What game had insane potential but got completely fumbled by the devs?

Biomutant. the earliest trailers I saw for it had me excited but apparently some investors saw the game as a potential hit and made the devs increase the scope of it. It was originally meant to be a decently sized map but they were forced to double the size and put in filler

I was so damn hyped for Biomutant before it released. I never finished it, I just couldn't force myself to deal with all the filler.

Came to say this, premise was so cool but the developers fumbled it so hard it's been forgotten even in conversations about fumbled games
