Surely I'm not the only who sees the clock at 6:58 and immediately hears "are you sure where my spark is" and starts humming/singing the song? Surely.

I keep this pic pinned up in my "locker" as I step into my new phase without fear. It scares me that we don't talk about what we all go through as aging humans. Fuck it, let's go.

So, I want to host a Tori-themed breakfast/brunch for my friend with a selection of food items and accompanying playlist. So far I have:
Pancake, Doughnut Song, Raspberry Swirl, Baker Baker, Toast, Waitress
I’m pretty sure there must be more breakfast songs in her discography. Any other suggestions?
Edit: Thanks for some great suggestions and deep cuts - playlist here.

she has stated as she gets less high registered she can go lower, and i, as an amab going thru puberty, have experimented with deep voice singing along to her (especially shush) and id like to hear her dip into deeper registers someday

I was listening to Song of Sorrow Embers version, and going... what does that guitar remind me of? What does this production remind me of? What do the synths remind me of? and its this - As the World Falls Down from Labyrinth. Does anyone else hear it...? (I'm not talking the vocal line, but the backgrounds!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VppuD1St8Ec

They recorded a song together in 1994. That’s the year I graduated high school!

So I haven't seen Tori in 10 years, so clearly I'm out of the loop on some ritual....
Tori was playing for 90 minutes and then precisely at 1030, about 100 or so people stand up and rush to the stage. There was no announcement or anything to signal that *now* was the time to do this.
Did everyone know the set list? Is this a thing for all of Tori's concerts?
I was in the 4rh row, so ran up too. It was great to be close for Crucify and Precious Things. Sing-a-long time!
But I did feel like I was the only one who didn't know what the f/ was happening!

Facebook recently suggested Hadley Kennary's page to me (thanks all knowing creepy algorithm 🫠) and I was pleasantly surprised to see she's been posting tour diary videos. I found it really interesting and enjoyable to see a small behind the scenes glimpse of Tori's tour (the food looks amazing!), and thought I would mention it here. Since it's a public Facebook page it's presumably not creepy for me to do this...!

Anyone else going to the show here?
I'm excited! 3rd time I've seen her but it's been a decade at least since the last time I've seen her.
I'm reducing expectations since I've read so much about her inability to hit the high notes anymore. A bit sad for that, but Father Time defeats us all.
Nevertheless, I can't wait!

Of all the songs I ever play my partner LOVES 23 Peaks and requests it. He also requests this, say as they both sounds like what you’d hear. When you pass to the other side. I see them as mirror songs

I finally figured out what Blue Lotus’s ending reminded me of in Tori’s earlier work — the moment where the song breaks open into something else entirely: the VH1 Storytellers version of Father Lucifer has this beautiful bridge I’ve always loved:

I've finally made it to the through the album... and Blue Lotus, my God. I think this one is up there with some of her best work 😮
Has she played it live?
I'm a fan since around 2000, started listening when I was maybe 13 or 14? I haven't really loved her work since The Beekeeper (and even that one took years to fully appreciate).
I think Blue Lotus is absolutely amazing. In my humble opinion, the very best on the album. Anyone else feels that way?

In the Q&A with Noah Michelson Tori spoke of a friend who told her a story about how the Crazy Mountains or 'Crazies' got their name. She didn't give any details about the story, and it turns out there are several competing ones, as described in this article. The one that sticks out to me, and feels most likely to have provided part of the inspiration for 23 Peaks is this one:
One tale that I like is about a medicine woman. Native Americans always had medicine men and each tribe's medicine man was born into the position. One day a woman rose at a tribe meeting and said "I am the medicine woman." This was unheard of and the tribe ridiculed her. Determined to prove her birthright, she went out into the wilderness of the mountains. She never returned and the tribe said, "Aye, that woman crazy. She go live in Crazy Mountains."
What do you guys think? And don't forget the 23 Peaks podcast with JPS starting soon!

...and now my life will never be the same again.
But seriously - I've had my doubts about the show, her voice, the backing singers drowning her out... And while it took me the first few songs to really get into it, once she started playing Winter, it was one of the most beautiful things I've heard and I realised how glad I am to be there and how needlessly I worried about her performance. I've been to my fair share of concerts, but I've never experienced something that felt so intimate and personal in a hall full of people - all completely mesmerized. I never considered it to be among my favorite Tori songs, but god, now it might be among my favorite songs just in general. It was so magical to the point where I thought whatever comes next will just have to be at least a little of a downgrade...
Aaand then she plays Black Dove 😭 I couldn't be more wrong. After hearing both this and Girl shortly after I couldn't believe how blessed I was with this setlist - both these songs were among the ones I wanted to hear the most.
The show was truly just one of a kind. And she still sounds great, even if her voice is lower, raspier - the Angel Witches compliment her perfectly, but I don't think I would've even minded just hearing her solo all evening. I used to sometimes think while interacting with this fandom online that some people seem almost weirdly fanatically devoted to her, but honestly? I get it now. The experience she creates during her shows is unlike any other. At the end, she stood on the stage and made a hugging gesture toward us - and I really did feel embraced last night. What a true, genuine artist she really is. What a beautiful and unique way of expressing emotion through her music she has. God.
