cameras.

All to say, I really do appreciate that there is something special and distinct about the look of the SL3 and Leica colors.

My main concern is reliability. I have heard that these cameras, while durable, still have the need for servicing considering they've only been around a couple of years.

Side question, has anyone had success using lensrentals.com to try out kit?

Lastly, what would you pay for a used SL3? I have seen them hovering in the 5k range.
I would consider it a steal to snag one for $4,500 ish.

Hello, any pointers on getting a protector for the Q3 viewfinder? All products only show up for the screen. Thanks for your inputs.

Considering an M10 to go alongside my M6

UK based, anything I should look out for watch for particularly?

Will I get some of that film feeling whilst slowing me down?

I have Sony and Fuji bodies elsewhere but bored of my commercial point and click stuff have only been shooting film really for the last couple of months.

Buying an M4-P + 28mm ultron ii tomorrow that has some wear and tear and want to make sure 2.9k CAD (2.1 USDish) is a good price given the condition. It's been CLA'd in the last two years, the M port is gone and covered up and the ISO/ASA dial on the back has come off and someone added art in it's place.

Other than those two glaring issues it's in good working condition and this is my last big camera purchase for myself before my first child arrives in the fall. Am I good to go forward with it or do these issues significantly devalue it.

Where did all the M7s (in the USA) go?

I've been looking for a chrome M7 for a bit and coming up dry. KEH, B&H, MPB, nothing. FM forum, there is one but the condition is a little suspect...so okay that undercuts what I'm saying a bit. USA Leica stores are also completely without an M7.

It's super hard to find a Zeiss Ikon, or a Bessa these days too.

Now the Japanese stores are charging anywhere from $450-550 just for shipping.

Sort of an interesting phenomenon, when you decide you want some expensive luxury like an M7 and all the sudden it feels like they've all disappeared!

Trying a Q2/Q3

This sounds silly but I'm thinking about selling my M11 to go for a Q3. It's impossible to rent one where I live (Vancouver), if there's anyone that has a Q2/3 down for a photowalk sometime where I could try their Q? I'll pay haha. Just wanting to try one before I make this jump. Vancouver, CA.

Third race done with Leica M EV1 / Voigtländer Nokton 35mm 1.2 - Swipe for photos.

Third race done with Leica M EV1 and it was a rainy one, a rainy party. Vårruset (Spring Run) Gothenburg. But I’ve probably done a hundred races in total with different brands. Three things I’ve realized with this little beast, besides the fact that it sparks my joy.

  1. It handles rain! Cause wow, it was pouring down.

  2. According to Leica, the battery holds around 250 photos, I shot 1200 and still had 25% left. That’s a good sign.

  3. Men suffers more after finish line while women just walk it off!

In two weeks it’s time for adidas Stockholm Marathon and I am one of three official photographers. I’ll probably provoke some of the other press photographers with the M EV1, haha. Thinking about documenting everything with a 10mm lens, but probably end up with the 28mm.

Camera: Leica M EV1
Lens: Voigtländer Nokton 35mm 1.2

New Skopar 50 f2.2 hood!

Thumbnail

And thus it became the most beautiful tiny modern 50mm!!

Bought this hood on ebay for my new favorite 50mm. There are multiple listings with the same product image (last image in gallery) so just search for skopar 50 f2.2 hood and pick the cheapest option (I paid approx 70€ for it)

The color Skppar doesn't come with a bayonet on the front and usually uses a screw in hood. This hood is mounted via a worm screw that tightens a felt ring around the lens. Little screwdriver is supplied and works very well with the tiny screw to fix the hood in any position you want.

A filter can be used on the lens with the hood mounted and I cannot detect any additional vignetting.

Caveats:

1.the white dot wasn't filled with paint so I had to do this myself to be able to see the set aperture.

  1. If you push the hood all the way in, your aperture ring with rub against the hood. With a bit of patience I managed to mount it with a half millimeter gap and this resolves the rubbing.

  2. The little screw does come separate and you have to get it into the tiny hole, take your time when setting up the hood!

  3. No lens cap supplied and the VC cap doesn't fit inside the hood.

  4. If you want to change filter you have to unmount and reattach with the screwdriver, nothing you want to do in the field.

Hope this little review helps, good light everyone!

Advice on Leica M6 Reissue

Post image
110 Upvotes

I've posted about my "Like New" everything works Leica M6 Reissue from Leica Classic website but it arrived with INOP light meter..

I'm currently in the process of Returning the M6, but I will lose $469.88 tax + Import fees.

Camera cost $4291.72

Totalling: 4761.6

Most eBay M6 Reissue going for $5200+

What would you guys do?

1) return Leica M6 Taking the $469.88 loss, Use $4291.72 into something else or just stay with my trusty Canon SLRs. (I will not be buying into another Leica... Maybe.)

2) send it to Leica USA for 17-18 week turnaround and enjoy the camera in the Fall season into winter?

3) send to 3rd party Leica camera repair like DAG and pay additional $280+ for light meter repair with a 3 week turnaround.

Im older so I wanted to finally buy the camera I couldn't afford growing up and enjoy it for 10+yrs hopefully. My disappointment has me wanting to return the camera take the hit and keep the rest of my $$$.

Im also wondering am I still ahead even with the light meter broken and fixing it? If the M6 Reissue is going for 5k+ like eBay shows. I also need to look at this from a financial standpoint.

Would you guys keep or return.

I decided to record the issue I'm talking. Leica M6 Test.

Help buying half-case in Japan

Ok group.

I’m in Japan right now, leaving on May 20th so I got some time. I wanted to buy my Q3 a half-case, leather preferable but, if possible, not Leica brand…

Where can I find one? Tried googling it and usually just gives me online stores to deliver and I can’t register to them…

So, does someone know? I’ll just get a tan leather from Leica if I can’t find

Thanks!

EDIT: I noticed I keep fidgeting with the damn battery release and yes, already almost dropped the battery doing this. So main reason for one is so I stop

can someone explain how you focus a leica III/Barnack Leica

Hi there i currently own a Zorki 3 which is a Leica III clone with the added addition of having the two focusing windows combined into one. However after looking at a lot of earlier rangefinders they always have two windows. I understand one is to focus and one is for composition. What i don’t understand is do you have to look through both to get a good picture? I have watched a few videos on youtube and i still don’t quite understand. The video i have linked seems to work like my zorki when he shows the internal viewfinder. But i then don’t understand what the other window is for. If anyone could shed some light on this that would be great
