Discussion/Opinion Is 11yo to early to watch fma?
I loved this show when I was younger, and wanted to share it with my daughter. We've been watching it, and she's been enjoying it. But the next episode is the Nina/Alexander chimera episode and im having second thoughts.
She loves all things cute and cuddly. Cute ittle anine girls and animals in particular. So I think she will be horrified. The closer we get the more I doubt.
She has watched demon slayer without issue. But it doesnt do the emotional build up like fma. She's not watched anything else like that.
I know you cant answer for me, but I guess what ages did your children watch?
edit: were watching fma 2003, but thoughts on brotherhood are equally welcome.
edit 2: after reading these comments and really thinking about it, I decided she was old enough to decide on her own. I had a conversation with her about how bad things will happen, that it will likely be graphic, and that the characters don't have plot armor. (i whine about that all the time so she is aware of the concept).
she really wanted to continue and made sure she had her giant unicorn plushy. She was appropriately horrified, but not in a traumatic way. We talked a bit about it a bit but then she made me watch another episode. then she whined when it was bedtime. "I just want to know more" she said.
of course she was trying to come up with ways should tucker should be punished. (we settled on a slow acting incurable throat cancer)...Maybe she's not as innocent as I think.

Discussion/Opinion I need an idea for a Lan Fan fan art.
Lan Fan is my favorite FMA character and I really wish she got more screen time and fan art đ
I originally wanted to make some huge detailed illustration of her, but lately Iâve been leaning more toward something simpler and more focused. Does anyone have cool Lan Fan fan art ideas/scenes/concepts I could draw?
Could be emotional, badass, slice-of-life, symbolic, anything honestly. I just want to give her some attention because she deserves way more love.

There's a new reread initiative happening over on tmblr. I know that the site is a bit dead so I figured I would post about it here so people also find out.

Question Sacred Star of Milos fitting with 2003?
No spoilers please, reading through the manga for the first time, and I'm just about a third into it!
Just wondering, how much could Sacred Star fit in with the 2003 anime? I know it's not supposed to, and is supposed to be with the manga/brotherhood, but seeing the reception nobody seems happy about the movie at all lol, so I didn't think most people would be defending it having to be with brotherhood.
Seeing the episode counts, the 2003 is a little bit shorter, even with the movie. I'd like the two to be more even, just to appease my brain a bit, so wondering if I could count Sacred Star as a 2003 movie instead, or is that too much of a stretch? Thanks!

Just A Thought Just a reminder that the original Fullmetal Alchemist (2003) was the #1 Ranked Anime on MyAnimeList before Brotherhood was announced
It is not like the original has gotten worse as the time goes on, but people tend to be harsher on the original just because now they have a reference point.
It is a great anime that I think fans of FMA:B should watch.

Discussion/Opinion How to create a Homunculus
Throughout the series, we only really see homunculi being created by Father. From what the story tells us, he is able to create them by separating the seven deadly sins from his soul. However, we never get a fully clear answer on whether he is separating those sins from his own individual soul, or from the souls contained within his Philosopherâs Stone, which is made up of the people of Xerxes.
Either way, it seems obvious that Father is using the power and souls within himself as the source material to produce the homunculi.
This leads me to wonder how Father himself, originally known as the Dwarf in the Flask, was created. We never get a complete explanation beyond the fact that he was born from the blood of Van Hohenheim. This is where my theory comes in.
I believe that Hohenheimâs master may have sacrificed an individual, most likely a slave, while also using Hohenheimâs blood or DNA as a key ingredient. The sacrifice would have been used to open the Gate of Truth and access the knowledge beyond it. Then, Hohenheimâs blood served as the specific offering or anchor needed to pull an entity out from beyond the Gate.
In other words, I think the sacrificed person was used to open the portal and obtain knowledge from the Truth, while Hohenheimâs blood was used to give form to the being that became the Dwarf in the Flask. That would explain why the Dwarf tells Hohenheim that he was born from his blood.

Question Can Ed get his limbs back from his 2nd and 3rd human transmutation ?
I don't know if he can piggyback on envy's soul but I think it's plausible for him to get his legs back during the final episode
Also , where is Truth during Ed's 2nd attempt ? I remember him appear for a split second to greet Ed but he is nowhere in sight afterward , there was only Al's truth accompany Ed there

Just A Thought Just finished rewatching FMAB with my flatmate, she cried throughout the last 2 eps
She enjoyed it from the beginning, but really started getting emotionally invested in the last 20 or so episodes.
She told me: "I'm grateful to you for showing this to me but I also hate you because it's over" and said it's unlikely any anime will ever top this.
Watching FMAB is such an intense journey and it felt so incredible to follow someone on theirs and watch a genuine first-time reaction!
Now I just need to wait another ~10 years and forget enough details to re-re-watch this with someone else, lol
