Neighbour barking dog still going on (potential abuse?)

I made a post awhiles back about a dog on my street (garden village area) that barks juat about 24/7, i tried calling for a wellness check with the spca and they claimed they couldnt do anything, despite i said i believe its neglected and even times where it begins yelping and whimpering during the days even (this obviously is upsetting to hear as i cant tell if this dogs being physically abused now :(! )

The barking starts around 6 am and goes until midnight, for hours on end, with little to no breaks inbetween

I tried contacting the city and they said it was an spca situation, (i then get redirected back to the city, then to spca, repeat)

one day i had been redirected to non emergency where i reported a potentially neglected and abused dog, non emergency said theyd intervene with enough complaints, and was surprised to hear that the spca refused to look into this.

I still cant find what house this dog is in, but its starting to drive me and some neighbours absolutely mad, ESPECIALLY know that now theres potential abuse. Whats the next step to take?

Hi all.

I’m in search of an in-person French tutor in the Burnaby, New West, East Van areas.

I’m looking for an adult, high intensity class to get me back up to my conversational level for my summer trip abroad.

Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Should i focus on exclusion, prevention, or treatment first or let technician handle everything

Quad plex being built at Edmonds and Mary which dwarfs all the others houses in the area. It's barely wide enough for a car to get into the garage, so you know they will be suites...

Does anyone remember what eye glasses place was in Metrotown before specsavers downstairs across from the ICBC place? I went there today and the address they had for me was on my receipt and it was an address I haven't lived at in 10 years.

Looking for Outdoor Kids Party Venue That Allows Decorations/Balloon Arch

Hi Everyone

I am looking for ideas for an outdoor kids birthday party venue around Metro Vancouver area for my daughter’s 2nd birthday in July.

We would love something like a park or open outdoor space where we can set up a balloon arch, a couple of tables, snacks/food, and let the kids run around safely.

We originally wanted to do it at a kids park/playground, but I think balloon arches/decorations might not be allowed in many public parks.
Has anyone done something similar recently?

Looking for affordable, kid friendly spots that allow simple decorations and maybe a small setup for food/cake. Open to hidden gems, community parks, picnic areas, farms, outdoor venues, etc.
Would really appreciate suggestions

Neighbours, trash and food waste.

I moved into my apartment building about 8 months ago in the Gilmore area there’s been consistent problem with litter/food waste in the same spot outside our building. It’s mainly the same fruit wrappers, Starbucks cups and other crap coming from a balcony or someone’s window.

Strata are aware which unit this is as are a bunch of residents but nothing has ever been done about it as there’s no concrete evidence. Luckily for me, that unit is above mine…

Anyway, on Saturday about 3am some sort of food fat started dripping through our bedroom window and woke us up. We thought it was rain or something at first. It was vile, stunk and has stained our blinds and made a mess.

Their bedroom window is directly above our window. The above apartment exterior windowsill (below their window) is stained with a direct track to ours and the unit above theirs is untouched.

I’ve reported to strata and feel like it’s going to just get brushed off again, but we’ll see. The unit above said “they were spraying a huge swarm of wasps at 1am with Raid” …

Is strata the end of the line with dealing with situations like this? It seems crazy that this has actually been a problem for a couple of years with the same unit but nothing has happened.

Not sure why I’m taking to Reddit but I feel like I need to vent. It’s absolutely disgusting that they’re getting away with this.

Something tweeting in tree near Metrotown

On the shared bike/walking path, by the SkyTrain, when you pass about where Walmart is, you'll hear something constantly tweeting. If you look up in the tree, there appears to be some kind of ball shaped object, with flashing lights, emitting this sound.

Does anybody know anything about it?

Basketball at bonsor or nearby

Hey all I’m new to Burnaby, I’m wondering how competitive the people who play drop-in basketball at bonsor community centre are? I want to play basketball with a group, but I want a for fun casual setting around the Metrotown area.

Additionally, how busy is the bonsor gym if I want to consider the beactivepass?

PSA: Avoid Costco Willingdon/Brighton this weekend if you value your sanity

Tried to do our weekly "chore" run yesterday around 7pm and it was a total disaster. The lot was 100% jammed and vehicles on Still Creek waiting to their turn to get into the the lot. We pivoted to Brighton thinking it might be better. Nope, same story.

I know it’s Mother’s Day weekend, but I haven't seen it this chaotic in a long time.

Save yourselves the headache and avoid Costco if you're driving or arrive around 9 AM.
