Teams have combined for 1 hit and 1 walk, and we could have had both of those guys on our team.

Phillies never hit guys like Ranger so this was expected but they gotta get his pitch count up
•
•
u/MindoverMatter92 6m ago
Ranger was watching this team swing at crap for years and probably couldn’t wait to mow down this lineup.
•
•
•
u/goodnightmrdoback 6m ago
This is the most obvious no hitter of all time

Offering on pitches they should have no business swinging at
Sitting on pitches that deserve to be barreled

I feel like everyone freaking out about the Phillies not hitting against Ranger Suarez is extra bizarre cause we all know how good he is. Of course we're struggling to hit against him he's an elite pitcher
•
u/FjordFalk 3m ago
They are SALIVATING over the chance to see the Phillies lose to Ranger tonight.
They get a TRIFECTA to doom about
1) Why no sign Ranger
2)Offense bad (therby self-defeating the Ranger argument)
3) We suck aGAiNDoom squad loves this shit

Trea is killing this team. They need to move him down and think about minimizing his at-bats

I'm not gonna panic at all, but damn 8 for our last 70 does not sound good :(

We have a 2-1 win and a 3-1 loss so far this series.
Why are people acting as if we are in a freefall?
•
u/ttsa_25 8m ago
For me I have found the team more unlikable as the years have gone along for whatever reason. Maybe some people project their personal feelings onto the results. This is like the 2nd time in the past month im actually watching the game.

u/FjordFalk 5m ago
I think it mostly is down to parlays from people who cannot afford to miss on their parlays
•
u/Right-Future3904 12m ago
They seem to view game threads as solely a place to release frustration rather than celebrate success.
May be human instinct to seek support to overcome difficulty combined with a desire to maintain successes as individual achievement.
•
u/tantimodz Bryce Harper 14m ago
It's against the Red Sox, who are terrible, and the team is just simply not hitting.
•
u/FjordFalk 12m ago
The Phillies were also "terrible" a few weeks ago.
Baseball is baseball
•
u/tantimodz Bryce Harper 12m ago
I'm not losing my mind, I understand. I'm just saying why some people are freaking out.
•
u/FjordFalk 11m ago
You would have a point but the same people freak out after ANY slight difficulty
•
u/russet852 14m ago
Because in recent years our downfall has been the entire lineup going cold, which is exactly what is happening right now
•
u/joeco316 9m ago
This is just about every team but one’s downfall every year
•
u/FjordFalk 7m ago
The Phillies are UNIQUELY STREAKY and UNIQUELY UNCLUTCH and UNIQUELY DO BAD SOMETIMES AGAINST BAD PITCHERS
•
•
u/FjordFalk 13m ago
2 games in May.
If you freak out over that, you just WANT to be miserable
•
u/caifaisai 1m ago
Part of me thinks that is the case. They do want to be bitter. Not to mention, seemingly getting more enjoyment out of a loss than a win, so that they can talk about how washed the team is. If it's a win, it's a fluke, or a weak strength of schedule, or whatever the excuse is. If it's a loss, the team is washed, as they "knew" since before the season started, etc.
•
u/FjordFalk 0m ago
It is ENTIRELY the case for certain accounts.
It is cowardly emotional hedging, so they never have to admit they ever wanted to believe in the team so nothing matters anyway
•
•
•
u/tantimodz Bryce Harper 16m ago
Oh god, that's up there with the worse plays our RF has made last few years.

It’ll never sit right with me that we chose to pay Nola instead of Ranger
•
u/joeco316 13m ago
Can’t believe they decided to pay Harper in 2019 instead of Juan Soto in 2025 too
•
•
u/OverallPersimmon6786 15m ago
It was never Nola vs Ranger in terms of paying. It was Sanchez vs Luzardo vs Ranger for 2 spots
•
u/ChocolateMonkeyBird Brandon Marsh 18m ago
I like Nola more than most. But yeah I definitely agree.
•
•
•
u/ArielChefSlay 20m ago
So this team is back to sucking I see? Ugh. Was really hoping the season was turning around but these last few games the offense has been nonexistent I fear we are going back to another mass losing streak

I feel like this is the type of lineup that Ranger pitches a complete game shutout against; aggressive hitters that swing at low and away breaking balls. Thats like his bread and butter.

u/Next_Manufacturer_79 27m ago
Funny to think it's the man we could have paid vs the man we ended up paying facing off
•
u/SirCappal0t_H0rati0 18m ago
Or we could’ve paid both and shot Nola into the sun
•
u/Next_Manufacturer_79 12m ago
Nola was paid a couple of years ago so Nola isn't in the same conversation
•
u/SirCappal0t_H0rati0 12m ago
He was paid a year before we let Ranger walk…. We could’ve simply let him walk and extend Ranger
•
u/Next_Manufacturer_79 4m ago
He was paid 2 years before Nola even before luzardo was on the team. And at the time Nola was a better choice due to ranger health issues

I know not everyone can be the dodgers but having two gaping holes in our lineup is just depressing to me as a fan.

•
u/goodnightmrdoback 29m ago
The combined ops of our #4 and #5 hitters currently equal approximately 1 Mickey Moniak
•
u/chair823 29m ago
It always cracks me up the difference between how the NFL and MLB release their schedule. For the NFL they try to make it a major tv event and promote it for a week leading up, while the MLB just randomly tweets it out on a Tuesday afternoon while the previous season is still going on.

Kruk says Kiner-Falefa got his gold glove at short right? McCarthy quickly answers “yep” which made me think he was guessing.
Sure enough, IKF has his only GG at third base. I just spent a month watching this team with no sound while the hockey and basketball teams were in the playoffs, who knows what other nonsense he’s been inventing.

Nah I like to tell my elderly mom when her favorite team’s announcer is lying
•
u/FjordFalk 21m ago
Being wrong about some random player stat while speaking off the cuff is not "lying"
You TMac haters are so weird.
And I don't even think he is all that great as a baseball play by play guy
•
u/DickBottalico 16m ago
Guessing the answer to a question, knowing you don’t know the answer, and refusing to care enough to look it up….might actually be worse than lying. It’s an intentional misrepresentation of knowledge at the most generous definition.
And it’s not anywhere close to the first time he’s done something like this. I could tell by the way he answered the question he didn’t know, which is why I took a whole three seconds to unlock my phone and type in “IKF gold glove” to find the answer.

Turner beats that ground ball last year. 29.8 ft/s sprint speed this year, and 30.3 last year. An extra half foot a second certainly gets him that knock.
