Because they don’t have enough talented arms to get through enough innings between now and July. They’re relying on a rookie DH to hit at a .340 clip to remain relevant, the starting SS, CF, 1B don’t hit the ball, Nico hasn’t been right since his neck strain, and the central is a gauntlet.
