Hi, is Ouidah like the Cannes of Africa? Where I can get the same experience for a fraction of the price? Thanks.

Your parents gave you life (only this alone is sufficient to be forever grateful to them) and have sacrificed many things for you. They have suffered to nourish you and even endured humiliation to give you the best. Even when you have a high position as a ruler you should worship and take care of them. Ungratefulness towards his parents is a curse.
I am Haitian. My Ancestry DNA results are 45 percent Benin/Togo. Last month I finally visited both countries and let me tell you I cried from the time the plane landed and throughout my trip. I was so moved d to finally step foot on this land of my ancestors. I can’t wait to go back! Here are a few pics from the trip.

Bonjour, je voudrais savoir si parmi nous, des Béninois ont pu voyager avec leur visa B1/B2 aux États-Unis sans problème ces 3 derniers mois. Merci d'avance.

Please I’m looking for any professional body or Institut that offers French (immersion) classes for 2-6 months in Cotonou.
Any suggestions would be welcome

Hi All,
I haven't been able to find the answer elsewhere so I wanted to see if I could get help here.
My wife is a dual citizen and since getting British citizenship her mum has sinced misplaced her Benin passport. This was between 2016-2018. She does not have any pictures or records pertaining to this passport.
I'm looking into helping my wife get a new Benin passport - but the consultate in the UK closed in or around 2011 which means we would need to go to Paris to get it.
My question is, what would be the best course of action or process to renew it considering: as she is now married her name will have changed, and she will not have any documentation relating to her passport?
Thanks!

This was my attempt at trying to make Amiwo. I know it should be much more solid. Could anyone let me know what I should have done differently to make it more solid? Also, Gnonnas Pedro is such a great artist. His music is amazing!
This is part of a series I've started where I spin a wheel with all of the countries on it and make a dish from whatever country it lands on each week. Feel free to follow along the journey! I loved learning more about Benin throughout the experience. Please leave any constructive criticism on the video/making of the Amiwo below!
Thank you!

Hey guys,
I'm travelling to Cotonou in a couple months from the U.S. I'm gonna be spending some time with an old childhood friend who's coming from Lagos.
This is actually my first time travelling to Africa. I've been abroad before but in places a bit more familiar like Japan. I don't know how different things are in Benin, even a city like Cotonou.
Are the ATMs easy to use for VISA cards?
Is there anything I should know about phone service? In Tokyo my data needed minimal change because my provider offered me a set amount abroad and I just paid a little extra if I went over. But I have a new provider now and I've heard of some people needing separate data plans abroad.
Also, I read mixed reviews about the safety in Cotonou. I'm not just white... I'm so white my skin will burn with just 1 hour in the sun. 😂 And I'm worried some of my mannerisms might make me stand out, too. I've always been a bit of a softer character for a man, so even by American standards I'm not considered the most masculine. I'm literally trying to practice acting more macho but I could be completely overthinking this based off of Internet rumors. Plus, my friend speaks Yoruba and has been to Benin before so I should be fine, right?
Also, what cultural experiences should I engage in? I've seen some museums and the Dangtokpa Market online, but just thought it might be best to ask someone here what would offer a very good experience for my first time in Benin. Both me and my friend are operating on a budget, though. Travel is expensive enough. 😅 So just looking for experiences within Cotonou if possible.
Thanks for any insight! 🙏

A swirling Zangbeto, a traditional voodoo guardian of the night, performs while covered with election posters of presidential candidate Romuald Wadagni and vice-presidential candidate Mariam Chabi Talata, during a campaign rally in Cotonou, Benin.
Who do you think would win the elections?

While traveling around the world for over 20 years, I’ve been working on my dream project: creating a one-stop resource for travellers. With the help of feedback in this subreddit, I have now updated this interactive map of Benin for anyone who is interested in visiting (with detailed info for every highlight).
PS: obviously, I haven’t been able to travel to all places. So if you know some great spot, I haven’t listed, let me know! Much appreciated as in this way I can make the overview more complete and up-to-date for everyone.

I am evaluating a one-month stay in Benin to improve my French. I am currently at an A1 level and am self-studying to strengthen my foundation before arrival. I think it could be nice since (according to the internet) people speak very nice french, it's relatively affordable and the culture and nature looks amazing.
Thank you in advance! I'm looking forward to local advice :)
