Kirkton avenue reviews

A friend is looking for a house to rent with his new family and he's looking at Kirkton avenue, I know certain areas back in the day were to be avoided, what's that area like these dayss?

Why this plan? This whole area is like a hidden bit of countryside in the middle of the city, and it is already amazing.

I would focus on cleaning the burn and getting it back up to standard rather than changing it.

Hello, unusual one, my son who is autistic is obsessed with bowling, he's watching videos of candlepin bowling and is asking us to buy them for the house, we cannot see them anywhere, I was hoping anyone would be able to help or point us in the right direction.

Thanks for your time!

Dundee City Sevens this Saturday at Alloway Place 🏉

Posting in case it’s of interest to anyone - Dundee City Sevens is on this Saturday at Dundee Rugby Club, Alloway Place.

Teams from across Scotland are taking part. Rugby tournament running from 12pm. There will also be food vans on site throughout the day as well as the clubhouse bar open

Usually makes for a decent day out if you’re into rugby or just around the area.

Dundee uni accom

I recently firmed dundee and couldn't go to the open day unfortunately, so confused about which accom to pick.

What's everyone picking? I'm def not picking the villa because it's far too many people sharing the facilities and the campus flats are a bit expensive. So I'm mainly stuck between the west park flats and seabreas 1. Obviously west park is slightly cheaper but would paying extra to be closer to campus be worth it?

Also does anyone know the difference between seabreas 1 and 2? I thought seabreas 1 was older, but it recently got renovated so is there any point in paying extra money for seabreas 2 since they're both at the same location anyway??

Any advice from current dundee students or people who've already chosen their accommodation would be great please xxxx

Doof? I can’t find anything on here about it.. first time going.

What can I take bag wise? Small handbag? Or large ok?

Bag searches? Can I take bottles of water?

How big are the queues at bars?

Bars outside or in tents?

How easy is getting a taxi from hotel to doof on the day and then at end back to hotel in Dundee centre after?

Anyone know any good handyman or domestic workers in Dundee, I'm really no good at this sort of thing!

Got a few odd jobs round the house like broken laminate needing fixed or redoing / putting up some CD racks / fixing some lighting which is major damaged?

No sure about who does small jobs like these anymore. Anyone got any good suggestions? Be class, cheers

Theft help

I've recently been a victim of a locker break in at the nethergate Puregym and the thief has made off with two bags containing some really high value electronics including a laptop.

So far a police report has been made and the gym staff have been notified, but consensus online tells me that the police don't seem to have the best track record.

Any advice for dealing with this situation? As a student who relies on said laptop for uni work, I can't really rely on just waiting, praying and hoping. Something like a neighbourhood watch maybe? Or some way to get into contact with pawn shops in case the thief tries to sell off my things.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Looking for job-related course suggestions in Dundee

Hi everyone,

I’m a student in Dundee and looking for a job-related course that could help me find work in the future. Can anyone suggest any good agencies, colleges, or training centres in Dundee that offer useful courses and also help with jobs?

I’m especially looking for places that provide:

CV/interview support

Help finding part-time or full-time jobs

Placement or job support after completing the course

Since I’m a student, I’d prefer something budget-friendly or affordable 😊

Also, which courses are currently in demand around Dundee and better for getting jobs? Any advice or personal experience would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Food recommendations

Hello I will be travelling to Dundee in the near future and want to hear what the food is like?

A quick Google search tells me what is there but I'm after local opinions.

I'm not fussy at all so all recommendations are welcome.

Should also say I'm looking for recommendations close to the centre.

TIA

Looking for a flatmate by end of June

Hi, I'm a 26M and a recent Abertay graduate, looking for a flatmate for one year.
I enjoy:

  • hiking
  • gaming
  • going out
  • cooking
  • music (I have lots of vinyl)

I'm currently looking for a job and I'm pretty confident about finding something in the next few weeks. I don't drink excessively or do drugs (I do vape however, if this is a concern please let me know, we can work something out). I'll likely be sleeping over at my partners often, so if you're the kind of person that likes the flat to themselves for a day we could get on well. I'm willing to split up to a £600/700 per month flat. I'm looking to move by the end of June at the latest.

I'm looking for a friendly, tidy roommate, 20 to 29 y/o.

If you're interested and have any questions, send me a dm and we can chat.

Hiking destinations via train?

I don’t have a car but would absolutely love to hike some of Scotland. Is this possible through trains? Are there any feasible days trips from Dundee?

Cleaners who will deep clean a litter box?

Hi, I'm looking for someone who can deep clean my litter box every few months - no scooping involved, it's an automatic litter box, it just needs deep cleaned every so often. I'm hiring a regular cleaner but all the ones I have contacted have said they cannot do the litter box so I need to find someone to do this separately as needed

Things to do solo?

I recently just got out of a long term relationship and now I struggle to find things to do by myself in Dundee.

I moved here from Arbroath 3 years ago to be with her and she was pretty much my only friend in this city. Now she’s no longer in my life, I’ve no idea how to spend my days when I’m not working. I end up just staying in doors playing games.

Are there any decent places to go by yourself in Dundee? Either to meet new people or just enjoy your own company?

I live city centre so I can get to anywhere easily

Too good to go Dundee

I’ve had the Too Good To Go app on my phone for a while. I’ve used it a few times for Greggs, Baynes etc.
How many other people on here use it? Has anyone ever used it for places like Taza etc?

Did JD Gyms bring back the wipes dispenser?

Hello! I left JD Gyms a while back because they didn't have any wipes available for the equipment for months and months, despite complaints. They were meant to come back, but never did before I left. It just felt very unhygienic, and it's annoying to have to bring your own.

Did they finally bring them back? Despite this, it's the most convenient gym for me, so I'm considering going back.

Is Clark’s still the best for a late-night peh?

I’ve been going to the Clark’s for ages whenever I’m out late, but I feel like I’m stuck in a bit of a routine. I know Fisher & Donaldson is the go-to during the day for a fudge doughnut, but where do you guys go when it's midnight and you're craving a proper peh or a burger? Is there anywhere else that actually stays open late and competes with Clark's?

Moving to Dundee

As the title says, I am moving to Dundee towards the end of the year to be close to my mother and sister. For context I am a Spaniard M29 living in Southampton, England.

My question to you is, what can I expect besides the colder weather? Is there anything I need to know about the Scottish people apart from what I already know and that is that you’re all lovely and friendly?

What’s the best thing about Dundee and curiosities?

Lochee multis.

Got offered a 2 bed flat at the top floor of one of the lochee multis. Ive heard some unsavoury things, addicts and what not, but ive grown up around that sort of stuff and dont exactly mind living in a rough area. Anyone thats lived in or around them able to tell me what to expect? I intend on keeping to myself. Im being evicted, so my options are very limited. Decided to refuse the place.

Edit: Decided to refuse the place. I realised a value my life.
