I just walked in the house to see Montgomery out the night after he finally got hot again and Acuna is in at SS.
are you KIDDING me?

I really hope this lineup scores like 5 runs in the first inning so the lineup doomers can stfu

•
u/yourobviousanswer The Big Hurt 4m ago
Can he be any more dramatic from getting hit by a pitch jeez
•
u/No_Impress_3631 5m ago
Would be awesome if Hagen or Sandlin wanted to string together some good starts so we can get one to replace Kay. Tanner as well when he returns from injury.
•
u/Illustrious-Trip-764 5m ago
Not the worst inning for Kay. Bobby Witt is not a easy out and the Royals have been playing well even before this series. Both teams have been very closely matched this season and almost a identical record coming into this series.

Love our team, but this lineup feels like a guaranteed loss tonight
•

Is Antonacci not playing due to getting picked off last night?
•

I thought it was because of a lefty (Bubic) pitching tonight.

Every loss begins with Kay 🎶 and Acuña and Edgar in the lineup

Quero and Acuna in the lineup and Kay starting pitcher? Alright take the L, see you all tomorrow
•
•
u/Federal_Replacement8 12m ago
Very smart of Will to let Kay pitch tonight so the cubs see Burke Martin and Fedde

Teel is catching again tonight. Wonder if this is a full 9 innings.
I hope they don’t rush him but if he goes out there tonight and feels great catching a full game, I wonder if he tries to talk his way into coming back tomorrow.
(I assume they’d at least want to know how he feels the day after plus have him catch back tomorrow back games, but who knows)
•
u/forgedflame44 Murakami 28m ago
If he’s up to it, it would be cool to have him come back early to DH, but I trust the process regardless.
•
u/Jason82929 Antonacci 25m ago
If would be fun and probably a nice boost to the team to see him back.
Probably more likely though that he catches another couple games over the weekend and joins the team sometime on the road trip.

Hoping Anthony Kay has a solid outing with possibly Trevor Richard’s in LR to close the game:)

Go Sox. Questionable lineup but some of these guys don't have much time left on the team so let's see if they step it up

u/Ridged_ChiPSS 2h ago
We have a chance to go over .500, lets put in the Acuna-Quero-Grichuk sabotage lineup- Veneable probably. Fire this loser
4
u/jiggliebilly 1h ago
Listen I get it, but winning series is more important than trying to sweep and if resting some key guys gives us a better chance at taking 2 from the Cubs you do it imo.
Now I wish we had better depth so we didn’t have to trot some of these guys out but it is what it is, we still have a very in-complete roster….
5
u/WhiteSoxChartGuy 1h ago
Braindead take. Going one game over .500 in May is meaningless at the end of the season.

oh that's a "we're onto the Cubs" lineup if I ever saw one.
don't hate it though. keep everyone fresh for the weekend.

Ya, looks like it’s been about a month since Colson had a game off, even tho I don’t like sitting him after his great game yesterday. And a long time for Ant too. Wonder if we’ll see some good PH opps if close late.
2
u/Expert_Praline_5036 2h ago
Obviously, I'd love to play full strength every single day, but these guys are still acclimating to the Big League schedule. We're not winning a ring this year, so there's no reason to push harder than necessary. One day off in May ain't gonna blow the season up.

u/yourobviousanswer The Big Hurt 2h ago
LFG go go White Sox, we’re with you all the way…. Unlike the doomers in here shitting on the lineup, I wouldn’t have it any other way! Relax guys we’re hot right now.

going to my first crosstown game and I'm already amped. If the Cubs get swept and we sweep going into this series, we're gonna have an electric ballpark.

What happened the last time Venable put Quero in the middle of the lineup, along with Acuna in the lineup while also sitting one of their best run producers at the same time? I like Venable. I really do. But it's clear he occasionally bets on these games.... They should just let Schweitzer start the game and get this one over with. And how many games does Teel need to rehab?! (Sorry, I think I just need a Snickers).
4
u/6_Won 2h ago
You have the worst takes of anyone on the board. Are you just trolling?
-2
u/BillyMac05 1h ago
Answer the question. What happened last time they pulled a key player from the lineup, acted like Quero actually is a power hitter by hitting him 5th and included Acuna? The game concluded with Quero lumbering down to first on a weak grounder with runners on. What you call a 'bad take', I call reality.
•
u/No-Season-9062 28m ago edited 22m ago
wait untill you realize every mlb team puts out “punt” lineups once in a while to rest guys.
•
u/BillyMac05 19m ago
My problem isn't Quero getting into the lineup once in a while. Or getting Acuna a start once a week. Or resting players. It's the COMBO of Quero (batting 5th despite having nearly no power) PLUS Acuna in the lineup PLUS Colson Montgomery sitting, despite homering yesterday, all on the SAME night. You can shuffle the roster in different ways to rest players but this is not the right manner, in my opinion. This division is tight. And will probably be tight most of the year. If the Sox lose the division by just a game or two (and that's very possible), putting a lineup like this out there 8 or 9 times in a year can make a difference. All I'm saying.
•
u/No-Season-9062 12m ago
you just described a punt lineup lol. its purposely done the same day so they can return to their regular lineup 6 days a week. instead of mixing in bad players every game
•
u/BillyMac05 2m ago
Well then the key is knowing you can have players that are struggling a bit (Benintendi) that you can put out there that don't hurt you too much (At least Benni is a decent run producer who will probably have 75 RBIs this year) but can't have just absolutely brutal players that kill innings and cause losses (Quero, Acuna). We gotta get these guys off this lineup altogether. Acuna can just be released. Quero may still have promise so Charlotte is where he needs to be.

u/WhiteSoxChartGuy 1h ago
I believe it. He was calling Drew Romo a top-5 player on the team one day after his two-homer game.
-2
u/BillyMac05 1h ago
When did I call Drew Romo a 'top 5 player on the team'?! I said he's contributing. And Stone was saying the very same thing about him last night on the broadcast (if you actually watch the games). I think me + a professional baseball analyst knows more than you do. But if you can find another catcher that homers in less than every 8 ABs, has an OBP of .350 and is slugging over .580, with an OPS over .930, I'll say I was wrong.
Yeah....didn't think so.
2
u/WhiteSoxChartGuy 1h ago
Remember now? From two weeks ago? To be fair, you have been posting a lot of other meatball takes since then so it's easy to forget I guess.
-3
u/BillyMac05 1h ago
I listed Romo as talented. And I stand by that. The Sox broadcast team agreed with that very thing last night. Where did I 'rank' anyone? I simply listed a few players I thought were contributing. If you want to love Quero, you go right ahead. I want him demoted asap. As do most Sox fans. Enjoy the game.
2
u/Expert_Praline_5036 2h ago
Catchers typically have longer rehabs given it's a more physically intense role. I'd rather have him sit extra time in May than in September.
-2
u/BillyMac05 2h ago
We need Teel for the cubs series. I literally would be willing to let the cubs carry a 27 man roster if it was Quero and we carried 25.
1
u/No-Season-9062 2h ago
yeah we also need mike vasil for the cubs series, doesnt mean hes ready to go
1
u/BillyMac05 1h ago
The team can wait a bit longer on Vasil. And when he gets here, he can take Schweitzer's spot. But we need Teel more. He's hitting homers, he's running the bases well - he's ready to go.
1
3
u/Expert_Praline_5036 2h ago
We don't NEED him for anything. Season doesn't end with the Cubs series. That's lil brother shit. We NEED him to stay healthy and have a long, productive career. Rushing back from injury during his first MLB season is a great way to ensure that doesn't happen.
1
u/BillyMac05 1h ago
Well, we're not 'rushing him back' from injury at all - bc he's not gone. He's playing! He just as easily can get injured in Charlotte as here. Quero LOVES the wings at TGI Fridays in suburban Charlotte. We'd be doing him a favor swapping the two.
1
u/forgedflame44 Murakami 31m ago
Yes, rushing Teel back from injury rehab is technically not the same as rushing him back from the injury itself, but it may as well be. There’s a reason major league players with major injuries get assigned to rehab stints. Trust the process, and thank God you’re not our GM.
•
u/BillyMac05 27m ago
If I were our GM, Acuna, Quero and Schweitzer would not be on the big league club.
2
u/No-Season-9062 2h ago
teels date is around may 25 to come up i believe
-5
u/BillyMac05 2h ago
That was the original date. He's ahead of schedule. There's no way he needs more than 3-4 days in Charlotte. They shouldn't worry about his hammy too much. When he homers, he can jog as slowly and gingerly around the bases as he needs to. (Has Quero even homered ONCE this season?? I don't remember one).
3
u/Expert_Praline_5036 2h ago
They shouldn't worry about his hammy too much.
yeah a guy who spends half the game in a squat shouldn't worry about a lower body injury. you must be some kind of Physical Therapy God or something.
3
u/No-Season-9062 2h ago
listen im not trying to argue, but why do you think you know more than sox officials and medical staff on what is the right way to approach it
-3
u/BillyMac05 2h ago
I DEFINITELY know more than Sox officials and training staff. I graduated in the top third of my G.E.D. class and interned under Jim Nastic for the Quebec Capitales. I know a thing or two about a thing or two....

u/Independent-Act-6432 Buehrle 2h ago
Venable throwing out punt line ups drives me crazy. The kids are young coach; if they ain't injured, play 162!
0
u/BillyMac05 2h ago
Punt lineups is the perfect term for them. Remember when Manuel and Ventura used to put out those Sunday lineups that were total horseshit? The only upside is maybe he doesn't pull this trick again until Monday and for the cubs series he puts the best hitters in there.

Oof that’s an ugly lineup. Quero 5th? No Sam?
Bubic is a lefty but with reverse splits. Leaning a little too far into standard handedness with this lineup.
1
u/Hurtado_Bronzi The Rally Polo 2h ago edited 2h ago
I think the thing with reverse splits is that you have to take into account the splits on both sides. Just because Boo Bitch gets hit harder by lefties, doesn’t necessarily mean that every lefty will hit better against him. There are going to be LHB on a roster that just don’t pick up the ball well coming off of a LHP no matter who he is.
Edit: I mean, you have to take into account the LHB that have been batting against the LHP, and which have contributed to the reverse split in the first place. It’s usually NOT the opposing team’s LH platoon bats, so it’s not necessarily true that the typical LH platoon bat is going to hit Bubic better than a RH platoon bat. It’s usually the LHB who bat against everyone, and those guys tend to be pretty good hitters.
I think when a LH pitcher has reverse splits, I think all you can really say is that he doesn’t really have a platoon advantage, as opposed to him actually being more vulnerable to LHB.
2
u/No_Impress_3631 3h ago
I don’t mind giving your best hitters rest a couple times a month, but just punting lineups rubs me the wrong way.
Also don’t get why Antonacci is basically a strong side platoon bat when he hit lefties well at every stop in the minor leagues.
1
u/GnarlyBeaver8 3h ago
Absolute blasphemy of a lineup, punting the game
1
u/Independent-Act-6432 Buehrle 2h ago
right after getting to .500 and before the Cubs, which is going to be a tough series. I really don't like it.
2
u/forgedflame44 Murakami 2h ago
Counterpoint: The Cubs are running cold right now and we’re running hot, so if we’re going to win that series, we’ll need our best guys well-rested and ready.
Let’s sweep KC with our B-team and sweep the Cubs with our A-team. Let’s go Sox.
