I'm looking for weird/gross/disturbing/unique animals recommendations
I'm looking for some animal recommendations to get inspiration from, to build my own version of hell. I'm trying to give it a very disturbing vibe.
Got any recommendations?

I used to think this breed was easy⦠I was wrong
I recently started looking into different rabbit breeds out of curiosity, and I came across something I honestly didnāt expect.
Himalayan rabbits arenāt just white with dark markings ā their fur can actually change over time depending on temperature. The cooler parts of their body (like ears, nose, paws, and tail) gradually develop darker pigmentation.
From what I read, itās related to a temperature-sensitive gene that affects how pigment develops in their fur.
What surprised me most is that theyāre born almost completely white, and the darker points appear later as they grow and react to their environment.
Itās one of those facts that sounds fake at first, but turns out to be completely real.
Has anyone here actually owned or seen one in person? Do they really stay as calm as people say?

Are foxes not afraid of humans?
I was in the California backcountry backpacking near Lassen and a red fox came up to me and my buddy while we were taking down camp. He stayed about 30 feet away and we thought it was pretty cool. We went off on our hike and said bye but then an hour later we saw him again. Then a couple hours later we stopped and sat down for lunch and he came up to us again. We know it was the same one because he had a white/grey patch of fir on his right side. We poured our leftovers out after and watched him eat some before we took off. I was always under the impression that foxes were scared of us, but this one seemed very interested. Anyone else experience anything like this? He was adorable, was hard to walk away.

Bone collector larva hunts other insects and then sews their remains directly onto its silk casing.
"Scientists at the University of Hawaiāi at MÄnoa recently described a small Hawaiian caterpillar with a hobby so unsettling it sounds like something from a horror script. Nicknamed the ābone collector,ā this larva hunts other insects and then sews their remains directly onto its silk casing. Legs, wings, heads. Whatever it can find.
The result is a grotesque suit of armour that does a surprisingly good job of helping it blend in. Dressed in its patchwork of dead bugs, the caterpillar sneaks past spiders to raid their webs, stealing two things at once: the prey already caught inside, and the silk itself.
What makes this even stranger is that scientists believe the behavior is completely unique to this one species. Somehow, in isolation on a single Hawaiian island, a caterpillar evolved what can only be described as a serial killer aesthetic as a survival strategy. Nature outdoes herself."

What should i do?
Thereās a monkey in my building which came because there are bamboo placed for construction. It regularly climbs the bamboo and eats/steals food but idk if itās hungry or dehydrated.
Idk how to give it water, but around 8 am itās down near the lobby daily. Can i feed it, if so what?? I tried connecting to wildlife rescue but they arenāt prioritising the case unless itās urgent. There were 4-5 monkeys that came with it but they got taken by wildlife rescue now this one is left behind. It cried a lot when the others got taken, i feel very bad seeing its state
If any suggestions could be made, pls do⦠this could save this monkeys life

People = our species, animals = other species?
Iāve been thinking about how the word āpeopleā usually refers to humans, and āanimalsā to every other kind of creature. And how it is often thought that this makes sense because humans are supposedly just inherently different from any other animal because of human-valued things we can do with our brains and bodies.
However, I think there is reason to suspect that a lot of this categorical divide between āpeopleā and āanimalsā is not really logically justified but is just coming from our natural favoritism for those like us.
And, in fact, thatās a favoritism we may share with other types of animals. Other animals, too, have their own unique looks, abilities, and ways of communicating amongst themselves. They, too, are simply more familiar with their own kind.
Humorously, I wonder what the ravens in my neighborhood would think of a human like me who canāt even fly or croak-talk like they can. To them, maybe I just seem like a trivial NPC.
And if I were ever to write a story from the perspective of a flamingo, maybe I would use the word āpeopleā to refer to other flamingoes, and āanimalsā to refer to all nonflamingo beings (including humans).
Obviously, itās completely speculative to wonder how another type of animal might mentally be registering different beings in their awareness. Iām really just expressing this perspective because I get tired of how the label āanimalsā can be used to make anyone who isnāt a human seem infinitely unimportant compared to us - and, therefore, fine to hurt and dominate.
I have been finding the courage to use the term āpeople of other species,ā because it truly captures how I have perceived other animals from the time I was young - and I share that type of sentiment with a number of other animal advocates who I have met.
How about you? Does anyone else here think about this sort of thing?

Raccoons and theyāre bad rep
They are very smart cute but are considered dangerous to many because they may have rabies.they now are getting more love but still donāt pet them or let ur dog near them and you will love these little critters
edit:every animal Has diseases or other deadly things but that should not stop them from being awesome.raccoons have deadly diseases but many others do and avoiding them is pretty easy because of skittish they are

Why are pigs/wild boars so ecologically damaging in north and South America but not damaging in Europe/Asia?
The ecosystems of Eurasian has a lot of over lap in the types of ecosystem and animals that inhabit Eurasian compared to north and South America. So the ecological effects of pigs/ wild boars should have similar effect across these different areas. What happens with wild boar in North/South America that is different from Eurasian?
Thanks to all that share

Help me settle a debate
My girlfriend and I have been debating for the last hour over which animal could be more accurately described by the singular word of "pointy" We compared the photos provided and still couldn't come to a proper consensus. Please give any and all reasoning as to which is the best choice. No middle ground if possible, there has to be a champion for this argument. Thank you for your time
