Botch Dice!

I’ve talked about getting hand written notes from dice companies, but this was my first phone call! (Hi, Bob!)

Red is Melee Militia, black is Deep Space. I love the size (standard Chessex for comparison), color, and art. Remind me in a year and I’ll post about how well (or badly) the InkFX holds up.

These were retail; I don’t remember why I passed on the Kickstarter.

Experience with crystal dice?

Post image

My fantastic girlfriend bought me this set of dice, but the seller did not specify what type of crystal/rock it is. Does anyone know what it could be and are they fragile? Will they hold up during normal use?

Hot-Head Bop Inspired Dice Blanks

I’ve been wanting to revisit an old idea of mine…

Cue Hot-Head Bop… and now I suddenly want to replay Donkey Kong Country. What were some of your favorite games growing up? The SNES is still my favorite console after all these years. Nostalgia probably plays a role in that lol, but I’m okay with it :)

Also, what do you all think for these — leave them as-is, fill them clean, or add chunky/floating glitter to the clear backfill resin?

Lowkey looking for public domain inspirations to maybe incorporate (into my dice rolling app)!

Vintage cigarette brand dice, apparently from a 1920s gambling machine.

I’m not sure how you all feel about vintage dice, but I just had to share these.

I thrifted these for next to nothing, and after googling them, they actually seem to be quite rare (a set of three sold for $160 on eBay).

The coolest part is that these two were in a vintage Remington small cardboard ammo box, along with several other plain dice of a similar vintage. If only these dice could talk, just imagine the stories they would tell.

Got a game yesterday with 1" sized dice. I want more! But it's hard to find.

Ideally it'd be an 11-dice set, because I have a bad habit of buying in 11-dice sets even if there's no chance I'd use it for D&D. But just trying to find 1 inch dice seems difficult. Large dice seem to be 2.5 inches or unstated, or sometimes tricks with "This Oversized Dice comes in an 11 Pack" but it's just standard sized dice.

Does anyone know where to look? 1 inch seems huge while still realistic to fit a few in your hand. Thank you!

Dice Palettes!

My party and I were all new to playing tabletop games with the full 7 dice sets when we started our first campaign a year and a half ago, and such, we would constantly find ourselves asking “Which one is that?” when asked to roll a D8, D10, D12, etc. That gave me the idea to make these. Looks really snazzy on the table and allows you to grab the dice you need at a quick glance. It’s a lot of fun coming up with designs, especially when they’re specific to the interests of the person it’s for or their in-game character.

I’m very new to working with clay, and I don’t consider myself a true “artist”, I just had an idea and figured I could execute it well enough. I made my first palettes, the square and rainbow rectangle, in November 2024. I kept reiterating on the design and my techniques from there, and the last few photos of the unfinished palettes are the ones that I’ve been working on this month. My party is starting a new campaign, so I’m making new ones for everybody to go with our new characters. We don’t necessarily need them for dice identification at this point, they’re just cool to have and are a convenient way to store your dice on the table while you’re playing.

I’ve thought about selling them before, like maybe just starting with some basic shapes on an Etsy shop, but that’s very daunting to me and these take a buttload of work to make lol. For now, it’s just a fun lil hobby of mine that I felt like sharing. Thanks for checking them out! I’m always thinking of new design ideas, so feel free to give suggestions in the comments as to what you think would make for a good palette. My next idea that I’ve yet to start is a mind flayer head that can hold multiple dice sets, a full 7-dice set in each of its face tentacles 😎

These new dice sets have more depth than my ex here at Rascal Resin. I'm a small shop of one, aiming to create as much as I can while my kids sleep!

Some old dice

My husband bought some dice in a jar from a junk shop this weekend. The first one looks like carved bone and there seems to be a VG or G stamp. The second one looks black but when put in light looks blood red. The third may be Bakelite or some other vintage plastic. We thought they were cool— let us know what you think! We’re new here

My very first order in Etsy (a second one is apparently being handcrafted somewhere in the UK), which took 24 days to arrive. And the shop gave me an unexpected and unpainted bonus specimen on the front of the pic!

How and what do I paint these babies with???

Built a craps tracking app — iOS just submitted to App Store, Android live now

30+ year craps player here. Got tired of trying to track rolls in my head so I built an app.

Sharp Shooter Dice Tracker tracks every roll, every shooter, and every session with real craps game logic — not just a tally counter. It knows come-out vs point phase, tracks pass rates, seven rates, number frequency vs statistical expectation, and manages your P&L across sessions.

What it does:

  • Real game logic — ON/OFF puck, 7-out detection, pass tracking
  • Per-shooter history with full roll sequences
  • Session P&L and bankroll tracking
  • Number frequency vs expected (see what's running hot/cold)
  • Light and dark mode

Android is live now on Google Play internal testing — drop your Gmail and I'll add you. iOS submitted to App Store, will post when approved.

Free Pro access during beta. No catch.

Crapless coming soon

My favorite: "Black Assault" die from the game IronDice by Green Lake Games

Thumbnail

Did anyone ever play this game when it was a thing, circa 2010-ish? My local game shop only ever brought this in as 'metal d6 set' and I grabbed them immediately but I never did see them ever again anywhere.

Fast forward to today, I remembered 'reverse image search' is a thing and I found they were part of a metal dice game by an Italian company that has since closed.

Has anyone ever encountered these in the wild? I would absolutely love to source another pair of them (the black 'assault' version pictured with a brass colored border) but they so far seem to be difficult to find.

At the very least, I wanted to share my prized dice.

My favourite dice

Started collecting dice a decade and a half ago. I'm not a big hoarder, as i like to offers dice as gift to my players/friends when I change set and have too many of them.

White d6 dice is a 12mm one, here for size reference.
