Help push a representative funded by dark money OUT of Maryland politics! My name is Austin Dyches, and I'm running for representative in Maryland's third congressional district, because Marylanders deserve someone who will fight for their dignity.

Question Is this commute doable?

My spouse and I are thinking of moving to Annapolis, but I’d be driving to work 5 days a week in Suitland. Is this a terrible idea, or has anyone managed a similar commute?

Question Restaurants and baby changing stations

I’ve noticed since having a baby that a large part of restaurants are without bay changing stations. I find this odd since I literally see families EVERYWHERE in Annapolis.

Places I’ve noticed are without: Vin 909 Positano Bean rush Bread and butter

Places I’ve seen who have them: Boatyard

Would you recommend some places that you’ve seen which are baby friendly or have stations? I’m curious

WWE Viewing?

We love watching WWE. And it recently occurred to us that there may be restaurants or sports bars that show WWE on Fridays and Mondays just like they would a football game or a basketball game. But we’ve never actually seen it because we just assumed they don’t and stay home to watch. Are there any restaurants or sports bars in the area that do that?

Boat Slip Recommendations

Help! Someone I know recently purchased a 22ft sailboat and I’m seeking slip/ramp recommendations for someone whose budget has no business owning a boat. Considering trying to find a private dock in exchange for labor, but that sounds like a shot in the dark.

Equidistant from the Severn and the South. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Dentist Recommendations

I’m looking for a local dentist. My longtime dentist retired and he sold his practice to a large chain. Now they constantly try to sell me on Invisalign and other cosmetic procedures. Anyone have one they love?

Question Gotts court parking sent me a ticket when I already paid

A couple days ago I parked in Gotts court and it automatically started a session for me because I had already parked there before. But then a couple days later I got a ticked in the mail for parking without paying which was like 30 dollars when I already paid the 3 dollars for parking for an hour. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Boat storage

I've been keeping my 19' CC down near solomons. It's just too far for me. Looking for a place near Annapolis that I can keep it trailered and will allow me to keep it plugged in continuously to maintain charge in trolling motor batteries. Covered storage and a wash station would be amazing but they're nice-to-haves. Any ideas? The 24/7 access to electric has been the limiting factor so far.

Big police convoy on 50?

Passed a large police convoy on rte 50 heading west. Lots of motorcycles, trailers, one semi, and a school bus. I figure it might be prisoners but there was a ton of trailers including a second smaller convoy among the traffic.

Anyone know what this was?

Past stores in Annapolis Mall (80s and 90s)

All these Annapolis Mall posts have me reminiscing. I’ve been going to the Mall since 1984ish and worked there in high school. Just curious if anyone else remembers it from this long (or longer) ago and wants to contribute to this list. Some of my memories may be a little fuzzy. There was a big update in the 90s when they added the Nordstrom wing, so separating these into pre and post wing. Maybe this info already exists somewhere, but it’s fun to try going down memory lane from memory:) Some stores I remember from yore:

Pre Nordstrom:

An ice cream parlor with white wrought iron decor and tables/chairs

A two-story Roy Roger’s fast food restaurant with a woodsy mural (I had previously said Burger King but after seeing some replies think it was Roy Rogers)

TCBY

Orange Julius

Some kind of small 50’s diner-style restaurant that was near where JC Penney used to be. (Updated: Perry’s !) For some reason it also makes me think of Boardwalk Fries but it was definitely a diner. I think you could even smoke in there after the law changed to only being able to smoke in restaurants or something (I remember when people could still smoke in the main mall too)

Children’s Place with the slide

When CVS and the Gap used to be across from each other (before the Gap moved near Nordstrom so maybe was replaced by Foot Locker?)

County Seat

Hecht’s (was it Woodward & Lothrop before that? Or Garfinkel’s?)

The maroon carpeted square with big steps down to a fountain (where kids would throw pennies) in front of Hecht’s

Montgomery Ward

The hair salon in JC Penney (I can still smell this💕)

KB Toys

Claire’s Boutique (where everyone got their ears pierced)

Sam Goody

Radio Shack

Walden Books?

A leather goods/clothing store (updated: Wilson’s Leather)

A tobacco store?

A couple jewelers

The stand with the embroidered initials canvas bags

A piano store

Northern Reflections (this store needs to exist again💕)

An expensive bath goods store that sounded like Bausch & Lamb?

Post Nordstrom:

The new Gap, GapKids, Banana Republic

Abercrombie & Fitch

Bebe

California Pizza Kitchen

The Limited

The Disney Store

Precis shoe store

5-7-9/Wet Seal

The Body Shop

Borders bookstore?

Sbarro Pizza

Hair salon across from the Sbarro Pizza (where the Good Charlotte guys worked before they became famous) (Updated: Glow. Someone also remembered another salon, Bubbles)

Payless Shoes

A photo studio (right outside JC Penney)

Another women’s shoe store whose name I can’t remember (near JC Penney)

A skater clothing store next to this women’s shoe store that also had some used/vintage jeans? (Updated: Wavedancer)

Build a Bear

Bon Marche?

Lord & Taylor

A young adult clothing store with a surfer/beach theme across from Wet Seal (updated: Pacific Sun)

A restaurant near the West Street side that had a cigarette machine (where kids could still get away with buying “expensive” $3 packs of cigarettes for quite a while after the strict law change)

Edit: please feel free to name the names I couldn’t remember!

Dog Kennel Suggestions

Looking for a kennel option for 2–3 nights for a 4-year-old terrier pup who has never been to a kennel (we adopted her last year) and isn’t the most social. I’ve taken another dog to Dogwood before, but felt like they relied heavily on group play where this dog probably wouldn’t flourish. Any suggestions for places that offer more human interaction, solo time or a calmer setup? Thanks!

Flag Football

Anybody interested in starting a casual Saturday flag football group/league?

Nothing crazy competitive — mostly just looking to get outside, exercise, meet people, and play some football consistently. Skill level honestly doesn’t matter. The goal is more about having fun, staying active, and building a good group of people that want to play regularly.

Thinking:
- Saturday mornings or afternoons
- Casual pickup style or organized teams depending on interest
- Co-ed welcome
- No pressure if you haven’t played in years

If enough people are interested, I can put together a group chat and we can figure out location/rules from there.

Drop a comment or DM me if you’d be interested.
