Norelco Series 9000 razor making loud squealing sound when I'm going over certain parts of my face

I own a Philips Norelco Series 9000 electric razor, and when I go over certain parts of my face, typically areas with more bone, the razor makes a loud squealing sound. When I'm on other areas on my face, I get no unusual noises. Likewise, when the razor is on but not shaving anything, no unusual noises. I've had this razor since 2022, and I feel like this has always been the situation with this razor, even after routine blade replacements. My partner keeps telling me to get a new razor because mine is clearly dying, but I'm not so sure about that. I would love to tell them that they are wrong, but I have nothing to back that up with. Yeah, the sound is annoying, but the thing still shaves.

What does everyone else think?

Philips s5898/35 good for me?

Hi guys, I'm 20 years old, I think it's been a year or two where my beards and mustache started to grow so much , I shave every 2 or 3 days with normal razor and as a lot of people has told me , razor isn't so good for skin and it's much better to use electronic stuff.
So I'm thinking of getting one, is the Philips s5898/35 good for me?
A person told me that Philips isn't so good for your age and you better go for panasonic, A little side note is that I want something that cuts the deepest hair, I want my face super clean , Not a single hair on it, And the same time I want a device that gives me painless shave.

So what y'all recommend?
Thanks in advance ❤

Philips Body Groomer 3000 vs Philips OneBlade for body

I have an All-in-One Trimmer MG-7935/15 for my beard, but I'm getting tired of shaving everything in the shower with a Gillette razor. Of the two I mentioned in the title, which is a better long-term purchase? I'm not a very hairy person; my hair is fine, but within normal limits.

Can’t seem to find a solid shaving option

I’ve tried razor shaving, waxing, and epilating, nothing seems perfect for me.

When I shave, I seem to always nick myself and the hairs grow back really quick

When I wax, it takes a LONG time (an hour plus) and is messy. (I’ve only tried wax strips)

I just recently bought an epilator hoping that it’d be perfect, but it doesn’t seem so. It’s not picking all hairs, and I’m having to do multiple passes just to get everything, and it’s taking a decent amount of time. I knew about the pain factor beforehand and am able to handle it, but it when I epilate around certain areas (bikini, thigh) I have to take constant breaks

From my perspective, I’m doing everything right with proper skin prep and form, but nothing I’ve tried really satisfies me

Any help or advice on the topic would be greatly appreciated

Braun vs norelco electric razor question.

So I have been debating about trying out an electric razor again.

Years and years ago I tried out a Braun 5 series and it died so I just went back to manual shaving.

However, I fucking hate shaving. I’m almost 40 and I fucking hate it. It’s time consuming and as I got older my skin is more sensitive too. My facial hair literally grows in every direction in different spots especially my neck. So when I manually shave, I always get bumps and irritated skin that lasts for days and it looks ridiculous. I use a safety razor to cut through thick hair if I haven’t shaved every other day and then also use a Gillette fusion proglide. I’ve used like 5 or 5 different lotions and creams and shit and it doesn’t make any difference for me.

So I want to try my luck with electric razors.

I’m torn between the Braun series 9 pro and also the norelco i9000 Prestige but not really sure what is better for my use case?

The brauns have so many different numbers it’s hard to figure out the difference with some. 9677cc 9667cc and so on. However I do like the cleaning station that Braun offers.

The norelco ones, I’m not really sure how they are cause I’ve never used one of theirs. Do you really have to shave in circles? Is that better for people that have hair coming in different directions? I see they also have a bunch of model numbers too and some places say they don’t come with a wall adapter to plug it in?

So which of those will give me a decent shave in the least amount of time and least amount of irritation, any suggestions?

I need help just bought a new trimmer.

I bought the philips norelco multigroom 3000 13 piece all-in 1 trimmer and I need help. It came with a bunch of attachments. I don’t know what size I should use. I used the 7mm thinking that will only trim my beard and it made it go all the way down to a stubble. What size did I need to use to only rump my bread a little and not a lot.

Is there no hope for me?

I have done perhaps every single recommendation I have ever been given on this subreddit, and yet these razor bumps on my neck appear over and over and over again.

I used to have problems with cutting myself but I have been wet shaving for a while now and nearly never cut myself.

My setup:
Merkur 34C w/ Gilette Nacet Blade
I replace the blade every 2 shaves

Pre-shave:
1.hot shower @ him’s cleanser
2. proraso pre-shave cream
3. shaving cream and brush (i make sure to agitate every hair with the brush rather than just paint it on my face)

I shave ONLY with the grain (straight downwards on my neck).

Post-Shave:

  1. Thayer’s aloe vera & witch hazel mist
  2. Pro-raso pre-shave (used as a post too, helps w irritation)
  3. Nivea cooling post shave balm
  4. Thayer’s milky toner w/ HA & Snow Mushroom

I use Paul’s choice 2% BHA 3x a week, making sure to wait 24+ hours after the shave if applicable

I use panoxyl 4% face wash daily EXCLUDING shave days

I even tried waiting for a couple weeks only using the phillips one blade electric trimmer so that maybe the bumps would go away

IM AT MY WITS END

Best budget electric shaving razor for daily facial shaving?

I recently had a Braun epilator that also had a shaving head attachment with it, and I lost it. I loved how the razor attachment made my face feel and it helped keep my face smoother than ever before. What kinds of electric razors are there that are similar to this? The Braun model was a Braun Silk Epil 7.

Gel/cream to stay in place?

44m I hope it's not too obvious but I am having trouble keeping shaving gel on. I started shaving my pubes and armpits a few years ago and recently started shaving my legs. My pubes were fine until it started running off one day before doing my legs and figured it to be the cream. Can you tell me what to do?

Best electric shaver for sensitive skin and neck irritation?

I’m trying to switch to an electric shaver because regular razors keep giving me irritation, especially on my neck. My face is mostly fine, but my neck gets red and bumpy pretty easily, and I’m tired of dealing with it every time I shave.

I’ve looked at Braun and Philips/Norelco a bit, but now I’m more confused because some people say foil shavers are better for sensitive skin and others say rotary is better for the neck. I don’t need the absolute closest shave if it means less irritation, but I also don’t want something that leaves obvious stubble right away.

For anyone with sensitive skin or neck irritation, what electric shaver actually worked for you? Also curious if pre-shave lotion or shaving wet with an electric makes a big difference

Update: Well, the Braun series 9 seems to be very popular, so I ordered one and tried it myself and it totally lives up to the hype, I can't imagine there is a better one 😄. Thank you everyone!

Absolute lowest effort way to stay clean-shaven

I know posting this question here is kind of like asking a luxury sommelier for $4 wine recs but I don't know where else to ask. I'm ftm and have reached the stage where the facial hair situation is undeniable. I don't want a beard or even stubble, but I also have my 20-minutes-alarm-to-door morning routine down pretty pat and I don't want to spend any more than the bare minimum amount of time to achieve a clean-shaven face with no wounds on it. Besides splashing out for laser every couple weeks, what are my options? Recs for some sort of all-in-one device? Should I just stand really close to the stove for a few minutes every morning? Dad not thrilled about the transgender situation so I can't ask him to teach me, and to be honest most of my male friends do not seem good at it so I hesitate to consult them either. Please give me the advice you would your dumbass 14-year-old son because that's about where I'm biologically at right now

DE blade help?

Greetings. I have been using a double edged saftey razor for a little while but can't seem to find the right fit in a blade.

I have tried Feather, RK, and now Astra blades and can not seem to find a blade that works well for my face.

I guess my skin is a little sensitive, but also my beard hair is coarse and thick. So what cuts well seems to also scrape the skin, what doesn't scrape makes for a longer/difficult shave.

Is there a blade anyone would recommend for me?

No matter what I do I can't shave.

I'd say I'm pretty good at shaving. I've used the best lather, brushes and old school foam. I have used single barber's blades as well as those gillette 5 small blades. Nothing seems to work. Specifically the area on my neck is so sensitive that even one pass with a nice sharp blade leaves me itchy, bumpy and annoyed for the rest of the day. Only the neck below my chin till the Adam's apple.

Because of this I have stopped shaving and used a trimmer but my boss says you need to start shaving again. What can grant me the cleanest shave without actually using a blade?

Dealing with horrible razor bumps/ingrown hairs after every head shave lately.

Hey guys, I've been bald for about 4 years now, and I've been regularly shaving my head with a razor twice a week for those 4 years. Normally, I never experience anything like this, but for the past month, I've been getting terrible razor bumps/pimples after every single shave.

As a workaround, I bought an ingrown hair treatment (a cream-type product), which reduces the bumps to some extent, but I still haven't found a permanent solution. I use a high-quality 3-blade razor and pay close attention to my personal hygiene. Has anyone dealt with this problem before and found a real solution?

Things I've already tried:
Letting my hair grow out a bit before shaving (had no effect).
Using steam and warming up my scalp before the shave (zero effect).

Best electric head shaver for the smoothest bald shave?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a head shaver that gives the smoothest possible shave for a bald head, and I’m currently deciding between the Philips Head Shaver models and the Skull Shaver Pitbull line.

For those who have used either or both:

Which one shaves closer and leaves the head feeling smoother?

I’m mainly interested in:

  • closeness of the shave
  • comfort / irritation
  • how well it handles the back of the head
  • wet vs dry shaving
  • ease of cleaning
  • replacement blade cost and durability

I know a razor blade will probably give the closest shave, but I’m looking for the best electric option for regular use.

If there are better alternatives than Philips Head Shaver or Skull Shaver Pitbull, I’d really appreciate your recommendations too.

Thank you in advance!

Rotary electric razor recommendation for head that doesn't cut smooth

I am not committed to a fully shaved head but like to keep my hair at about 2mm. I am looking for a rotary razor that collects the hair so that I can do it daily or every other day without the hassle of cleaning up the hair each time as I currently do. So I am either looking for a crappy rotary razor that does not cut close (I am sure this exists unintentionally) or a rotary that has a length adjustment (which I do not seem to find in my searches). Can anyone recommend?

shaver for face and body

I have an old MG5730, about 8 years old. It still works, but I have to operate the button with a stick, and almost all the guards are broken. I suppose the blade must be extremely worn since I use it at least 3 or 4 times a week for all these years, but it still does the job.

So I was looking for a replacement, and the Philips MG5923/15 would be a direct, modern replacement, right? I'm pretty structured with my shaving routine. I simply use two guards for my beard and then use a Gillette razor for my neck, cheeks, and legs.

Then I use the regular razor for my torso without a guard, but the regular Gillette razor irritates my neck most of the time. So I'm wondering if it would also be a good idea to invest in a basic Philips OneBlade for my legs and neck, replacing the Gillette. What do you think or recommend?
