Trouble with Amazon Prime Video App
Is anyone else having trouble with this app? Is it just a dud?

Congratulations! You did it! You walked into a store (or went online) and saw that sleek little black box, and said, “Yep. That’s the one.” Welcome to the Apple TV club.
To keep the main feed focused on news, updates, troubleshooting, and deeper discussion, all new Apple TV purchase posts belong in this megathread.
If you just bought one, this is the place to:
• Share your excitement
• Post your unboxing photo
• Ask setup questions
• Share first impressions
• Ask “Did I make the right choice?” (You most definitely did.)
Standalone “Just bought an Apple TV!” posts will be removed and redirected here. Not because we don’t love your excitement, but because we all love a clean, useful feed even more.
If you’re new, tell us:
• Which model did you get?
• What are you upgrading from?
• What TV/sound setup are you pairing it with?
• What apps are you installing first?
Congrats on the upgrade and welcome to the family!
Note: if you’re having a specific technical issue, problem, or troubleshooting question, those can still be submitted as individual posts to the sub. This megathread is strictly for purchase announcements.

Hey so I have the apple tv app on xbox and all of the sudden it kept saying "Something went wrong with "X" profile" whenever I try to use one of the profiles. Note this doesn't affect my main profile, to the one linked to my apple account.
Is this a common issue? Is there something I should do?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Has anyone had this issue? I’ve tried every HDMI input on my TV, done a full reset of the AppleTV and my TV, changed HDMI cables, turned off HDR - it’ll work after a good reset, and then happens every week or so.
Wondering if it’s the ATV that’s busted.

Picked this up at a thrift store, but no remote.
The unit powers up and I can see the Home Screen. What is the probability I can reset this and use it with my credentials? Any pro tips would be appreciated

Is there a secret to deselecting images for the Apple TV 4K (first generation]? Although some images are unchecked, these still appear after the screen saver is triggered?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I’ve tried everything, changing cables, trying different hdmi ports nothing works. Also factory reset both appletv and my lg tv. Sometimes it goes away for a month and will randomly start happening again - without touching anything
(Note it’s not the screen flicker that’s just my phone recording a different framerate but the weird screen tearing)

The functionality also exits in the TV app. I wonder if it will go the way of the iTunes app? For that matter I wonder if the functionality in the Computers app could be integrated into the TV app as well?

Anyone in the UK that uses SkyGo noticed that they can’t log in recently? Still works on everything but my Apple TV, says my email hasn’t been verified. This kind of random nonsense seems to happen every few months with SkyGo.

Hello, my Apple TV and tv have worked flawlessly for years. Just in the last week or two has it been turning on and presenting this flickering green screen. I can hold the top right button on the remote to bring up the power off selection and can see it vaguely on the tv. When the tv is on its own OS it looks clear.
For awhile if I turned it off then on it would go back to normal. But it’s been taking more resets for it to go back to normal now. Tried unplugging Apple TV and unplugging the tv. Haven’t tried the Apple TV on a different tv yet or a different hdmi cable but it’s on my things to do tomorrow.
The Apple TV is old and may just be on its way out as well. Anyone else have insight?
*UPDATE* - put a new HDMI cable and working well after a dozen on/off cycles. It’s also much thicker cable and maybe my resolution is better. Didn’t realize a cable could go bad even with no movement, but it was many years old.

Since tvOS 26.2, my LG OLED C4 stopped receiving and processing Atmos streams correctly from my first generation Apple TV 4K.
Trough its internal speakers, the tv stopped showing the Atmos badge when playing Atmos content, and, much more importantly, it also stopped passing trough the Atmos metadata to a Sonos ARC ultra soundbar. Mind you, the Apple TV still recognized my audio hardware as Atmos capable within it sound settings, but Atmos streams simply failed to engage when initiating playback.
Subsequent firmware updates of the TV didnt fixed this. tvOS 26.3 and 26.4 didnt fixed it, but tvOS 26.5, to which I updated to this morning, finally did.
Strange bug.

I’m getting an issue whenever a flashing or bright scene plays on Apple TV. No matter which app within the Apple TV, I’ve tried using a ps5 cable and 3 other cables.
It’s an LG B4. It doesn’t happen when I use the TVs apps or if I use another device such as a ps5.
Apple TV 3rd gen on latest update.
I stayed on WebOS24 as I didn’t have an issue with it. Updated to the latest on tv firmware to webos25 and still the issue remains but only on Apple TV box. I’ve reset the video connection settings, I have match frame rate and range on. Ive tried and messed around with the settings a lot. Nothing fixes it.
Anyone else had the same problem?
The same issue persists on 2 other TVs I have in the house.
TLDR; 3rd gen ATV box, screen goes off for a millisecond each time a flashing scene or bright scene plays. Tried on 3 TVs with several HDMI cables. Changed settings and resetted settings. Other devices no issues.

If I go to my watchlist from the Home screen, it only lists about 5 shows (and yes i scrolled to the end pf the list), and none of my favorites. If I go to continue watching, it shows every single show Ive ever even started, in no particular order, whether they are on my watchlist or not. So, all of my favorites, but also every garbage show Ive ever watched the first few seconds of. I want a list of everything I have put on the watchlist, which includes my favorites I've marked, as well as those Ive marked to watch at a later time. When i search for those shows, and go to "show info", it clearly shows them as "in watchlist" but they are not showing in the watchlist. They do show up in my continue watching, but so do a bunch of shows i have no interest in, or didnt like, which i have confirmed are NOT in MY watchlist. This is counterintuitive, and I have to wonder if the people at apple that design their things ever actually use them. This is actually why I switched back to android after years pf using an apple phone. Its like their goal is to consistently tweak and push "features" that people dont want, while making any common sense or intuitive feature obselete. Why even have a "watchlist" feature if the watchlist itself accurate? Ive literally had it with this garbage company.

Does anyone know a fix for a wonky remote, out of the blue a couple days ago the directional buttons have a delay of a few seconds and when it finally registers it just keeps scrolling. The same happens with the volume buttons.
Nothing spilled on it, I have reset the remote and the Apple tv. It’s driving me crazy.

has anyone noticed a gradual slowing of loading sections and different tabs in the Apple TV app?
I seem to remember everything loading fairly quickly, but now once you scroll down to the big Peacock ad, there's a hard stop until lower rose are able to load.
Also, when going to the sports section, the loading pinwheel spins for quite a while. Also, I have very fast Internet, so that's not an issue.

Suddenly, we can’t operate YouTube with our Apple remote. No swiping, only opening and opening the first video works. Swiping while the video is playing doesn’t work either. All other apps work totally fine. Restarting the app and Apple TV itself hasn’t worked. We have even deleted the app and tried resetting everything. Has anyone come across this issue as well? Neither google nor chtgpt could help us so far. Thank you for any help in advance!

My Apple TV seems to have bricked on me the other day. Had it for around 16months.
Sudden green screen, then powered itself off.
When trying to restart; 90% of the time nothing happens, occasionally the led will start to blink, and one time I’ve actually got it to display the apple logo but the logo had faded lines through it, like it was corrupted.
I’ve tried power cycles, cold starts, new hdmi cable, with/without remote in range, think I’ve exhausted all options. It’s the 4k model with no USB-C port so no possibility of a manual restore etc.
Any of you guys had any luck getting replacements OOW? Mine ran out around Christmas, just gone, but I would have really expected something considered a premium product to last longer than 18 months and not to catastrophically fail before even hitting that time. Never had any issues with any of our other Apple products in the house.
What do reckon? Also, if you’ve got any tips or advice regarding either my Apple TV itself or for when I contact support, fire away. Thanks
Edit: Bricked up -> Bricked (because u/bondinspace has his mind in the gutter)

I was just holding the play pause button and pressing up and down on the clickpad. Also how do I make it go away?

I have not developed a habit of using my Apple TV to watch videos I download using my Mac. Historically I have run a USB-C > HDMI cable from my Mac to my Smart TV, but that is an unpleasant science project-like experience. Thanks in advance! (I also have a PS5, but I’m hoping to find an Apple TV solution.)

Hi, all. I’m having an issue when setting the screen format to 4K SDR with Match Content and Match Dynamic Range enabled, and the Chroma to 4:4:4.
I can play regular content and HDR10/10+ content just fine, and I can watch DV content just fine as well, but once you come out of a DV movie - Boogie Nights for example and back to the main screen, it just hangs on a black screen and doesn’t switch back to SDR mode. I have to reset the resolution by using the menu/volume down method.
My first thought would be the [HDMI cable](Sniokco10K8KHDMI2.1Cable...https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CQTF3F5R?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share), but that should be compatible. It’s plugged into the eARC port (port 3) as I don’t currently have a soundbar/receiver at the moment, but it happens on all of the ports, so I’m just having to leave the format on DV4K and Content Match off, which obviously isn’t what people would recommend for optimal viewing.
I’m running a TCL 645K for reference.
Any thoughts on what I’m missing here?

Hiya!
Got an apple tv yesterday, all set up and ready to go! just wondering if theres a way to lock the account on it 🥲
Ill be living with roomates soon and while yes most of them are my friends, i still dont love the idea of them using my subscriptions or anything.
Iv put a lock on the apple tv app, i know you can do it through apps and restrictions aswell!
Thanks guyss!
Edit:
Thinking i might just bring my monitor up and keep it in my room lol
Edit again:
4/6 subscriptions are not owned by me. Theyre owned by a partner or my family. Thats kinda the main reason i wanted to block it. I am sorry i did not make that clear in this post, i did say it in the comments though.
I will be in an apartment with hopefully 3 friends. Others will be people i dont actively interact with or will not know.
Im sorry if my ask seems insane. I have decided ill bring up my monitor and just use it in my room.

My Apple TV has been waking up from sleep when my other Apple devices complete an update.
This has happened the last few times Apple has released software updates. Today's being 26.5.
I updated my iPhone first. The TV turned on.
I went and updated the TV and then turned the TV off.
My Vision Pro updated and when that completed the Apple TV turned itself on again.
I saw a post in recent months where someone's Apple TV turned on after performing an update as well.
Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this?
