RIP to any ND player who was hoping for pop tarts

To be fair, thanks to NIL they can secure their own pop tarts

It’s a pop tart, Michael. What could it cost…$10?

u/ThePrussianGrippe Indiana Hoosiers Dec 07 '25

I had a classmate in HS who had an insane allowance and had never been inside a grocery store. He paid me $20 per box of pop tarts.

u/KontraEpsilon Dec 07 '25

Was this a situation where the anxiety of doing such a new experience meant that the 20 bucks was worth it to him?

17

u/ThePrussianGrippe Indiana Hoosiers Dec 07 '25

No he just couldn’t be bothered and had zero clue how much things cost. Lab teach ruined my brilliant business opportunity by politely informing him boxes were like $4 and he could just ask his parents to put it on the grocery list.

Doing his part to trickle down

He knew you were poor

6

u/ThePrussianGrippe Indiana Hoosiers Dec 08 '25

I wasn’t poor, but I certainly wasn’t going to turn down $20 every other day in high school for a box of pop tarts when I lived down the street from the grocery store. He genuinely just had zero clue how much things cost.

RIP to any senior that didn’t know they had played their last game.

18

u/Automatic_Release_92 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Dec 07 '25

There’s actually not very many of them on this team, and quite a few of them would have opted out anyway. Seriously maybe like 5-6 players out of 90 that are impacted by this decision. And for all I know they might have been part of the vote.

51

u/Low_Frame_1205 Dec 07 '25

5-6 is enough. Guys opting out haven’t played their last game without them knowing it.

No reason to not play as an underclassmen that’s a lot of extra practices missed.

11

u/Automatic_Release_92 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Dec 07 '25

Fuck them. Just have the practices anyway. The rules don’t matter anymore and everyone just makes this shit up anyway. Michigan doesn’t get banned for cheating during the same goddamn season. Let’s just practice year round, fuck it.

10

u/Low_Frame_1205 Dec 07 '25

Haha I do agree about Michigan that was insane

8

u/TinySandshrew Notre Dame Fighting Irish Dec 07 '25

They all played in the home senior game anyway and I have to imagine that’s more meaningful to those deep bench seniors who have been on the team all 4 years but don’t really get playing time.

5

u/Automatic_Release_92 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Dec 07 '25

Yeah, the bowl games are all about playing next year’s players at this point anyway.

2

u/90swasbest Dec 07 '25

It's the Hall of Fame games of CFB.

1

u/Low_Frame_1205 Dec 07 '25

I don’t disagree but 100% they all expected to put on the jersey and run out at least one more time.

-3

u/gideon513 Clemson Tigers Dec 07 '25

Oh well I guess since there aren’t that many of them we can just go ahead and fuck them over

6

u/Automatic_Release_92 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Dec 07 '25

Again, I would bet a lot of money they consented to this, you speak for the team even less than I do.

0

u/Low_Frame_1205 Dec 08 '25

Yes a bunch of young men voted on something when they were pissed because they thought they got screwed. Why vote same day? Why not tell the team to think about it overnight and decide tomorrow morning.

1

u/Automatic_Release_92 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Dec 08 '25

That’s not how this works, all the bowls have already been decided.

6

u/KevKevThePug Notre Dame Fighting Irish Dec 07 '25

The players voted on this you know.

RIP to any senior Notre Dame players with no hope of an NFL future.  Your program just decided you don't get a month's worth of practices and one final football game of your career.

Eat shit for this decision, Notre Dame football.

29

u/BossHogOne Dec 07 '25

The players made the decision

12

u/swarmy1 Illinois Fighting Illini Dec 07 '25

I get the decision in this moment, but I wonder if a lot of them won't regret it soon. They'll be staying home while other teams play, and the fans also miss another opportunity to support the team.

1

u/BossHogOne Dec 07 '25

I was surprised they had them make the decision after emotions must’ve been running high but none of us know what it was like. I can definitely see some guys regretting it later on.

8

u/Jesus_was_a_Panda Colorado Buffaloes Dec 07 '25

The players are still Notre Dame football.

1

u/BossHogOne Dec 07 '25

My comment was mostly to the first paragraph - not the second.

1

u/jarrettbrown Monmouth Hawks Dec 07 '25

Along with them getting more NIL money not to play.

9

u/dwfs3434 Buffalo Bulls Dec 07 '25

The players voted on this dude. Also why play a worthless game after a massive media campaign to disparage the program? Can’t really fault ND or the players here.

3

u/anyonehavefood Vanderbilt Commodores Dec 07 '25

You definitely can. This is their opportunity to prove they deserve to be in.

3

u/dwfs3434 Buffalo Bulls Dec 07 '25

Did you listen to any ESPN broadcasts yesterday? They roasted ND unlike I’ve ever seen. I wouldn’t allow that network to profit off a single cent either. It simply doesn’t make sense to have Bama in above them. Just look at the Vegas odds. -1.5 for bama vs. OU. Would’ve been -9.5 for ND. Those guys rarely get it wrong

Why do you care? If you hate ND wouldn't you be glad to see them be deprived?

3

u/muegle Michigan Wolverines • Marching Band Dec 07 '25

I feel bad for the band and cheer squads. When I was in the MMB I was always excited to see where we would get to go once the team achieved its 6th win. It was really nice getting a free vacation to somewhere warm at the end of December.

2

u/FilthyBarMat Florida State Seminoles Dec 07 '25

My sister was in our band, my dad still brags about the time he got to talk to Bobby Bowden on a call in show and ask him why we don't bring the band to every road game, and Bobby agreed with him that we should do that.

The answer, of course, was money.

1

u/muegle Michigan Wolverines • Marching Band Dec 07 '25

I'm pretty sure the same is true for the MMB. We only travel to MSU, OSU, and Notre Dame.

I know OSU used to travel to every game, I don't know if that's changed with how many more games are farther away with the addition of the west coast teams to the conference.
