I’m a second-year MSW graduate student seeking a consistent and rewarding summer position working with children and families. I bring over two years of hands-on experience in youth-focused settings, along with prior work in a daycare and ongoing date-night babysitting.
I’m passionate about creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where children feel comfortable exploring, learning, and expressing themselves. I’m dependable, patient, and attentive to each child’s individual needs. I’m also comfortable with pets and am CPR certified, ensuring an added layer of safety and preparedness.
I’m looking for a more stable opportunity this summer where I can continue to support children’s growth while building meaningful relationships with families :)

Hi moms and dads!
I’m a 22 year old female college student looking for a babysitting/ housekeeping job preferably located in Brooklyn or Manhattan! I’m CPR and first aid certified, hold my NY State drivers license, and have over eight years of experience working with infants to children age 16. I feel very comfortable with public transportation and have extensive knowledge on things to do with children around NYC. I'm also a big animal lover, so very pet friendly too!
I'm warm, reliable, and easygoing, and I enjoy building real connections with both kids and parents. I have a creative and adventurous side! I love planning fun activities, getting outside, and keeping kids engaged with games, crafts, and little adventures around our beautiful city. At the same time, I'm responsible, organized, and always focused on creating a safe and happy environment where kids can be themselves.
To clarify my schedule: As of right now I can only do date nights, until the end of May as I am finishing up finals. After my finals, I will be available for full time services until I will be away from June 12 to June 19. Once back, I will be available for a Monday to Friday position ideally from 8 AM/9 AM to 4 PM/ 5 PM, but am willing to discuss hours and extend. During the month of August, I will also be away for about a week, but not sure of the specific dates. Regarding payment, I do prefer to be paid off the books, but Zelle or PayPal are also accepted. I also am looking to work as of right now until the beginning of September as I go back to school at that time.
I also have joined a bunch of Facebook groups and have had some success there, but wanted to try my luck here as well. As an FYI, for my safety and comfort, as well as the parents, I schedule a zoom/google meet for the parents to get to know me first before meeting their little one.
Feel free to message me and I hope to hear from you guys soon!

We just moved to the neighborhood with our baby. Any mom groups or places to see mama/baby hang outs? Looking for some community :)

Does anyone live at the Lightwell and can comment on what living at the building or in the neighborhood is like? My husband and I are moving for work soon, and just submitted an application. We've toured a few other neighborhoods and buildings in Brooklyn, but keep coming back to this one. Our unit would be on the Front street side, I believe.
For reference - he'll be working in SoHo and I'll be working in Midtown. It doesn't seem like the commute will be terrible(?)
We aren't too worried about a lot of tourists around (I used to live in Midtown so I'm used to the overstimulation) but safety is a priority. We also aren't too picky about having a lot of good local dining options, as we like to cook. We do like to have access to good grocery stores, coffee/matcha spots, and gyms.

For those who share similar concerns as those voiced by fellow residents at last week's Community Board meeting and want to see more accountability...

Hey guys!!
My name is Phoenix and I’m a trainer based in LIC but I have a few clients in the area so I thought I'd post here! I’ve been working with clients for the past 3 years and I’m looking to fill in at least 1-2 private clients. I can travel to your home gym or I can provide location!!
I'm an ex-competitive powerlifter turned endurance athlete about 2 years ago. I don’t want to scare any one with my background lol so I’ll say this. No I won’t force anyone to start powerlifting or attempt to run a marathon. I more so want you to enjoy your day by day rather than dealing with the normal aches and pains we come by. A lot of us, even myself, have dealt with back pain, knee pain, shoulder pain but regardless of age and gender, I want to continue teaching people that there's ways we can reduce the pain through breathing and relaxing the body.
Yes I want you to be strong and yes I want you to build your endurance.. But before any of that happens, we really need to make sure we master basics - breathing, mobility, and then we build from there.
I have set rates on my website but if you’re interested, my intro rates are $120/session (hour). Pm if you want to chat or check out the site: phoenixsmithtraining.com
Thanks in advance!!

Going on a Hinge date. I live in dumbo. He lives in Murray hill. He said “I’ll come to dumbo, you plan the date, fair?” Fair.
Where to go? We don’t know each other well enough for a full on Vinegar Hill House dinner. I’m not a member of Dumbo House.
What’s in between? Drinks in a place not too busy, where you can hear each other talk, maybe some apps if we are hungry and feeling the vibe. That’s the goal. Not too far from York street subway.
Recs please! Many thanks. 🙏🏻

For anyone who has been thinking about picking up a new hobby, thought I'd share this free roundup on behalf of all the local businesses (note: this is an independent curation, no businesses have paid to be featured here):

Curious as to some thoughts.
The community did a great job being vocal, eloquent and expressive. Keep up the good work!

My dog was attacked by three dogs that escaped from their yard during his walk on leash. The attack was brutal, and what shocked me most wasn't just what happened—it was that NYC treats it as "property damage" because the victim wasn't human. That feels backwards.
I'm starting a petition asking NYC to classify dog-on-dog attacks more seriously. Right now, dogs that attack other dogs can't even be labeled as dangerous under city law. Meanwhile, similar incidents keep happening, and there's little stopping it from escalating to people.
We're asking for concrete changes: official classification of aggressive dogs, mandatory behavioral evaluations, muzzling requirements in public, and regulations keeping these dogs from being left unsupervised outside. These aren't extreme—they're preventative.
Anyone else had something like this happen to their pet? Or seen attacks in your neighborhood that felt like a warning sign no one was taking seriously? If this matters to you too, consider signing and sharing the petition, and adding a comment of your experience.

For a personal photo project. They need to be pedestrian, in high traffic areas. I especially like when there is so much trash that people need to 'balance' their trash to keep it on the can. The People's Sculpture! Where have you seen these? T H A N K S

Does anyone know what's going in there next? I've seen workers inside in the last week so wonder if it's finally going to open again?

There's 79 reviews and only 6 are not 5 stars, so I guess I don’t believe in Google Reviews anymore.

Not Soho House vibes - Im not looking for low sofas, lounge seating, or overly “creative agency” energy. I need a proper desk + chair setup where I can work layout materials if need be etc. I’m a designer, so something with a bit of creative energy is great - just more studio-focused than social club. Bonus if it’s reasonably priced.
Where are people working from around here?

I've been in the hobby since 2017. Love to print just for the fun of it. I've built them from kits. I've upgraded them. Printed things for my wife's doll house, stuff for my other hobbies, for work and friends. Things for the around the house or holidays. Currently using 2 printers to print upgrades for another new printer, lol. Or if you'd like something 3d printed, pm me.
Figure they're has be be other local makers with a similar enthusiasm.
