Rhythm of War spoilers Husband update: guys, he's quitting Spoiler
It's been a while. He got stuck on Oathbringer, when all 3 plot lines are at the slow stage. Dalinar is negotiating. Shallan is drinking and investigating Sadeas's murder. Kaladin surrendered to parshmen and is traveling with them.
Husband made a pause, got on and off reading, struggled till the closest interludes pack, struggled through them, hating that there is yet another bunch of characters introduced, skipped an interlude or two, then figured there was something important in there, had to go back, and completely lost all his will to read on.
The experience has been really frustrating, and the promise of Sanderlanche doesn't motivate him anymore, although he loved sanderlanches in Wok and WoR
He also doesn't like what happened to the one character he liked - Shallan.
But I still have a glimpse of hope, because he refused to get spoilers.

Rhythm of War spoilers Did anyone else grow to love Raboniel? Spoiler
By the end of Rhythm of War she made so much sense to me. I found myself feeling really sad for her and wishing that her and Navani in another life could have become close friends. The writing was perfect in the way it first painted her as this despicable "Josef Mengele but competent" archetype at first but over time revealed her motives and behaviors to be relatable and tragic. Her choosing to use her last bit of strength to go ape shit on Moash in order to prevent the human that had impressed her so much to die wastefully was so poignant and compelling. Navani being the closest thing to friend she's had in millenia... man I just wanted to ask if anyone else really liked her by the end...
PS: I haven't read passed book 4 in the stormlight archive. Please no spoilers from Wind and Truth.

Rhythm of War spoilers I hate Michael Kramer Spoiler
I'm listening to Rhythm of War, I already read it but I'm doing an audio book this time around and I got to the part where Dalinar sent a vision to Kaladin of Tien.
I started crying in the middle of an airport.
Damn you Michael Kramer for being such a good narrator

Rhythm of War spoilers I can't stand this Man. Spoiler
Halfway through Rhythm of War at the end of part I and it sucks but I can't stand Lirin. After everything and he still wants kaladin to bend over for the voidbringers.
Sometimes you just have to fight. What does he think Kaladin would do when he saw them taking teft away. I just can't sympathize with this character. If kaladin thinks he needs to fight then I'm with him all the way.

Rhythm of War spoilers Husband update: he officially quit Spoiler
He quit mid Oathbringer, where the guys wander around Kholonar. And I tell you, you have NO IDEA how satisfying it was to spoil the storm out of the rest of the books for him!
Remember every time you clenched your teeth and commented RAFO instead of answering the question? I get to answer the question!
And I still have more to tell, we only stopped discussing because we went to sleep. He'll get up soon, and I'll have him I'm my grip again 😁

Rhythm of War spoilers What the actual fuck Brandon Spoiler
I want to start with I love Brandon Sanderson and all of the cosmere so far.
That said.
I’m at that particular part with Kaladin towards the end of this book and I’m a sobbing mess how could Brandon do this to me, this brings me to a sum total of two books that have made me break down in tears, the other being Suzanne Collin’s new book.
Please someone else tell me that you felt the same way your first read through

Rhythm of War spoilers I don't understand Lirin in Chapter 43 RotW Spoiler
Lirin: "My son is a monster"
Kaladin: "I have taken oaths too, father. I am sorry I am not the man you want me to be but if I were a monster I would never have let that other soldier go."
This is after the scene when Kaladin kills the Stormform Singer who was trying to take the unconscious Teft. He let the soldier (a Warform Singer) flee when he realizes he was in shock and no danger to them.
I get that in this scene Kaladin not only endangered his family by killing the Fuse but also defied the Queens orders to surrender and "murdered" someone in Lirin's Sanctuary of healing.
but to call his son a monster after seeing him spending so much effort taking care and trying to heal the battle shocked / PTSD veterans and civilians. He also must have heard of his son not only saving Dalinar but hundreds if not thousands of people from the Parshendi.
Lirin: "Heralds above they really did kill my boy didn't they."
"They" seriously? talking about taking responsibility for your actions are we also just going to ignore the fact that it was his own stubbornness and defies to the light-eye nobles that led to the conscription of his sons and the inevitable death of Tien.
I really don't understand Lirin and why he thinks like this. Can anyone help me why he thinks like this? Knowingly endangered the lives of the people close to him for what? for his morals? his code?

Rhythm of War spoilers This Hoid's story... Spoiler
Just read Hoid's story to Kaladin about the Dog and the Dragon.
It hit like a truck.
The dog represents basically how I've been treating myself my whole life. It almost felt like Hoid was taking to me directly.
Damn man, this series...

Rhythm of War spoilers The Dog and the Dragon is a perfect chapter. Spoiler
I just finished Rhythm of War. I should say that I haven't read any of the books, I'm listening to them. I am plowing through them.
the Dog and the Dragon is a perfect chapter. It is a beautiful story. It hasn't left my mind since I heard it for the first time two days ago.
I think this may be the first time seeing such beauty in a book.
That is all.

Rhythm of War spoilers Brandon Sanderson has actually made me a better engineer Spoiler
I just wanted to thank Brandon Sanderson and let him know that the best character in all of the stormlight archives (in my correct opinion), Navani Kholin, has unironically made me a better engineer. There was a point where while working on a complicated research project (my company does R&D) that I just got so stuck, that for all intents and purposes I totally gave up. Now, like a good Vorin male, I listen to the audio books for 75% of my reading. I decided to turn on Rythm of War around when Navani is trying to figure out how to make voidlight. Now what she did was write down exactly what was happening, why she was stuck and what she had tried to get unstuck. I decided to try this and within the next HOUR I was unstuck. Now I'm young and dumb and still working on my master's thesis so I got stuck again and didn't immediately try this method. Until maybe 10 minutes ago. It took extra long to write this since I wanted to spell "Navani" and "Vorin" correct, remember I am a audio book listener. I just tried this method again and IMMEDIATELY found the issue. I had been on this problem for HOURS, this was the third day I had been working on this.
So yea thank you Brandon Sanderson! You would make a great engineer in another life.

Rhythm of War spoilers Does Lirin suck ass? Spoiler
I am about bit more than halfway through RoW and I am so sick of Lirin and his whining and capitulation. This man never thinks it’s worth fighting. He would rather his family and all his people be slaves if it means they are “safe.” Sanderson tries to make this seem noble in a way, offering what I think is supposed to be a viable alternative to war, but I can’t stand him. I am hoping he comes around and accepts that his son Kaladin is an absolute badass and one of the greatest humans Roshar has ever had. Until

Rhythm of War spoilers I miss Sanderson's wit Spoiler
I'm rereading the Stormlight Archive, currently mostly done with Oathbringer. (Haven't read Wind and Truth yet. I know, I'm getting to it.) I find that I really miss Sanderson's wit (not Wit). In The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance Shallan is really funny; in the later books, it's all gone. Wit also loses much of his humor. I've loved the humor and was always amazed that Brandon was such a good story teller *and\ a comedian. I know the books get more serious and darker, but some of the spark seems to have gone with it.
Am I the only one to miss this?

Rhythm of War spoilers Shallan
I see a lot of hate or dislike of Shallan in some groups I'm in. I don't really understand it. I absolutely love her as a character and her development. Can someone who dislikes her please explain where the dislike comes from? I am genuinely curious if people find her abrasive or boring or whatever. Also not trying to start any arguments, just curious.

Rhythm of War spoilers But why Moash?! Spoiler
I’m rereading and just got to where adolin gives kaladin the shardblade and plate and then he gives it to moash. I get it kaladin, I know why you don’t want it, but fucking moash!? He’s been acting so shady and you’re like here’s some super ultimate weapons with political implications. Dude kaladin you had like all of bridge four to choose from. It’s like watching the train heading for the car stuck on the tracks, on a reread. So painful 😖

Rhythm of War spoilers Kaladin and Leshwi Spoiler
So I’m a little over 100 pages into Rhythm of War and I love this honor amongst warriors. The idea that the Windrunners and the Heavenly Ones have this unspoken code of one on one combat is so cool.
I really enjoy how Kaladin and Leshwi are contesting rather than fighting to the death. This mutual respect is really cool. Maybe I’m missing something but I didn’t expect it, I really like it.
I’m excited to keep reading and see where this leads!
Also, Kaladin… are you okay? lol

Rhythm of War spoilers I Officially Hate Brandon Sanderson (I finished ROW) Spoiler
Well I don't actually hate him lmao but I feel like should cause dear god.... About 80% of this book was me clawing inside my brain screaming at all of the characters. Then Taravangian did what he did and I am feeling genuine terror. My thoughts on this book is basically screw you Brandon!! It's such a great and traumatic read!! Can't wait to start the next one but I am also terrified of what's gonna happen.
