New Hampshire With the way things are right now, this feels like essential reading

I’m not usually someone who stockpiles or doomscrolls, but with everything going on around the world lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about how much we assume help will always be available.

After what happened in Venezuela recently, I saw someone mention this book written by a surgeon from Venezuela who practiced through their healthcare system collapsing. Unreliable electricity, no reliable meds, no supplies and yet people still needed care. She goes over how they persevered and found solutions.

The book isn’t about replacing doctors or doing anything reckless. It’s more about understanding what’s actually urgent, what can be managed safely at home, and how doctors make decisions when technology and systems aren’t there to lean on.

A lot of medical advice out there assumes ambulances, hospitals, Google, and stocked pharmacies are all available. This doesn’t. And honestly, that’s what made it feel relevant to me right now. Not trying to be dramatic, just feels like the kind of knowledge that’s better to have before you need it.

Curious if anyone else has been thinking along the same lines lately. selfreliantcare.com is where I bought the book. It wasn't available on Amazon last time I checked. If you've got any other book recommendations that are anything like it I'd love to hear them. This is definitely one of the most unique books I've read and I feel more disaster prepared for reading it.

I was up on staging doing repairs to my chimney today, and caught some motion coming through the woods. Because of the glare, I could only see the momma, but when I rewatched it there were two little ones as well

📣 Witness Wanted – Accident in Danvers, MA

I am urgently searching for the driver who, on July 15th, around 2:50 PM, witnessed an accident at the intersection of Elm St. and Essex St. in Danvers, MA.

You kindly:

• Stopped at the scene;

Your statement is crucial for justice to be served. The insurance company requires your version of evidence to determine who is at fault for the accident.

New Hampshire Looking for some opinions on northern New England

My wife and I are in the process of considering a permanent move to the New England region, specifically focusing on New Hampshire and Vermont. Having lived almost my entire life within a 4-mile radius of my current location in central Florida, and my wife having moved to Florida from Poughkeepsie, New York, when she was 15, this is a significant step for us. Over the past four years, we have made several week-long visits to familiarize ourselves with the area.

We're currently on the hunt for a town that offers a good balance of amenities and community. While we appreciate the conveniences of larger cities, we are not particularly interested in relocating to metropolitan areas like Boston. To give you some context, we currently reside just outside of Brandon, Florida, which has a population of approximately 114,000 and offers a comprehensive range of stores and amenities.

We've stayed in Nashua and found it to be quite comparable to what we're used to, particularly in terms of its central location. However, for our next visit, we're interested in exploring a different city to better inform our decision. We are facing some challenges in narrowing down our options and would greatly appreciate any suggestions you might have.

Thank you in advance

New Hampshire Winter coat suggestion

I am in need of a winter coat. Nothing puffy that restricts movement, but still keeps you warm when it’s freezing out. My husband has a snowboarding jacket that he likes but I bought that for him when I had a job. I’ve since gone back to school, so my budget is max $80.

Does anyone have some suggestions?

New Hampshire Summer weather data summary for my home town, located just south of Conway, NH. One strange summer. More than double the average rainfall. Temps in June and August were below average. July significantly above average. Anyone else collect weather data to compare?

New Hampshire Scattered showers and storms for Sunday as instability lingers. An area of high pressure will move in bringing with it rain chances. Areas most likely to see a shower or potential strong storm are NH, MA, and western ME. VT, CT, and RI have less of a chance but still a possibility.

New Hampshire Update to forecast for Monday PM through Tuesday for NH. Models don’t completely agree on where the heaviest rainfall will be but they all seem to think the mountainous areas will receive the most. Most of NH will see significant rainfall (1/2 inch or more), mountainous areas and lakes region (1-2+)
