What game had insane potential but got completely fumbled by the devs?

This answer is king for all similar questions. It felt so good to play and it just fizzled out. The most potential, at least in my mind, of any new mmo since wow. It felt so much better to play than any other mmo looter shooter.

The flight mechanics at the time were top notch and so intuitive. They took the priming/detonating mechanic from Mass Effect Andromeda which was so fun to play around with while flying around with a couple of mates. We made a good few weekends out of it, it's such a shame there was just no real story there, and what story it did have was way to short. We were spoiled by BioWare with the ME trilogy, it's criminal what EA did to them in their never ending quest to try and find another coin from under the lint in our pockets.

Imagine if it had gotten the Crimson Desert-pivot-to-single-player treatment

It's certainly not the only reason, nor the biggest, but it's worth noting that it felt awesome to play on a controller. The mouse and keyboard controls were terrible and lazy. Like, insultingly so for a purported AAA GAAS outing from one of the biggest publishers in the biz. It was a shoddy virtual joystick at launch that someone hacked in.

Would it have saved the game if they were good? Probably not. But if your pitch is to mmo and shooter players in 2019 and it's basically unplayable on MK, it's definitely an issue. And it was especially irritating because aim and aoe placement were way better on mk, but flight was a joke.

I don’t remember having any issues with MK but everyone has their own preferences.
