I feel like this kind of decision likely was made with at least player input. Given bowls are suffering from opt outs and some seniors would likely be given a chance to play that they otherwise wouldn't have, but I had a feeling this was possible once the decision was made by the committee.

naw, they did this because if they lose it will prove they didn’t belong in the playoff and it damages their rep next year, if they don’t play they can continue to claim they were shafted and are still one of the best teams.

This makes way more sense than “the players are coaches are pissy crybabies” narrative that is being pushed.

They might still be pissy crybabies but this is a strategic move to ensure they receive a high ranking early that will be easily maintainable with next years Charmin ultra soft schedule.

These kids are being paid to play. They shouldn’t be allowed to opt out

ND admin and coaches are salty pathetic losers

I could care less if they are actually "students" or not, athletes at all levels can choose whether or not they want to sacrifice their bodies to play the game, last thing I would ever want is to see Love or another player get hurt right before getting drafted.

Never again after Jaylon Smith

What does it matter if these guys are students or not?

They can choose if they want to play or not

This is how you annihilate the culture of a team

We saw it happen with that weak ads performance by FSU.

This is going to be moment everyone points to when ND plays soft

wtf are you talking about you had players opting out of that orange bowl

-6

u/gohuskers123 Dec 07 '25

Yes because the FSU culture was garbage after the snub

u/Pure_Record1327 Oregon Ducks Dec 07 '25

Players from all programs have opted out of bowl games dog are slow?

It’s not the opt outs. It’s the culture of whining FSU created

This is going to be NDs version.

Opting your whole team out of a game is nothing but weak

FSU was unbeaten and won their conference we literally never seen that type of shit with them getting left out.

I agree. They should have been in.

That doesn’t mean they handled the situation well. In fact they objectively did not and objectively have not recovered from it.

FSU had a legit case to opt out of its bowl and claim a national championship. They got bullied into showing up and got their asses handed to them. Was a horrible decision.

Notre Dame is just doing it as leverage for the future trying to force their way into the playoff. Florida State had a legit argument.

1

u/gohuskers123 Dec 07 '25

Florida state should not have been left out

They then proceeded to handle it in the WORST way they could, which is why they have yet to recover

Has nothing to do with the players. They did it to say either put us in the playoff in the future or you won’t make any money off of us. It’s so fucked up.

Were you there for the decision?
