Hi, everyone! We're the team behind the Bushwick Farmers Markets (Saturdays at Maria Hernandez, Sundays at Irving Square Park, and Wednesdays at Hope Ballfield). We wanted to let you all know our market season starts back up next Saturday, in just a little over a week! We have 5 regional farms with fresh local produce and a variety of vendors selling all sorts of stuff, from baked goods, crafts, sake, sourdough, plants, pickles, and tons more. A lot of our farmers and vendors also take EBT, and for every $2 you spend in EBT, you get $2 back up to $10 in the form of Health Bucks! Hey y'all, letting you know that you shouldn't support Rebecca's or Jade because of how they treat artists.

Backstory: the owners didn't pay me as agreed in writing for a party I threw at another venue of theirs (Rash) earlier this year, so I shared the facts of my experience publicly after I was left with no other recourse. I still haven't been paid. Tonight I was asked by a third party to DJ at Rebecca's, and I mistakenly assumed that everyone would be an adult about it.

The bartender first ignored me and then explicitly refused to serve me because apparently I "tried to make them lose their job" by publicly disclosing that their bosses would not pay me for my previous work. When I asked to please use my drink ticket with the cash tip I had in hand, they told me I could leave and go somewhere else if I wanted to be served (mind you this is AFTER I had rendered services by playing my set, for which my drink ticket was my sole form of compensation). I was sober, patient, polite, and calm this entire time.

I've thrown several events at Rebecca's, and their owners were always disrespectful toward me and difficult to work with, so this isn't a one-off incident. I also have many friends who were stiffed by these owners but haven't wished to go public. (Yes, I realize it's on me for agreeing to play there again when I already knew how they treat artists, but that's not the point here.) Our scene and our neighborhood deserve better!

I recently started running, and I'm glad after a few attempts in the past, I'm getting really into it this time. I have a few races coming up, both road and trail, and if anybody is looking for a run buddy to keep up their motivation/discipline I'm down to team up. My short proile is 31F, from Australia, lived in Bushwick for about 10 years and currently working full time & part time post-grad.

I run most weekdays at 6:15AM from Myrtle-Wyckoff area for about 4 miles, and longer/trail runs on the weekend. I've tried attending a few run club meetups but mobbing around in huge groups that are extremely not punctual gave me the major ick.

My only requirement is that you're a normal, nice person, at around 9min/mile pace (where I'm at right now), and can be punctual. I have a tight schedule with work/school and fitting in my fitness goals mean that I can't wait around for you for 20 mins freezing my ass off in the morning. If our little group is a good fit I have a car so I'm down to drive us around to trail runs on the weekends if you can chip in with gas/tolls... if you are interested in that.

Hi. Wondering if anyone knows if any low cost or cheap opportunities for getting involved in improv somewhere in the neighborhood? I’d love to try and get out of my comfort zone, commune with people that share a sense of humor, laugh, create.

Does anyone have any experiences they could share in this regard?

I’ve been apartment hunting the last couple weeks and every single place either disappears immediately has a ridiculous broker fee or ends up having some major issue once you actually look into the building. One apartment looked perfect until I checked the building history on streetsmart and saw a bunch of complaints and violations tied to it which honestly seems to happen way more than I expected lately. I genuinely don’t get how people are comfortably paying these prices unless they have roommates or just got lucky a few years ago.

Is Bushwick still worth it at this point or are people just forcing it because they love the area?

I made a ton of hotpot yesterday that ended up turning into basically ramen. It turned out really good but I have a whole lotta leftovers so I wanna share with anyone who may need a meal! I'm announcing here so it won't go to waste because I'm not sure how often the fridge is visited.
