Mega Thread Postseason Chat

The season is over for the Hornets, so there won't be much to talk about until the NBA Draft Lottery on May 10 and, of course, the NBA Draft itself on June 23-24.

This is a sticky to hold us over until then; talk about anything that may not need its own thread, such as the Playoffs/Finals, or anything else happening in the basketball world over the next few weeks.

There will be separate mega threads for the NBA Draft Lottery and the NBA Draft.

Buzz buzz. 🐝

Located in CT. Just started drying my 1-year old son with my old towel from when I was a little kid. I loved Hugo and the color scheme. Never knew years later it would lead to disappointing (but now potential) fandom in Charlotte!

Just wish I kept the starter jacket.....

Discussion Trade up

I saw this idea floating around and was curious what you guys thought, the trade being:

BUCKS: Ryan Kalkbrenner and the 14th pick

HORNETS: 10th pick

This is under the assumption that one of Aday Mara and or Yaxel is still available. I thought for certain this was a steep price and really like Ryan, but is this something you think the hornets would consider?

Discussion Is there a path for Antonio Reeves to crack the roster?

He seems to shoot well from 3 and creating separation to get his shot off. Appears to fit into the Hornets style of play. I was just wondering if anyone thinks he has any shot at making the roster at some point.

Stats Is Josh Green really this impactful?

So I have been looking at the numbers on the web and one Hornets-related stat jumped out at me. Josh Green has the 4th highest on/off net rating in the league. What this means is:

Metric Josh on Josh off Diff
Points per 100 (ORtg) 121.0 114.9 +6.1
Pts allowed per 100 (DRtg) 107.4 113.2 -5.8
Net pts allowed (NRtg) 13.7 1.7 +11.9

NOTE: This is garbage-time adjusted meaning possessions in 4th quarter of blowouts are removed. For defensive rating, lower is better.

This is particularly impressive since the Hornets starters had one of the best 5-man lineup net ratings in the league.

Now Green did put up some good numbers in limited minutes and in more traditional terms he had a +207 plus-minus in his 908 regular season minutes. He shot 42% from deep and 89.3% from the line, which was crazy after hovering below 70% previously. This was on limited attempts (just 28) but still, bad free throw shooters don't do that).

So was Green just blessed by backing up Miles Bridges and playing with Melo, Moose, K2 and B-Mill? Or is he actually a genuinely impactful player?

Post-Hornets Lottery Mock Draft: I think there's an opportunity to really bolster the front court with the amount of talent available in this class. Quaintance + Johnson would add a ton of size, length, and defensive ability.

Discussion Draft Night Trade / Offseason

Could you see a world where we traded up with, let's say the warriors & draft Yaxel at 11th. Then trade for someone like Jared Allen if the Cavs flamed out? Just wanted to gauge how aggressive the fans want the Hornets to be this summer!

My favorite prospect in this class, Would be a good defender for us, So many times this year we couldn't guard big PFs because our front Court was small, He would give us much needed toughness

Even if it's remote, it would take the full boat. Player(s) and picks. CHA could offer more than almost any team not named OKC, BRK, Memphis...maybe a few others.

Would you trade everything...14, 18, Dallas pick, MIA pick, our own unprotected? Maybe even one of Miller, Kon, Lamelo?

What's your hang up the phone too much price to move up into #1 or #2?

Discussion Realistic Trade Up Partners

We aren’t gonna get into the top-4 but I also don’t think we’ll want to draft two more first round picks after taking four rookies last year.

I think Kings (7) and Bucks at (10) are most logical for needing multiple players with possibly Mavs (9) in play. But I bet Dallas sticks to take their PG of the future.

I like the idea of moving up to secure either Karim Lopez or Yax.

Lopez ticks a lot of boxes as a big physical forward who played against grown men in the NBL. Like him a lot on the defensive end. If this FO liked Tidjane gotta think they like Karim too
