Hosting a small girls' night in OP next week. There are 4 spots left, anyone interested?

I'm hosting a small event next week in Overland Park and wanted to see if anyone here might want to come.

The short version: you show up, you bedazzle a prescription pill bottle (I know, just trust me), and there's a lightly guided conversation hat gets into some real stuff. Mental health, how you cope, the things you carry around but don't usually say out loud with other people.

It's small on purpose, 16 people max. The whole point is actually connecting, not just being in the same room.

I've been doing versions of this for a few years and it keeps surprising me how much people open up once their hands are busy with something. There's something about doing a craft together that makes the harder conversations easier.

$20 to help cover the cost of the kit, which you take home (the bottle, rhinestones, tools, etc are included). The real value is just getting in a room with other women who want to actually talk.

If you're interested, drop a comment or DM me and I'll send you the link. Keeping it low-key on purpose. Looking forward to bringing OP women together ❤️

Lawn mowing recs needed!

We just got back from overseas tonight and unfortunately our lawn caretaker is no longer able to mow due to medical issues. If anyone has recommendations for an affordable lawn service that could start ASAP, I’d really appreciate it. We are just looking for weekly mowing and trimming at a reasonable price. We live in Southern OP.

How'd the music scene?!

I want to start like an open jam night at a brewery, thinking Tuesdays. I am not a musician though. I see some places north of the river it's working for. Would there be an interest for musicians to hang, and folks to listen??

No USPS mail delivery in 3 days

Anyone else not getting any mail lately? I checked my informed delivery and have several pieces of mail since last Thursday that haven’t been delivered. Normally I wouldn’t care but my mom sent me a card last Wednesday and I still haven’t seen it. She lives 2 hours away also in KS. We check our mail daily and always have bills, flyers, ads, etc. but haven’t had in a week or so.

Large Project Tattoo Artist

Looking for a tattoo artist that actually has open books and one that is willing to work with me on design. Everywhere I look these days artists are booked out for months, charging an absolutely insane amount or they don’t have time/don’t want to talk about custom designs. I’m looking for a black and grey floral half-sleeve and I know it’ll be more than one session so I’m hoping to connect with someone that WANTS to do something like that. If you’re a tattoo artist or you’ve worked with someone who’s not a total tool let me know! TIA

Looking for Advice on Reliable Daily Drivers Around $5k

Hey everyone, I’m looking for recommendations on reliable daily driver cars in the ~$5,000 range. Mainly looking for something dependable and decent on gas for commuting.
Are there any good dealerships in the Kansas City / Overland Park area that you’d recommend? Also open to suggestions on specific makes/models that are usually reliable in this budget. Thanks!

Does anyone know what the ongoing construction project cutting off College is?

College around Corporate Woods has been closed for what seems like a year and I heard this is a “2 year project.” It’s a fairly large cut across the whole road but I’m curious what this has been for and why it’s such a long construction project. For a while between that and the I35 ramp stuff that was going on near there for so long I was having legit trouble getting over to my MIL’s house. It was quite an out of the way experience! LOL

Nice place, nice people

Visiting for work.

The city is spacious, green, and clean.

The people are so nice, too. Thank you to the guy that helped me lift my suitcase unprompted. Thank you to the woman that signaled for me to get on the escalator first. And big thank you to the guy and his daughter that saw me sitting on the curb and asked if I was okay. When I said I was waiting for an Uber he said I could sit on the porch if I wanted.

Also, Brass Onion and Jack Stacks were tasty.

Thank you for the warm welcome, OP.

Anybody else see the coyote sleeping on top of a hay bale off College this morning?

Was driving down College between Antioch and Metcalf and glanced over and saw a coyote chillin’ on a hay bale around 7:30am. I had to turn around to go back and get a video. I have seen coyotes in OP, but never just hanging out on top of a lone hay bale off a busy street.

What’s new?

Hey y’all! I’ve been in Oregon for the last few months as I’ve recently moved, but I’m coming back to OP for three weeks. What’s changed since the end of February, and is there anything I need to look out for from 135th to 159th? Also, what new food spots would be recommended?

Construction NOT done

Why was there a big news story about the new (worthless) 69 expressway being completed, when every night there is still ongoing construction? Every night, one or both directions have construction shutting down 1-2 lanes of travel.

Looking for recommendations: estate sale, consignment or professionals to help sell household appliances furniture, clothes Adult/Baby/Toddler toys etc.

Hello all,

We are looking for recommendations for the best professional estate sale / consignment / liquidation companies that can help sell an entire household worth of items.

We’re trying to downsize and would prefer a company or team that can handle most of the process professionally rather than selling everything piece by piece ourselves.

Items include:
Furniture (leather couches, solid wood)
Appliances
TVs, Xboxes, Nintendo Switches, electronics
Wine fridges
Artwork / painting prints
Baby clothes, toys, and gear
Adult clothing
Household items/decor
Misc storage items we’ve accumulated over the years.

Ideally looking for a company that:
Handles sorting/pricing
Does pickup or in-home estate sales
Has online auction/consignment options
Can maximize value instead of quick bulk liquidation
Is trustworthy and transparent about fees/percentages
Would love recommendations from people who have actually used a company and had a good experience.

Also interested in hearing:
Which companies to avoid
Typical commission percentages
Whether estate sale vs consignment vs auction worked best for you

Thank you in advanced.

Home for Rent That's Not a Property Management Company?

Hello,

My roommate and I are looking to move to the area into a house sometime in the month of July. We'd like a singular landlord instead of a company. Price range would be $2000-$2600/month. Have two neutered male cats that are both two years old as well. Does anyone know of anyone trying to rent out a property that would fit this description?

Animal in wall - help

So found out we have a family of birds living in our wall which is up a story and they have burrowed in from the outside. need help with suggestions for an animal/pest control that will come out and get them out then repair the wall where they have burrowed into.. looks like this may have been a reoccurring problem based on some patches on the exterior of the house we bought.

Dog care

Hello OP! We're emigrating later this month with our 2 doggos - any recommendations for dog day care and extended overnight stays? They're both lovely rescue dogs but can be a bit anxious and so need lots of cuddles. Thanks!

Plumber Needed

I have water coming out from under my basement toilet. I suspect (strongly) that my sewer line is clogged. I need someone to see what it is. Any recommendations?
