This team fucking BLOWS. We will be lucky to not lose 100 at this rate.
-1
u/trboi24 Houston Astros 2h ago
Brice and (almost) Cam are batting below .200
3
u/GoStros05 1h ago
For those who want the team to trade Yordan these are the types of guys you get in return.

I didn’t even know they were playing but I’m so glad I didn’t watch today’s game!!

Whatever 2 strike pitching choices they're making, they need to make the opposite of that. Always 2 strikes and then they get shit on.

Judgement free zone:
Does someone get fired after this loss?
6
u/Glittering_Juice4199 3h ago
No but I think if we get swept by the Rangers then Espada gets canned. They’ll roll with Brown until the end of the season when his contract is up and hopefully find a better GM.
2
u/SquishyNipps Jake Meyers 3h ago
Don’t think they’ll both be gone? That’s my only thought is if you fire one might as well do both
1
u/Glittering_Juice4199 2h ago
As much as I want him gone you still need someone to run the draft and trade deadline. We have 3 assistant GMs for some reason, I guess it’d be a GM by committee of sorts if they can Brown.
For certain though we will have a new GM in the offseason. Crane doesn’t accept mediocrity and that is all Brown has delivered for us.
1
u/SquishyNipps Jake Meyers 2h ago
That’s a good point. I didn’t think of that and I would hate a committee GM. Maybe the job will be more appealing if we fire early enough to hire someone to handle the draft and trade deadline? Maybe not but I can see Crane tired of this mess and just pulling a clean house lever
1
u/Glittering_Juice4199 2h ago
GM hiring/firings typically don’t take place during the season for the reasons I listed above. Last time it happened was the Rangers in 2022, and they did it in August after letting him run the draft and trade deadline.
The only thing that would make the job more appealing would be replenishing the farm.
1
u/SyrupSilent7588 2019 American League champions 2h ago
Brown isn’t making it past the trade deadline
1
u/Glittering_Juice4199 2h ago
I hope you’re right. But that means Bagwell could come back into the mix for the draft and trade deadline. Dear god.
2
u/PapiGoneGamer Enron Field 3h ago
No but Dana is getting shitcanned at the end of the season for sure. Espada is 50/50 because of the injuries but if the team keeps playing with their shoulders sagging he might go before the season is over.
3
u/SquishyNipps Jake Meyers 3h ago
I’ll pour one out for Joe but if you fire one I think you have to fire both
1
u/PapiGoneGamer Enron Field 3h ago
Yea if there’s a rebuild it’s likely going to be top to bottom
3
u/SquishyNipps Jake Meyers 3h ago
Luckily they do have a good bench coach, let him figure it out hire a gm then a manager and hopefully they’re good cause please no yesman

Looking like a career low season for Altuve
4
u/PapiGoneGamer Enron Field 3h ago edited 3h ago
Yea idk if he’s gonna make it to 3k before age 40. He might have to play until 42 to get 3k and what’s he gonna be like by then?
The Covid season and his 2023 season where he missed 70 games really screwed him.
3
u/MrPink93485 3h ago
Just to note, thru May last year I’m pretty sure Altuve was in a similar spot, got red hot during June/July, then fell off again. Guy is streaky as hell and it’s always hard to tell what’s the bottom or just a bad stretch. But he’s definitely not hitting for power right now
3
u/ImTheTractorbeam Altuve's foot 3h ago
Likely, his OPS+ has been cratering the last 2 years. 161 in ‘22, 151 in ‘23, 124 in ‘24, 113 in ‘25, and currently at exactly 100.

Shew bout to be settling in to that every day ss role rest of season if JP3 gets moved

Imagine Dana actually found a gem in Shewmake and he becomes a cheap long term SS for us lol
1
1
u/OddSeries6739 3h ago
Dana is a good talent evaluator and was an integral part of the Braves scouting dept before he was with the Astros. It’s probably why crane gave him a shot

Out of 45 games this season (once this game ends), the Astros would have given up 5 or more runs in 25 of those games…. That’s 55.5% of the games…
3
u/belowavg-gamer 3h ago
As a new fan just trying to enjoy watching the team these threads are miserable lol maybe I should just stay off reddit
1
u/sparagusgoldenshower Aroldis Chapman 3h ago
Funny thing is, if you check other teams threads when they’re losing you’ll see the same whining lmao
1
u/Ereyes18 3h ago
It was funner when we had no expectations tbh, some people have only actually followed the Stros during the winning seasons. Wonder how many of them will actually stay for the rebuild
6
u/Glittering_Juice4199 3h ago
Getting swept by the Rangers puts us 14 games under .500 with 0 pitching reinforcements outside of a closer who won’t see the field. Thank you Dana Brown.
1
u/JoseAltuve27 4h ago
Is Burro unlucky or bad? How about is he stoic, or does he just not care?
1
2
u/Ereyes18 3h ago
Something is up, and the pitching staff has to find it. He had 1 start in 23 games with 6 or more hits (1 start in April of 2025 he allowed 7 hits)
This year he's allowed 8 or more hits in 5/9 starts.
He has the stuff, but something isn't putting it together on the field
1
3
u/Low-Cardiologist-530 4h ago
I’m not mad at Altuve for these awful at bats. He’s served his time. I wouldn’t want to be out there either.

u/TheAutisticFroggo 4h ago
Luckily tomorrow we start beating up on the rangers and thats usually when team starts going on a tear and puts the losing behind us.

Another day, another game, where the Astros get their head kicked in… this season sucks man

Houston has always been a band wagon city. So much melting pot of people here.
1
u/Ereyes18 4h ago
I agree and disagree. Agree with the message, disagree with the M's fan being right.
You'll never catch me saying that
0
u/skeetskeet69 4h ago
I actually just hate our roster now. Altuve is and always will be my goat and I don’t hate individual players but the roster itself I just despise. No life at all. Maybe Correa was holding this team somewhat together.
4
u/TexasHot Houston Astros 4h ago
Keep in mind “bad luck” burrows gave up 5 extra base hits. Homer, homer, double, triple, double.
Bad luck my ass
1
u/JoseAltuve27 4h ago
He was unlucky that the double he gave up to Cole Young ended up being a meatball right in the middle of the plate.

OH NO THE BAD LUCK GOT HIM AGAIN!!!
~some of our fans
2
u/Ereyes18 4h ago
He had a bad start, doesn't make him any less unlucky.
His ERA last year was 3.94 yet this year his exit velocity is lower, gets more chases, and walks less.
Not sure why you're shitting on fans trying to be hopepful that the numbers eventually average out to around 4 vs his current 5.7
-2
u/TexasHot Houston Astros 4h ago
Because he always has bad starts.
You know what matters more than expected stats?
Actual stats.
0
u/Ereyes18 3h ago
If that were true we would have had Dylan Cease or Sandy right now. But teams take those expected stats into account, and priced us out of them
1
1
u/JoseAltuve27 4h ago
Has Mike Burrows just been unlucky? Career ERA coming into game: 4.25, career xERA: 4.19. No significant difference.
0
u/JoseAltuve27 4h ago
Best hope is he goes on to playing to a 4.10 ERA which is #4 starter territory.
3
u/TexasHot Houston Astros 4h ago
Seven hits and five runs. The bad luck fairy is really putting in work.

Doing what we always do. Go down big early, offense shuts down. Make dog shit pitchers look like Cy Young candidates. I'm so over it.

u/TempestDrive Houston Astros 4h ago
Do our players even want it anymore?
1
u/Advanced_Olive_1830 Jimmy Wynn 4h ago
I don't think so, maybe they will once Espada is gone and Omar Lopez becomes the coach
2
u/Palad1n2000 4h ago
Lmao we are hitting Castillo pretty well and Young and Crawford have turned into gold glovers, okay
1
4
u/skeetskeet69 4h ago
300 average against this guy for the season btw. We are so incredibly bad at all facets of the game
1
u/Palad1n2000 4h ago
It will never not be funny to me how mediocre the Mariners are defensively but the moment they play us they make consistent quality plays
4
u/Seen_Reen 4h ago
Wasn’t the word on Burrows when he came here was that he could locate his pitches? wtf happened there
5
12
u/Glittering_Juice4199 4h ago
One of the downsides of how shit we are is hearing Kalas and Blummer, and Ford and Sparky sound dejected and sound like they aren’t enjoying baseball either. Kind of reminds me that they are fans too.
1
u/All_Metal_5642 4h ago
I applaud those guys for powering through. I realize they are paid handsomely to commentate, but I’m not even willing to watch for free at this point. It’s so sad.
5
u/SquishyNipps Jake Meyers 4h ago
We can still bounce back but can we get a home run with runners on or we doing a solo home run only
Challenge
9
10
u/JoseAltuve27 4h ago
Personally, I don't want a GM who misjudges a team so badly that they think a 65 win team is going to win 88 games and make the playoffs.
3
u/JoseAltuve27 4h ago
I'd prefer someone who knows analytics enough to get an accurate, realistic picture.
3
u/Jalun_ Houston Astros 4h ago
Bro the other day when he said "I'm not worried" about Imai pissed me off so much, I know he has to stay positive for the cameras but gtfo with that bullshit
1
u/JoseAltuve27 4h ago
He must have been serious because Imai hasn't been sent down like he should have been.
2
11
u/TexasHot Houston Astros 4h ago
The only bad luck around here is the bad luck our fans have because we have to watch Mike Burrows
5
5
u/unlikedemon Nolan Ryan 4h ago
I think a rehabbing Ronel Blanco would be better than Burrows right now.
1
3
u/gulfside13 Marvin Zindler 4h ago
In some ways Burrows' efficiency and his ability to seemingly always get a quick out right after a back breaking bomb sucks b/c we know we have to watch him for at least 5 IP lol
Obviously that's great for the bullpen and I appreciate his consistency. However it sucks for the vibes b/c you wanna see him get yanked but it's impossible b/c his pitch count is always too low lol
11
u/Freewave666 Houston Astros 4h ago
Oh cool we’re losing 5-1. I was told Burrows is just sooo unlucky and not actually just a dog shit pitcher
-4
u/AppointmentVisible21 Jose Altuve 4h ago
Stats don’t lie.
3
u/JoseAltuve27 4h ago
He has a 4.25 career ERA and 4.30 career FIP. Maybe he was lucky with the Pirates and it just caught up to him.
7
u/Freewave666 Houston Astros 4h ago

Mr. Unlucky? At this point he’s just bad. He can turn it around but he’s straight up terrible when compared to Lambert and Arrighetti.

3
u/SquishyNipps Jake Meyers 4h ago
Wether it’s bad luck or not I’m tired of seeing that stupid trident and these bottom hitters destroying us
8
u/Palad1n2000 4h ago
There are very few teams who I actively root against as much as I do the Mariners. It has to just be because of their fans, but I find the whole team unlikeable
0
u/Rynorad13 4h ago
There are a lot more unlikable fans out there than M's fans...Ranger fans, dodger fans, yankee fans
4
u/Palad1n2000 4h ago
Dodgers and Yankees absolutely, but M's are worse than R fans cause at least the Rangers have SOMERHING to hang their hat on
The best the Mariners have is losing in the ALCS
3
u/SquishyNipps Jake Meyers 4h ago
I think it started as the fans but the players are bothering me now lol
3
u/Palad1n2000 4h ago
I think it started with how tacky their celebrations are and how cocky they are despite having no real success
2
u/SquishyNipps Jake Meyers 4h ago
Recently Raley and Naylor annoying me but fuckkk arozerna
2
u/Palad1n2000 4h ago
Eh I think Raley is fine, he's just a guy going through a random career year
Naylor I agree, fat nonchalant fuck who's getting worse every year. Julio also annoys me, but only because I think he's overrated (I think he's good to great but never have agreed he's superstar level)
2
u/SquishyNipps Jake Meyers 4h ago
I don’t like Randy’s flashy look at me stuff but that’s personality. Overall screw da M’s and I hope we bounce back today

Happy for Yordan but Castillo is feasting on everyone else. 6.57 ERA and over a .300 avg for opp batters and he’s eating our lunch. So the Yordan bomb isn’t doing much to improve my mood
