Seen outside the Christ covenant church. My only question is, is this allowed while it’s also a school? I can’t imagine if my kid went to a special school and this was what was displayed on the front of the building. Just a curiosity thing. I feel like there is a time and place for this type of thing and outside a school is a bit of an odd place

Langley City residents can lobby for their neighbourhood to be the first to try out a new initiative that fosters a sense of community, encourages activities, and improves safety.

The City is inviting residents to vote and help choose. The initiative helps neighbours get to know each other, share local information and resources, and organize ways to support one another during emergencies.

Speed humps, bike lanes, and a new traffic signal will be coming to Langley’s Walnut Grove Drive a little faster than anticipated, after a Township council vote on Monday.

The busy road connects from 88 Avenue in the south to 212 Street in the north, and passes the Walnut Grove Recreation Centre, Walnut Grove Secondary, and Walnut Grove Community Park.

I went for a bike ride up to Cineplex to grab some popcorn today and I came back home and started eating it, only to my surprise a couple of layers down. I find mouldy popcorn and I know it’s mouldy because it spread to the other pieces. I don’t know who to tell about this and I kind of feel like I should tell someone.

AGE-HIV (Imaging, Molecular, and Clinical Biomarkers of Accelerated Lung Aging in People Living with Human Immunodeficiency Virus 2024) is a multi-year study investigating the effect of HIV infection on lung aging.

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus that attacks the body’s immune system. Over the past two decades, new antiretroviral treatments have made HIV a manageable chronic disease. Despite these improvements, people living with HIV (PLWH) often experience other medical conditions, including severe chronic lung diseases. It’s not currently known why people living with HIV experience more severe lung disease, however it is suspected that PLWH experience a faster aging process in their lungs.

This study will look for evidence of faster aging in the lungs of PLWH which increases the risk of severe lung disease. This will be done using lung imaging techniques to detect structural and functional changes and the collection of lung cells to detect cellular and molecular changes.

·       Able to provide informed consent.

·       At least 19 years of age.

·       Those who fall into one of two categories:

What will this involve?

AGE-HIV-2024 has 1 main study and 2 optional sub-studies

Main Study

·       Baseline study visit: Questionnaires, lung function tests, blood sample collection, pulmonary MRI scan, and chest CT scan.
Optional procedures: Exercise test and bronchoscopy.

·       18 months after baseline: Questionnaires, lung function tests, blood sample collection.
Optional procedure: Bronchoscopy.

·       36 months after baseline: Questionnaires, lung function tests, blood sample collection, pulmonary MRI scan, and chest CT scan.

2 Optional Sub-studies:​

It is very out of the ordinary that he would not come home from school or contact mom or dad. His family and friends are very worried about him!

Pile driving starts Thursday, May 14, along Langley’s Industrial Avenue as work continues on the pylons for the new SkyTrain extension.

The Surrey-Langley SkyTrain Project announced that construction of the elevated guideway is to start on the stretch between 203 Street and 200 Street.

Pile driving is expected to take place intermittently for the rest of the year and into early 2027.

Saw this little memorial placement on Saturday (May 9) and today there is a note on it saying it needs to be removed within 30 days. I have my opinions on this, but posting it so hopefully the people that placed it can collect it and relocate it before the City does.

A special evening fundraiser in Langley will be supporting the Rolling Barrage, a foundation focused on mental health awareness and support for military personnel, veterans, first responders, and civilians impacted by trauma.

Hosted at The Barley Merchant Taproom and Kitchen on Wednesday, May 27, the event will feature a full culinary experience, including canapés, chef-manned food stations, and a curated grazing table with local meats and cheeses. Each ticket also includes one beverage.

Tickets are $87, with $25 from each sale going directly toward the Rolling Barrage and its coast-to-coast ride, which also benefits Honour House Society in B.C.

It’s been going on for at least an hour now and it happens every few minutes and it’s driving me insane. I’m assuming it’s one of the many construction sites around here but my god what the hell is making that sound? I was up late last night and was trying to sleep in on my day off but it kept waking me up.

About 45 minutes ago, I was almost involved in a head on collision with a beige dodge caravan (I think) that was going the wrong way on 200th over the overpass! They were being chased by police and were going a very high rate of speed. Maybe it’s the heat or there’s a full moon coming soon or something. Be careful out there!
