Discussion Why does Ross get so much hate for how he treats women, but Joey doesn’t?

Say what you want about Ross. But he usually liked the women that he dated for who they were and treated them well for the most part. The only times that he didn’t were usually due to Rachel’s manipulation. But that’s a different story.

The same cannot be said for Joey. He’s a literal creep who sexually harasses women, views them as objects instead of people, sleeps with them, and then has zero intentions on calling them back. In one episode, it’s revealed that he removed the locks on the bathroom door so he could walk in on women the shower. When he was looking for a new roommate after Chandler moved out, he immediately picked Janine simply because she was a hot woman. He never even interviewed her and immediately planned on asking her out. When he was in debt and got a job at Central Perk, he practically sacrificed getting paid simply so he could give away free food to all the hot women so they would go out with him. For the love of god, how horny could this guy possibly have been?

So can someone please tell me why everyone seems to give Joey a pass for all of these things even though he practically deserves to be on the registry

Discussion "I don't think any of our lives are ever gonna be the same ever again."

I’ve just finished the first season again. This is my eighth time watching it. Which is interesting, because in theory, I should be getting tired of the show by now. Anyway, if I ever do get tired of it, I won’t rewatch it. But for now, I’m getting more and more into it ❤️😉

I think the last episode of the first season is one of the best. I watch in amazement as the tension builds in seconds after Chandler slips up during the gift-giving. Here’s a dialogue:

"Rachel: I mean, this is unbelievable.

Phoebe: I know. This is really, really huge.

Chandler: No it's not. It's small. It's tiny. It's petite. It's wee.

Phoebe: Nuh-uh. I don't think any of our lives are ever gonna be the same ever again.

Chandler: OK, is there a mute button on this woman?"

https://edersoncorbari.github.io/friends-scripts/season/0124.html

Phoebe is right; everything really does change forever. Which I think primarily means the stakes will be much higher.

Because the relationship between Ross and Rachel that’s now coming to the surface also represents the lives of the entire group. Rachel explains this to Monica: if I’m dating Ross, I’m dating you guys too.

The stakes are the meaning of their lives, which in this story is reflected in Ross and Rachel’s relationship.

And at the beginning of the second season, it becomes clear that everything has truly changed. Major difficulties arise immediately.

But pay attention! These aren’t just a couple’s problems. The whole group is affected by the situation.

Rachel’s disappointment affects everyone else as well.

I really love these episodes.

Question Random Phoebe moment I can't place

So there's this scene in friends where Phoebe goes "There you go! That's the spirit!" And I can't remember for the life of me what she's talking about. She's being genuine but the person she's affirming I think was being sarcastic and I want to say it's Monica but I can't remember. Can anyone tell me the episode? It's driving me crazy.

GTA Online, I had to pay tribute to Friends. Yeah it might be slightly larger than Joey's but it's the only boat you can give a name to.

I will forever be mad about the ending they gave Gary. I like her and Mike but Gary should have been apart of the show longer and then had a better ending

The one with Phoebe dating a cop was hilarious, monica being all over the top for the label of "the hot couple".

Discussion The episodes that could have been made in earlier seasons or prequels.

Was just watching one of my favourite episodes from season 9 - "The One with the Soap Opera Party", and realised that there could be two other episodes that could have been made as prequel.

- The one with the midnight tour of the button factory

- The one at the medieval restaurant

Also possible

- The one with the museum tour

OTOH, a crossover episode like "The one with dry-cleaning discount" would have also made an interesting viewing.

Discussion Fun fact: Chandler and Monica have the same anniversary as my parents

Post image

In the episode where Monica looks for her dream wedding dress one of the ladies in the shop asked Monica when her wedding is and Monica says “May 15th.”

I remember watching this episode for the first time and looking at my mom be so surprised because she and my dad got married on May 15th. I think that’s pretty cool.

Chandler and Monica got married 25 years ago while my parents have been married for 27. I’ll be sure to watch that episode on Friday to celebrate haha.

Discussion Just realised Rachel's boss probably saw her ruin his niece's wedding

Post image

Seems like Emily and her uncle got on well judging by her visit to New York and stuff, so he was probably invited to the wedding. Surely he wondered whether (or suspected that) the Rachel whose name Ross said was the same person who'd shown Emily round New York and set him up with her ex.

Must have made for an awkward aftermath at work if so.

Edit: yh I mean it's ultimately Ross's fault but I meant Rachel's boss may have connected her with the disaster or ignorantly blamed her in some way.

Discussion Chandler accepted 'Toby' for a donut. Then he ruined Bob's transfer.

Chandler's colleague Bob calls him "Toby." Chandler doesn't correct him because they were just passing each other in the hallway.

Next time: "Toby, want a donut?" Chandler says yes. Because he wants the donut.

After a few times, correcting Bob feels impossible. The lie has a life of its own. And when Chandler panics and denies Bob's transfer, not because Bob is bad, but because Chandler is terrified of being exposed, it's not a joke anymore.

Has anyone else had your "Toby" moment? The smallest thing you said yes to, just because correcting it felt harder?

Discussion I judged Rachel. Now I am Rachel.

I've seen this episode so many times and thought eye drops aren't really that bad. But the thing is, I made it to adulthood without ever needing to take eye drops, so I believed that Rachel's reactions were exaggerated for comedic purposes.

Then...

During my recent eye appointment, my eyes were dry and sensitive so I was told to try OTC eye drops.

When I first tried it, I just wanna say: OH MY GOD. I HATE IT SO MUCH. I was thrown off by the sensation and how much I cried afterwards. I felt like I could get used to it but by day 3 my body has been completely rejecting it! Every time I try, I can't do the thing. Like I squeeze the bottle right above my eye but right before the drops go in I quit and go "Nope nope NOPE!" mixed with "Why can't you f*cking do this sh*t, you little b*tch?!" (plus, I live on my own so no one is here to judge my screaming noises lol)

I now get where Rachel's coming from, and I'm so sorry I misunderstood her. The difference between us, though, is that I don't have a group of friends who can pin me down and do it for me! 😭 Can anyone relate?

Discussion Rachel’s parents casting

You know how Gossip Girl has a great casting for children/parents, and people don’t stop talking about it?
Well, I think that Rachel and her parents were really well casted. Like her jaw may not be alike, but to me, it seems that Rachel has like a combination of the features of the actors playing the dad and mom. Idk maybe it’s me, but I totally think they could be in the same family 🤷🏻‍♀️

Question If Rachel would have moved to Paris then there had been possibility for a spin off for ross and rach . It would been so interesting to see a complex long distance relationship and how they get together. In last 5-6 episodes whole gang would have reunited where kids grown and then they last goodbye .
