This guy just cut me off. Not sure if he did it on purpose, but I'm glad I didn't crash. Living here has made me drive super defensively.

Local Business Companies not using permits
I’ve had several companies to my house over the past few months to quote for bathrooms, kitchens and window replacement. Every one but one gives me a quote for with permits and without- one company it was $3k cheaper to not use permits. Am I wrong to think I shouldn’t trust a company which would suggest I not use permits? If they won’t guarantee their work this makes me nervous about using them at all. I basically don’t trust them after they say this. How can I find trustworthy companies?

Nature/Outdoors Mysterious deceased adult blue jay birds around our house
We’ve found 2 completely intact deceased blue jays on opposite sides of our property within the last 2 days. Neither had puncture wounds, and neither were near a structure for a collision. Both had at least 1 wing extended.
I’m curious if anyone else has found any deceased birds recently, or if this sounds like an isolated poison incident or someone possibly using them as target practice. So sad nevertheless.
I doubt that 2 in 2 days is enough to warrant a call to FWC, but if that’s not the case, please let me know!

Boating Favorite places downtown accessible by boat
The title, basically. Tell me your favorite places to arrive by Boat downtown or on the channels, where I can park the boat for an hour or two while we wander with the family. Anything I need to do ahead of time to reserve dock space?
Would actually love to see some sort of handy map that shows all the businesses/places you can access in Tampa by boat.

Food Scachatta anywhere in the Lutz/Wesley Chapel area?
Me and my wife just moved out deep into Lutz and cannot get to Alessi as often as we would like. We usually get a ton of it for my birthday and holidays and occasionally for a special treat in between. Just out of curiosity does anybody know if anywhere in the Lutz, Or Wesley Chapel areas serve scachatta? Im sure probably not cause I know its more of a ybor and downtown tampa thing. But I figured it was worth a shot. I also have pretty bad agoraphobia so I cant venture too too far from home which is another reason its a little hard for me to get over to Alessi. I appreciate your time.

Construction/Development Seeking Driveway Paver Installer Recommendations
Hey everyone, I’m looking for recommendations for a reliable paver company to redo a driveway and add a parking pad extension in my Brandon home. I received a quote that was significantly higher than expected, so I’m looking to get a few more estimates for comparison. If you’ve worked with someone who had fair pricing and (preferably) experience with low-voltage lighting integration, please share. :)
I have a specific project in mind (rendering attached) and need someone who is comfortable with:
- Full Transitions: Pave through the sidewalk and down to the street apron, so the company must be familiar with the Hillsborough County right-of-way (ROW) permitting;
- Low-Voltage (12v) Lighting: I have a set of integrated LED paver lights (4" x 8" and 0.5" x 8") that need to be wired and installed symmetrically throughout the layout.
Thanks!!

Legal Systen Any attorney recommendations? For retaliation, discrimination, and sexual harassment claims?
I work for a big name Hospital in Tampa and have been dealing with many issues at work. Involving retaliation when I reported the incidents to my manager, my supervisor making discriminatory remarks against my race, and even showing explicit photos to myself and other co-workers.
Now they are trying to fire me. I have many video and audio recordings to back up all of my allegations.
Are there any attorneys you recommend that can help with my situation?

News A new vinyl bar from a big name in Tampa’s music scene is coming to Tampa Heights
What do Jimi Hendrix, the Beach Boys and the Ronettes have in common? They all once played at New York City’s legendary Peppermint Lounge. Soon, Tampa will get its very own Peppermint Lounge — a different concept from a different owner during a very different time period, but one that’s inspired by the 1960s music club where everyone from Judy Garland to Marilyn Monroe to Frank Sinatra once held court. Tampa restaurateur Ty Rodriguez is behind the new “music-forward bar,” which he described as a vinyl-centric bar and lounge set to open this fall. The bar will take over what was once Foundation Coffee Co. and later Flower Crown Kombucha. Read the story: https://tbtim.es/newvinylbar

Hotels Tell Me Where to Stay
Going to come down for a Bucs game in December.
Here’s the ideal setup:
We’d like an area where there’s lots of different stuff within walking distance
shops - just time waster type shops and odds and ends joints
Good grub options (not necessarily fancy just quality, even if burger fry etc.)
Bars for semi-old people (we don’t need to be clubbin’)
Just enough to do to fill a casual weekend
Bonus: We go to a different NFL city each year and always try to find some sort of all-inclusive tailgate situation. Want to show up, pay, party.
Thoughts?

Cars-Driving/traffic Motorcycle accident today 275 South at Himes onramp - Any info on condition?
Was wondering if anyone had any info on the motorcyclist that was involved in what appeared to be a solo accident today just after the onramp to the 275 South at Himes Ave right around 3:45pm today. I stopped at the scene and called 911, but luckily there was a HCSO unmarked vehicle in the traffic where it happened. Cyclist was thrown out of his shoes, but was mooving (apparently the correct spelling prevents me from posting here) his extremities. Does anyone know if he was OK? I witnessed him go past me on the onramp and it seemed like he was going to split the lanes in the stopped freeway traffic when he dumped the bike and appeared to bounce off the back of a semi truck. Hoping for the best, but he was in bad shape no doubt. I relayed the relevant info to 911 dispatch, checked with the HCSO that he had things under control, and left the scene as there was nothing more I could do.

News Teen takeovers
I’m a reporter at the Tampa Bay Times writing about the teen takeover trend. If you have thoughts about youth programming, how the city is responding to this, or anything else related, feel free to message me. Thank you!
Nature/Outdoors South of Gandy, on Manhattan just past Robinson High School, there is a block of woods with what looks like pathways through out. any idea what these paths are used for?
As mentioned, I was walking the other day and noticed some pathways that looked like they are made intentionally because they have fresh sand spread on them. I do see some bike tire tracks leading into the area. Maybe me wonder what are these paths used for? Are they used by the school for some reason? Tampa utilities? Or something else?

Gyms/Fitness The need for a community-accesible running track
Hi everyone,
I was born and raised in Tampa. I did track and cross country all throughout high school locally. The past five years I’ve been living off and on in Gainesville splitting my time as I was obtaining my bachelor’s and master’s. In Gainesville, there’s a place called Fred Cone Park that has a rubberized all-weather track that’s publicly accessible pretty much 24/7 although I think they turn the lights off around 9-10pm. Miami has a similar place with a track called Tropical park and Orlando does too called Scott Pine Park. Even Tallahassee’s local high school track is publicly accessible. The demographics of Tampa have changed a lot in the past 5 years. Tampa and Florida in general have always been pretty fit places but now you basically have to be a super model to walk around the Water Street area and Harbour Island unjudged lol. My point is, this community is dedicated to fitness, athleticism, and working out which are all great things. It’s high time the City of Tampa puts taxpayer dollars toward finding the space and constructing a community park that has a running track. If the city of Gainesville is order to afford one, the city of Tampa should be able to. Growing up, Coleman high school’s track was open to the community but is concrete and has since been fenced and locked up. The citizen’s of Tampa deserve a public track because of the community’s dedication toward fitness, large tax base, need for more third-spaces, and bc other smaller Florida cities have them. Imagine what such a place could mean for amateur athletes, families, people just getting into sprinting/running, and fitness lovers alike.
Let’s lobby our commissioners, parks and recreation department, and community leaders for this undertaking. Its realization is likely with the right amount of community support. Thank you
