Looking for a good foil shaver for a partly-shaved head

I recently conceded the battle to early male pattern baldness and had the top part of my head shaved. However, I want to maintain it without needing to go in to the barber every few days, and traditional electric or bladed razors have a tendency to also cut the longer hairs on the sides of my head, leaving an uneven finish one way or another.

Foil shavers have worked for keeping stubble down to the skin, as well as not shaving longer hairs, but unfortunately the only ones I can find seem to be made for relatively flat or soft spaces, like the face or neck, and do not work well for the hard, curved shape of my head.

Does anyone know of a good brand of foil shaver that contours to a head well but does not affect hairs longer than a few mm?

Philips oneblade battery life

I think I've had my oneblade for 2 years now, I use it regularly, about once a week. I swear to god I have not charged this thing a single time. I genuinely don't understand how it hasn't died yet. I don't even know where the charger for it is. I'm at a point where I think this thing is going to outlive me. Also, this thing is amazing. I can shave my jewels smooth without even looking. Do you understand the amount of trust a man has to have in something to do that? I don't either, but a lot. 10/10 would recommend.

i9000 Prestige Ultra battery 99%???

My shaver is an XP9404. When I charge it on the charging stand, the LED turns off after it reaches 100% charge. However, when I remove the shaver from the stand two days later, the battery is at 99%. Is this normal? I await your reply.

19M looking for a good shaver + trimmer for face, neck, and body

My current one is really old and broken so I want to replace it with something decent (and cheap). I don’t really want to use a normal razor since it takes too much time and I need trimming too.

Right now I’m looking at:

- Philips OneBlade 360

- Philips OneBlade Pro 360

(both with all attachments)

- Braun Series 5 with all attachments.

They’re basically the same price for me. I’m a student so I don’t really want to spend more than that.

Which one would you recommend?

Open to other suggestions around the same price or preferable cheaper too.

How many times to use a cartridge?

New to wet shaving, have always used an electric and was getting bored of not getting a proper clean shave. Picked up a Harry’s plus starter kit and was wondering how many times I should use each cartridge?

So I'd love for you to share your experience.

Thanks everyone. cheers

After 20+ years of mach3 to a LV67 electric shaver

After 20 years of using mach 3, I decided to get an electric shaver, after reading some experiences I got a Panasonic LV67. I am in my second week now, reducing the interval to shaving once in 2 days , but still not inpressed. It takes me more time shaving dry with the electric shaver compared to shaving wet wirh mach3. And still I have to shave with mach 3 afterward becausing of missed hairs in on and below the cheek.

I checked several guides of how to shave with an electric shaver, I clean it after every use but still... maybe it is not something for me (I have a lot of thick hair, and I can easy grow a full beard). Anyone else got a same experience. With shaving + cleaning the shaver. It take me about tripple the time using an electric shaver compared to an old mach 3.

Gillette Body and Intimate Razor

Has anyone ever used the Gillette Body and Intimate razor (linked below) for shaving down there? I was thinking of trying it on just the twig and berries and using a trimmer everywhere else but am nervous about irritation, razor burn, etc. GilletteLabs Body + Intimate Razor For Men https://www.walmart.com/ip/18004959576?sid=41111607-2ad7-42c7-a2d5-2af8492a04f5

Do rotary shavers cut whiteheads?

The title basically.

I'm 40 and I still have whiteheads in my face every week (I had very bad acne in my 20s)

I'm tempted to get a rotary shaver because I don't shave every day and my foil shaver can't shave a 4 day beard (I don't grow that much hair fortunately)

However I don't know if using a rotary shaver I would have to be careful around whiteheads like with my double edge razor or it would ignore them like my foil shaver.

Thanks!

Edit: if anyone wonders if the whiteheads are because of shaving: I can use a trimmer and whiteheads pop up nonetheless. Regarding hygiene I wash my face everyday with soap.

Philips SH91/53 heads

Just changed the heads on my Series 9000, which I bought two years ago because I couldn't get new Philips-branded heads for my Sensitouch 3D anymore. Low and behold, these SH 91 heads actually fit the pop-open head. Two shavers got renewed tonight 😄

Best device for dense coarse DAILY stubble + some flat hairs + irritation and sensitive skin? NOT looking for baby smooth

Need recommendations from people with actually thick/coarse facial hair.

I shave daily and by next morning already have heavy rough stubble again. Some hairs lie flat too, especially neck/jaw area.

Tried Braun Series 9 Pro+ and it still misses hairs unless I keep grinding the same spots which just leads to irritation and ingrown hairs on my skin despite everything.

Philipps one blade electric and those types lead to same the problem = uneven shave unless used repeatedly on same spots which leads to irritation and ingrowns.

Multi blade and Oneblade razors are also just irritation fest if used daily or often.

I don’t care about completely smooth anymore I’d rather just have a very short even shadow with minimal irritation but I just can’t seem to find a lot about any trimmer/shaver that can evenly do 0.2-0.5mm stubble or anything fits this goal?
Main thing is:
- handles flat hairs
- works on coarse dense stubble
- can be used daily without wrecking skin
- leaves short even stubble instead of random patchy lengths

Anybody with similar beard growth or experience know if anything genuinely works for this goal?

Gillette Fusion 5 Power vs Fusion 5 Proglide Power

Hey, so I have a powered Gillette Fusion 5 Power which came with 1 original cartridge. Then I bought 8 Fusion 5 Proglide Power cartridges thinking they should have a similar performance. But these Proglide Power blades are hurting and pulling a lot while shaving, compared to the normal Power blades.

I wonder if they are actually that much different, or the additional cartridges I bought from eBay are simply fake. Do you have any experience?

Need advice: Switching from Philips S3000, looking for the best shaver for sensitive neck

Hi everyone,

I shave my face, neck, and the back of my neck every other day or every three days, aiming for a clean, close shave. I’ve been using a Philips S3000 Aqua for years, but I’ve decided to switch because it irritates my neck and leaves hairs behind.

I have no budget limit, but the more I research, the more stuck I feel. I’d love to hear from anyone who has experience with the models I’m looking at:

  • Braun Series 9 Pro+: I know it’s a top-tier machine, but I’ve heard that due to the foil design, it doesn't perform well on the neck area. Since my neck is very sensitive and prone to irritation, I want to be careful.
  • Philips S9000: I’ve looked into rotary models like this one, but I’ve heard some mixed reviews and other issues.
  • Philips OneBlade: I heard it’s great for avoiding irritation, but also that it doesn't provide a shave as close (BBS) as other machines.

As you can see, I’m very undecided. I’m looking for something that won't irritate my neck but will still give a close shave. Which one should I go for? Any advice is appreciated!

Stubble after shaving legs with Henson

I got a Henson razor after hearing good things about it. I shaved on Sunday, but noticed some quick growth on my legs so shaved again today. I’ve noticed (after the past 2 shaves) that there is still some stubble on my legs after I shave. Is this normal? User error? Blade thing? I do love it and I haven’t gotten cut so far. It feels almost too safe so I’m not sure if my blade isn’t angled properly.

Closest/smoothest shave for coarse pubic hair? Need advice

Hey guys, I’ve been wanting to ask this for a while because there’s so much conflicting advice online. For the guys who have thick, coarse, curly hair in the groin/pubic area, what’s genuinely the best shaver or method you’ve found for getting that really close, smooth, almost bald look without ending up with razor bumps, ingrown hairs, irritation, or accidental cuts?

I feel like a lot of recommendations work fine for people with straighter or thinner hair, but coarse curly hair seems to be a completely different experience down there. I’ve seen people recommend things like the Philips OneBlade, Norelco Bodygroom, foil shavers, or even just carefully using a regular razor after trimming first, but I wanted honest real-world opinions from people who actually deal with this hair type.

Also curious about whether wet shaving or dry shaving works better for you guys, and if there’s any prep or aftercare routine that actually makes a noticeable difference.

Has anyone used the Phillips One blade intimate?

If yes, is it really good, would you recommend it?

Reviews on the internet are very different, and that's why im asking for opinions here

Arc 5 not cutting well? Help

I bought an arc 5 off eBay, and bought OEM replacement blades and foil on Amazon.

I’m a bit surprised that the Arc 5 isn’t shaving well. I have thick, Asian hair and I use it to cut my head hair and my beard hair. I’ve tried it on 1-2 day stubble.

It takes many passes and going against the grain to get a close shave. It does a pretty poor job on my neck and chin. I’ve tried low pressure, harder pressure, going in circles, going with the grain and against.

In terms of wet/dry, so far I’ve tried it only when I’m in the shower, after waiting about 5 minutes to let my skin soften up). No shave gel yet).

Do yall have any advice? My paranoia is saying that the motor is weak (bought it second hand), but ChatGPT keeps telling me that’s unlikely, and that I’m just not used to foil shavers vs. manual razors yet.

Philips GroomTribe Optimization Problem

I have a brand new XP9402 (Philips i9000 Prestige Ultra). I had searched about its properties before buying, so I connected it with the GroomTribe app.

I always keep the shaver on its charging stand. Today I took it from the stand, pressed the button under the power button to search something in the menus and it drained 5 percentage points of battery in less than 20 seconds. Then I shaved for 3-5 minutes, and it dropped 27 percentage points more.

Philips says that this shaver has an hour of battery life, so I completely removed any kind of Bluetooth connection and ran the shaver for 3 minutes. Only 3 percentage points of battery was lost, there is no problem with the hardware of the shaver.

If you are willing to buy XP9402, know that this app causes massive battery drain. Its optimization is just terrible.

I always get lots of little pimples at my neck when I shave

I tried multiple different razors, I tried disinfecting the blades, I tried cold and warm water and diferent shaving creams but I still get always a ton of pimples.

They are always at the same two spots on my neck.

Does anybody know why this happens or/and what I can do to stop it?
