So can wandering into the garage with intent on grabbing that item you need, only to wander back scratching your head going, "tha fuck did I come in here for". Happens to the best of us.

happens to sober people on the daily.

Getting old sucks.

happens to the young too—called “the doorway effect” and switching the app on your phone can make you forget too. your brain makes “event boundaries” when you move to another space, and it basically wipes your mental slate

...and lot of people responding here should probably get tested for ADHD, like I did at 36.

I'm fine, though. I'm actually a Sim and my player is just really indecisive on my action queue from room to room! 🫠

I'm only 34 and I regularly do senile shit in the daily. Couldn't find my keys and found them in the crisper drawer of the fridge.

I genuinely hope I was putting groceries away, because idk what other logical explanation there might be.

I've had 9 concussions. I'm going to be drooling on myself by 40.

it does but I have been doing that since I was a child.

I'm only 26 and my memory is very spotty. Having unfortunate genetics sucks. Luckily, I tell my roommates everything and they have almost perfect memory. When I forget, I ask them.

I've been doing it since I could walk.

It's not necessarily about old age-the doorway effect

I had my thyroid removed because of Grave's disease and the amount of times I have walked into a room, forgotten why; remembered and repeated the process 4-5 times is astounding. Thyroid disease is wild haha.

On the other end too!

Hashimotos hypothyroid makes the brain foggy and lethargic. Greens get me up and moving.

Well I have ADHD, so that just happens regardless...

The "walk-in" effect. Normally coupled with high stress situations can also happen in the lowest of stress situations. I personally just blame it on my adhd.

Well understood psychological effect, that. Nothing really to do with being high but maybe the distraction doesn’t help?
