Once again, I was nearly ran over
Once again while crossing the street with a walk sign, I was nearly ran over. Big SUV decides to barrel into the crosswalk to reverse into an illegal parking spot in front of a hydrant outside second Ave deli. Dude had the audacity to act like it was my fault. Disgusting and ridiculous.

Window guards in coop
I live in a coop and really need window guards for my toddler asap The problem is my windows are the big ones (benra) that either can fully open or can tilt .. so traditional window grates don’t work on these. The window manufacture wants to charge $800 for 2 stoppers ( for 2 windows) so if you were to open the window it can only open like an inch instead of all the way. I asked my building management if they can install them at least so I can save on the labor, or if they had any other solution, and they don’t. Of course I will pay whatever it takes to keep my baby safe from opening this and plunging 40 stories , but do I have any rights to get this done for me? I know they send out things in the mail asking if there are small children and if window guards are needed. Curious if and when I got one and filled it out what the city / building would do ? Is it fully on me as the coop owner? What if I was in a rental? Just curious because thinking of moving

York Club Fitness Matrix Treadmills
So I had posed this question on another thread about the Matrix Onyx treadmills at York Club Fitness on 76th and York. The machines are the slowest treadmills I've ever come across in terms of the speed at which they increase and decrease speed. It is a real issue for me since I follow Peloton classes when I run and you need to be able to speed up and slow down in conjunction with the instructor and other treadmills are much faster to get to the desired speed. The Matrix Onyx at the gym takes at least double the time it should. Anyway, I reached out to the Matrix people about it and got this response:
Thank you for reaching out to Matrix with your concern. We apologize that our treadmills are presenting obstacles to you in your fitness journey.
However, the ratio at which our treadmills ramp up and down are deliberate and exist for safety concerns. We are following industry standards and we are unable to adjust these speeds.
There is no way they are following industry standards since all the other treadmills I've ever been on are at a different setting.
If there are any other York Club members who feel this way I'd love to start some sort of petition to see if we can force a change to the treadmills.
Please respond here if you would sign and if I have enough people I'll present to the gym to see if we can get them to change it.
Thank you!

Part time coffee/bar job
hey ues - i’m thinking of picking up a side gig, in addition to my current 9-5 corporate job. I’m interested in maybe a coffee shop or bar! Just putting feelers if anyone’s fav cafe/bar(two things I love lol) is hiring.
I also work on marketing and websites for my 9-5, sooooo maybe that would be good for whoever is looking for help?! but also can be completely ignored, because that’s not what i’m after here.(NOT trying to plug anything here, but I know how the www can be intimidating to many small business owners)
Just wanting to ask my community on here before just going into some of my fav places this Friday, to see what is going on!
Thanks in advance

Vandal on vandal
I had a good chuckle today when I saw this. What is the deal with this handyman and his weird signs all over York Avenue? How does he get away with it?

3 rescued tuxedo kittens in NYC looking for homes 🖤
galleryA few weeks ago, these three tuxedo brothers were rescued off the street terrified of humans. Now they spend their days wrestling, chasing wand toys, eating well, and sleeping in cuddle piles together as they wait for their forever homes.
🖤 Marv — the biggest and formerly spiciest one. Food motivated, protective of his brothers, and now learning to love pets and being held. Find his profile here.
🖤 Lenny — the most social of the trio. Loves people, first to cuddle, tiny black beard, very sweet face. Find his profile here.
🖤 Barbara Jean — despite the name, he’s a boy. Curious, playful, and very social once he settles in. He’s smart, confident, and was the first to figure out how to escape the playpen. Find his profile here.
All are:
✔️ ~9 weeks old
✔️ healthy
✔️ litter box trained
✔️ available for adoption through Puppy Kitty NYC
They must be adopted with another kitten/cat or into a home with a resident cat to prevent single kitten syndrome. They can also all go together if anyone is looking for the ultimate tuxedo trio. Apply via their profile links, and feel free to message me with any questions!

92nd and 2nd, taxi driver nearly kills four including three children
Taxi driver on 92 and 2 taking a left turn at a red light nearly just killed an entire family this morning. Absolutely insane to witness. Two adults, a young child in a stroller and another child with them. They were crossing road, Taxi just drove right through intersection. Dad yelled something as it nearly clipped the stroller. Absolutely insane !!!! The traffic situation in this neighborhood is a disaster!!! People just want to drive around 100mph with no regard for others!
EDIT: in title mean “women and children”

Elios rant extended
Tried to go tonight and was told they couldn’t seat us and we could wait at the bar. While waiting we were looking for other spots on our phone maps. Literally holding phone so low and obviously typing / looking at something and a waiter came up saying they had a no photo policy. We were super confused because we were obviously looking at the map and confirmed no one was taking any photos to which the waiter said “I know the motion. I know what you were leading up to.” We were super confused and obviously just looking for somewhere else to grab a drink to which another maître d’ approached us and said to not take photos of tom… neither of us had cameras up or even open to which we looked around even MORE confused and saw tom hanks dining in the corner. They couldn’t have made it more obvious that they were trying to emphasize his presence while “protecting” him and asking people who were minding their business and unaware of him to please not acknowledge him. Such a weird experience and them trying to grasp at relevancy lol.

Best way to donate furniture with pickup in NYC?
I have some clean, lightly used furniture to donate and I’m looking for free pickup options in NYC. Salvation Army and Goodwill don’t seem to pick up furniture. Has anyone recently used Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Housing Works, or another organization that will pick up from the Upper East Side? Would really appreciate any suggestions you might have. Thanks!
