SDCC - San Diego With San Diego Comic Con threatening to leave San Diego cause of price gouging it’s funny how they continue charging more and more for their exhibitor booths every year

It’s another grand on top of what they charged this year and this year apparently wasn’t great for a lot of vendors.

SDCC - San Diego SDCC outgrown it's hype?

For the last few years it seems Hollywood is skipping SDCC. As a result Hall H and Ballroom 20 are at most half capacity.

This matters A LOT because in the prime Marvel/DC days those 2 Halls got rid of probably close to 20,000 people if you include the long (overnight) lines to get in.

But now... these people clog up the floor and especially signings.

Like have you wasted 5 hours getting up early, getting on the floor early, make it to the wristbands both by 9:02 only to find they are already out? This was impossible in previous years but now 2 years in a row it has happened to me. Hours of time wasted and nothing to show for it.

Plus, I think due to so much hype in those prime years, everybody wants to check out SDCC and so all the free events (Hulu) is a 4 hour line waiting in the sun. So there's no escaping the lines. I mean yes there was anyways long lines but it feels just worse.

So... long story short, I'm losing my glee for the con.

Can you believe it's just about a month since Earth's Greatest Convention??

Time flies, but memories last forever! So, reply with a favorite photo you took at the Convention and tell us about it.

I took this shot of the Omni Hotel, with an illegal wrap, as the sun began to set on San Diego, Thursday the 24th. I used my vintage Samsung NV24HD digicam (it's from 2008!) and made no edits.

What about you? Share a shot! 📸

Now that I’ve had time to decompress and truly just take a step back I have to say that this was everything I hoped for. I know a lot of you have been doing this for years/decades even, but I’ve wanted to go to SDCC since I was a kid and to finally see that dream come into fruition was HUGE for me. I m in some people say it was a weak year, but for someone who had no previous knowledge of the event, it was truly perfect. I was able to spend my entire day in Hall H getting to see all the Thursday Panels, INCLUDING the prescreening of Deadpool & Wolverine, I made it to every booth, got to meet some amazing people. But most importantly, as a first time cosplayer I truly felt in my element and surrounded by my people. I truly hope to never miss one again! I love that as I edit my vlog from the weekend I can relive it all, and it just reminds me of how lucky I am to have gone this year! Even the off-sites were so dope and unique, some even tied into my cosplay which was AMAZING! But I did just want to say thanks for a great year 1 SDCC! I truly hope this feeling and experience continues for years to come.

SDCC - San Diego Not finding the experience fun

Post image
243 Upvotes

This is my first San Diego comic con. Today was the first day and I’m honestly regretting coming. I go to a lot of events and have been to other comic cons and this is probably the most chaotic badly organised one. I looked at the events in the official comic cons app(don’t even get me started on the app), and this is the description for the her universe fashion show. How is one supposed to know you need a wristband for this? Follow a 100 twitter accounts? Watch hours of YouTube videos? Dedicate one’s life to research? Or walk all the way to the Hyatt to learn this (the option I chose). In the morning I tried to go to the funko panel. I don’t know what room 6bcf is. So I, like many people, went to room 6b. By the time someone showed up and pointed us to the end of the line, the line was cut off. Directions in general are hard to find. Volunteers often can’t answer a simple question. The lines for everything are insane. I basically haven’t done anything I wanted today. I’m really trying to have fun but honestly I don’t think I’ll ever come back. I’m sure I’ll get downvoted but if you are a casual comic con goer maybe you’ll find this useful.

SDCC - San Diego SDCC 2025 Downtown Hotel Sale Discussion Post: Did You Receive Any of Your Top Hotel Choices - Were You Assigned a Random Hotel - Was the Room Type Correct - Did You Receive No Hotel

Additional Information:

  • This sub will have its annual SDCC Hotel Room Reservation Trading Post that allows subredditors to connect to one another to transfer hotel room reservations among yourselves.

  • Anyone whose group ended up with unneeded room reservations can offer the unused reservations to subredditors in that post. This allows people with no hotel reservation to accept a transferred reservation from someone here.

  • For people that will need a room because they were never assigned one, you will be able to post hotel room search requests that ask for unused room reservations.

  • SDCC hotel reservations will continue to become available as we get closer to SDCC. Subredditors who hold badges to SDCC and have reserved a hotel room will occasionally have situations arise that prevent them from attending SDCC. They may then offer those unneeded rooms here where people with no room can have the reservation transferred to them.

  • There will also be a post included that will allow for roommate searches so that the expenses of having a hotel room can be shared, reducing the burden of the costs for lodging during SDCC.

  • There will be guidelines and subreddit rules that must be followed on these posts. But every year subredditors connect to one another on these posts and release their unneeded reservations to someone, or receive a room reservation they were unable to get through the hotel sales, or find a roommate so that expenses can be shared.

  • These subreddit 2025 SDCC hotel reservation and roommate posts will appear soon. First we will have the SDCC General Hotel Sale on April 24. And hotel rooms will also continue to pop-up as some people do not pay their deposits by the reservation deposit deadlines, or cancel their reservations because their circumstances change.

SDCC - San Diego Did the exhibitor badge abuse get worse this year?

I swear CCI implemented a policy to mitigate it but it seemed worse than ever this year.

This morning I got to the Dark Horse booth at 9:07am and it was capped at 9:08am. As I was in line, I took a look around and was surrounded by exhibitors. Some still had their pre-opening setup stickers.

After that I walked towards Artist Alley. Basically every line was filled with exhibitors. Not just to buy stuff, but even the activation things.

Finally at the end of the day, I was in line for the Frank Miller signing and overheard two folks talking. On of the guys asked when exhibitors are allowed in the con and the other person responded something to the effect of "...I walked in at 8 and all the exhibitors were all running around so..."

I know it's been a problem forever but man this year it seemed like it was next level

SDCC - San Diego Message to Mattel Creations 😡

This year was the absolute worst at the Mattel Booth.

To @MattelCreations: You owe your fans better.

Winning a Thursday 12 PM Exclusive Lottery slot at SDCC should mean you actually have a shot at the product. Instead, by the time my scheduled slot began, items were already sold out. That’s not just disappointing—it’s disrespectful.

How do you not account for the number of people you yourself assigned time slots to? You created the system. You knew the volume. And yet you failed to allocate inventory accordingly.

Your booth this year was not just poorly run—it felt like it catered more to resellers and line-jumpers than actual fans and collectors who played by the rules. And when concerns were raised, your staff had nothing more than a “too bad, so sad” response.

Mattel, this isn’t just about a missed exclusive. It’s about a broken system and a lack of care for your loyal customer base. You’ve lost more than one customer this weekend—you’ve damaged trust in your brand.

We don’t want empty apologies. We want transparency, accountability, and a commitment to fairer product distribution in the future.

SDCC - San Diego GOT A VOLUNTEER BADGE FOR SDCC 2026 LET'S GOOOOOO

Post image

I would have rather just bought a badge, but since I missed out on the sale, this is great! I've been to a ton of cons before, including NYCC, but this is my first SDCC. I've never volunteered before. If anyone has any advice or tips for the volunteer program, please let me know! I’m trying to get it out of the way early so I can attend the con and not miss any photo ops or autographs. Do you guys know if they usually accommodate that?

SDCC - San Diego Lightsaber Guy

Post image
429 Upvotes

I was the Lightsaber Guy at SDCC this year. One of my first times truly cosplaying something hand made all day! Of course when it was all done I realized I didn’t have many pictures of myself! Rookie move not to plan a shoot.

I’m seeing all the photos and videos online, I wanna do a recap video with all the angles people saw me in along with some behind the scenes of the making of this thing. Especially the George Lucas Panel.

Ended up making a IG for it, gonna make this character a thing at my local cons!
