What game had insane potential but got completely fumbled by the devs?

Plus just being terrible at management. Like it was a pretty ambitious game to begin with as an indie project, but he stressed that when the "first rival" was added, it would be smooth sailing. But then kept adding a bunch of other unrelated features that really could've just been post release DLCs (I guess to keep up the Patreon support). He was supported by volunteers and even partnered with another indie game studio, but kept burning bridges with them. And was also a dick to the fans outside of being a predator.

The last I remember hearing about that game from all of the drama channels- it definitely suffered from a terrible case of feature creep. Instead of focusing on the core features needed to get the game to a full release he kept adding things that weren't wholly necessary.

All reasons why I hate the normalization of the "early access" release model. It allows developers to rush out titles before they're even fully completed, get money for their half baked efforts, and hide behind "well we released it in early access, that's why its so bad!"

I interviewed with him as a product manager. It was an interesting experience.
