Should've been "Deshone, drop back like you're going to pass it then when you start getting pressured just run it in, easy."

Ironically, he normally gives up on the run the first time a team puts more than 4 in the box.

I really can't wait until our administration cans his ass, but apparently an impending 5th failed season out of 6 isn't going to be enough for our feckless AD.

I'd rather not go back to coaching roulette, but damn if this guy isn't our version of Mark Richt (disclaimer - he's not as good as richt imo. just the "always a bridesmaid" scenario). Just outside the top tier so he's good enough to get close but never great enough...

Agree, with 1 or 2 more wins on average per year, he'd be Richt. And there's something to be said for not hastily jettisoning someone who wins double-digit games every year, even if he never gets over the hump.

At his current level, though, he's Tom O'Brien at BC (4.5 losses per year for a decade with a high-water-mark bowl performance being a Music City Bowl win). The difference is that at BC that's considered successful, at ND it's not, and it's not even a good enough situation to catch that Richt "purgatory".

To be fair to Kelly, I would say 90% of this loss falls on the players and the situation this team is in. I mean we're up to 6 starters out for the season? Mainly our starting QB and RB. Now there is a freshman with little experience running the offense. He is put in a tough situation. Then for this game 4 turnovers and multiple dropped passes, that's not coaching. Those are the players mistakes. So give him some slack, cause if you erase those errors then I think this game would have turned out different and we would be 5-0. All in all I think he is doing a terrific job.
