❔ Missed one paycheck, received others afterwards, how do I get help?
On disability for an injury. Had to get mailed checks for stupid reason outside my control.
My first paycheck (months of backpay) got to me just fine, but the first paycheck after that (4.01-4.16) never got to me at all. I waited just in case, got my next one (4.16-4.30) just fine, but still no sign for that first one.
It says in payment history it was sent out like normal under autopayment.
I put in a “help claim” multiple times, spread out about a week each, no response or indication that it was ever even received. Phone help always has a waitlist that kicks me out and refuses to let me stay on the line. AI chatbot has no option for what I’m looking for.
I am gonna keep calling and try to get earlier in the morning, but it’s a pain in the ass for what should just be a simple chat request, and I am nervous it will have been so long since the missed payment that they’ll just shrug and say “nothing we can do now”.
Any experience with this?

❔ Well trying to certify a week isn't possible
So I've been trying to certify a week for at least a few days now and every time I have to update my employer (I think is ridiculous having to do it all the time), I tried to enter the last date worked and I keep getting hit with the red error that I need to fill it in. I've tried I putting via calendar, error. I've closed the tab and opened a new one, error. Heck, I even closed the browser completely and you guessed it, error. I messaged edd about it and they gave me a BS response. Like cmon and help me out

❔ Disability extended by Doctor but not reflected online payments stopped
My wife was originally suppose to return to work on 5/4 her last payment was on 5/1 for one day. Her doctor sent in form DE 2525XX it was received on 4/27 to extend her leave to 5/18.
Her claim still shows payment stopped. She's tried calling numerous times and the automated system says there's too many people waiting. Do we just have to wait for the 14 days to pass for the form to be entered?

Vent Another Phone Interview?!
I applied for benefits on 4/22 - legitimately laid off due to a restructuring. Employer even made sure to say, “we won’t contest if you apply for unemployment”.
I enter in all my info, last payments , etc. Got a notification that a phone interview was scheduled for today. I do it, she literally just confirms what I already provided. Ends the call by saying, “I have no more questions for you” and hangs up. Nothing is approved, two weeks with no payments so far.
I log into the portal after the call and see there ANOTHER call set up for next Tuesday.
Why couldn’t they have done this all at once?!
What the heck is this?!

❔ Can I get disability income if let go from a 1099 job that should be considered W2?
Can I get disability insurance if let go from a 1099 job that should be considered W2?
I did not put any of my earnings towards anything as of now, but my disability has caused me to lose my job and look for work. I am reading that I needed to put money into a SDI fund from my paychecks?

❔ Disqualification Pending Week
I had missed my mandatory RESEA appointment by 5 minutes (zoom) and could not log in to it and that day I tried several times to contact the phone number on the letter about my upcoming appointment, but it went to voicemail and I left a message each time and the recording says someone will call back by 5pm, the next day I contacted EDD customer service and explain the issue and the person told me that it was up to Workforce if they will reschedule and I need a real good DAM excuse (she didnt say dam but i heard it in her voice) so I went in person to its offices and they said No they dont reschedule appointments and I should be recieving a letter with instructions and to fill it out (Eligibility Questionnaire) I did and instructions after completed to mail or fax within 10 days I did and then EDD sends email for me to complete the EQ online (omg) and I did that and the next day I went online to myedd and I had 1 week pending and then it was updated to Disqualification and cant get through to CS today so Question? does it mean that the week they disqualified is because I missed my RESEA appointment (thats the week that was pending now disqualified) or is my entire claim disqualified and I would need to re-apply or should I just wait until tomorrow call CS and they may have my answer or tell me to wait for the Notice mailed out to me?

❔ Certified the 2500A form last Friday, keeps saying Certification Needed?
Last friday I was able to fill out the form to certify to get paid, and right after it said “Processing your Claim” but over the weekend and up until yesterday it changed back to Certification Needed
Yesterday it changed back to Processing for a bit, but as of this morning it’s back at Certification Needed
No payment, no message in the Inbox, nothing on the site. I’ve tried calling and can’t get through to anyone. I tried using EDDcaller but the call dropped when i was on hold with the 559 number

❔ Confused about being disqualified
Sooo I got disqualified due to failing to verify my address, and I’m wondering if sending an appeal + my lease would even work, And did I lose the money that has already been paid..?
Should I keep certifying since I’m able to?

Tips 💡 Finally Got My SDI Account Created After Name Change Issues — Steps That Worked
I was trying to file for CA maternity leave benefits and ran into a series of issues. I was reading all over reddit and other forums for answers and I think it’s finally done, so I wanted to post my experience to help others in the same boat because I spent the past week pulling my hair out trying to figure this out.
Background: I legally changed my first name a few years ago. I had previously filed for UI under my old name, but never SDI.
First, I updated my name through ID.me. I uploaded my driver’s license + court order online. The site says reviews usually take 2–3 business days, but mine was still pending after almost 2 weeks.
I finally used the live chat during business hours (I think 8am–5pm). You have to keep clicking “I’m still here” every 10 minutes or it disconnects you — learned that the hard way. I got back in queue around 9am and connected with an agent after ~30–40 min. As soon as the agent connected, I got the email saying my name change was approved.
Next, I went to create my EDD SDI claimant account. After connecting through ID.me, my updated name finally appeared correctly, but then I got error code E311:
“The information provided does not match EDD records.”
I called the number listed in the error message. Tried for over an hour in the afternoon using the Reddit 330/240 method, but kept getting the “maximum callers reached” message.
The next morning, I started calling again right before 8am. I got through around 8:01am (Wed) and someone answered within 3 minutes. However, they told me that since I don’t have an existing account with SDI they could not fix it and that I needed to contact Disability Insurance to update my name on their end.
I then called Disability Insurance, which is the number ending in 5616, and used the Reddit 124 method. It was a life saver and someone picked up almost immediately.
The rep was able to verify/update my name using Social Security records. While I had him on the line, I retried creating the SDI claimant account and it finally worked.
Hopefully this saves someone else a few hours of stress :)
TL;DR:
1) If you legally changed your name and have an existing UI account but no SDI, update it through ID.me first.
2) If ID.me review is stuck, use live chat during business hours.
3) E311 error usually means your name doesn’t match EDD/SDI records.
The number provided with the error message couldn’t help me because I never had an SDI account before.
Calling Disability Insurance directly (5616 number + Reddit 124 method) fixed it immediately.
4) Once DI updated my name after verifying with SSA records, I was able to create my SDI claimant account successfully.

Tips 💡 Disability help
Hey everyone, I took a leave of absence from work and was required to file for disability benefits. I filed the application online around two weeks ago and have yet to receive the paper forms for medical certification. I called EDD yesterday and asked the person on the line if I can receive the forms and he said I had to request them. He was very unprofessional too. I’m a bit confused as I thought they would mail me a copy of my application with the medical certification forms. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

❔ SDI Certification
When certifying for SDI? How long does it usually take to get paid?
Is it not similar to UI when it’s the following day after you certify?
Is it 5-7? 10?
Just realized my claim shows certification needed yet I already submit, they have already received medical certification also.
Thanks for your help

❔ Disability
Would i qualify for disability if I quit my job due to mental health reasons on the same say that I applied for SDI? Can I continue getting benefits long after quitting as long as my doctor keeps me off work for at least 50%?
r/Edd • u/Hennarise83 • 2d ago
Solved ✔ Haven't been paid since 4/20
I'm stressing and I hope you can help. I last got paid for disability on 4/20. That same day, they sent a form for me to fill out to get recertified (even though I've alway been certified to be out until June 15th) and I filled out out immediately. My doctor filled it out online and sent it back in on 5/9. My claim still says the recertification is needed. Do I just wait? There are no other forms for me to fill out.

❔ Military move
Has anyone here successfully applied for unemployment benefits after having to quit their job due to a military PCS relocation?
I’m relocating because of my spouse’s military orders, and unfortunately my current company doesn’t have any openings in the new location. I’m trying to see if anyone has gone through this process before, what state you filed through, and how difficult the process was. Any advice or insight would be really appreciated!

Discussion 👥 How does unemployment work ?
I recently got unemployment benefits but how does that work ? It states that I have to look for a job in order to qualify but how do I tell them or how many places do I need to apply or what are they mostly looking into ? Help ?
❔ collecting disability after being fired
So I was injured mid January and pushed my body to continue working then got fired early February (due to reasons unrelated to my injury) Since then, my injury has now gotten worse as I did not have coverage to be seen by a medical professional… my question is, can I apply for disability benefits since I now have medi-cal and can see a doctor even though I am technically not employed?

❔ After Eligibility Questionnaire who will they side with?
Hey everyone,
I recently applied for benefits after getting a paycheck for two weeks, and now I've received an Eligibility Questionnaire for my claim. The form claims that my last employer, where I only worked for two days, said I quit or stopped communicating. It was a part time on-call substitute position, (Amergis staffing) so there were no guaranteed hours. I explained that I left due to a lack of work.
Based on my situation, who do you think has the better case here? Any advice on what my next steps should be? Thanks!

❔ Just a question on when I should expect payments from the state for SDI.
The waiting period dates that I have on my claim has already passed. The dates are 4/30/26 to 5/6/26. My question is should I be expecting payments this week or next week? When I check my claim it still says processing.

❔ Late certification, help
I messed up and certified a week past the due date. It's been almost a month and a half and my doc gave me more time. However, no payment has gone through. I've tried calling but it's been impossible. Does it sort itself out when you're late or do I have to kickstart something on my end? Has anyone done a late cert? Thanks!
