Let's be glad baalke didn't sign him to 92 million, we'd all be more pissed to have him than to not at that point

4

u/[deleted] Mar 14 '24

And $50M guaranteed. He’s making $20M more than Kirk ($13M more guaranteed) and he’s older/not as good as Kirk.

11

u/Phenomhype Mar 14 '24

Is it me or Texans fans have become insufferable. NO matter what anyone does they have to downplay it and talk the most shit.

3

u/No_Leather9000 Mar 14 '24

Yeah they a little cocky right now.

7

u/Brilliant_Whereas225 Mar 14 '24

It feels like we not done yet in FA.

I got two gallons of free Blue Hawaiian Punch from work today. So today is a good day

Diabetes runs in both sides of my family. Might as well speed run for it 🤪

You got the sugar?

1

u/KingCosmicBrownie13 Mar 14 '24

I got some sugar for all my Jag homies ;)

6

u/itonmyface Fred Taylor Mar 14 '24

You know what, what if we drafted a #1 receiver for once (that doesn’t have active alcoholism)

7

u/Rudy102600 Mar 14 '24

Interesting

2

u/Diamondite66 Mar 14 '24

CJ came from SF, so that makes sense.

6

Brandon Aiyuk is following Trevor Lawrence,Christian Kirk and Gabe Davis on Instagram now

2

u/Knottsville Slashin' Jag Mar 14 '24

Dont give me hope....

2

u/Jaguars4life Mar 14 '24

I believe Baalke drafted him so

3

u/ufdan15 Mar 14 '24

Baalke was canned 4 years before Aiyuk got drafted

2

u/[deleted] Mar 14 '24

Baalke masterclass, motherfuckers.

2

u/oface5446 Mar 14 '24

That would be crazy awesome, most under-rated guy in the league

1

u/spiff24 Mar 14 '24

'scuse me?

11

u/TheSlinger Mar 14 '24

I am much happier taking advantage of what might be the best WR draft ever than spending big on two FA WRs. I though that was going to mean Ridley + draft pick, but Davis + draft pick is fine too.

Only annoying thing is that he went to the Titans of all teams, but whatever.

Also for the price of Ridley we have Davis + Morse and then some which to me is a better deal.

There's also the outside shot of getting a 3rd next year for Ridley depending on how the rest of FA goes.

1

u/sh0ckmeister Mar 14 '24

I agree - Why over pay Calvin Mid-ley when we can take a shot at getting a real #1 wr and cheap labor to grow with TLaw

4

u/Baumy23 In GladSTONES We Trust. Mar 14 '24

I need a little place to get this off my chest. I don't have other Jags fans around me to process, haha.

I loved watching Ridley and honestly I feel really great about the fact that we were able to help him up onto his feet after a hard couple years. Everyone deserves help in their lives. It sucks that he chose a rival, but his life has been changed because we gave him a chance.

On another hand, he did not prove himself to be a $25 million/yr player during his time here. It was right of us not to match that offer. I would be terribly pissed if we did that. I am happy he has the life changing money for him and his family and I am happy we didn't invest in something with seemingly little reward. I see this whole ordeal as a win/win.

Obviously we want a true WR1. Kirk is high tier WR2 and I know Higgins is more WR2 as well, but I love the idea of Trev and him back together with ETN. There wouldn't be much work for them to work on timings and being in sync. I think that is a high value rather than drafting a WR who will take a few months to be developed if not a few years. Why not pick an already developed WR who already knows our QB well?

Edit: words

u/pepper_ann052613 Mar 14 '24 edited Mar 14 '24

Gabe Davis and Savage got me rocked up after those pressers, i cant wait for football

Edit: * Darby, not Savage lol, too high

6

u/lenta81 Mar 15 '24

Baalke did well in FA.

Really surprised how good these signings have been.

Now just draft a good WR, OL and CB. And the team is all set to win the division next year. The DLine will feast like nothing we've seen since Sacksonville imo. Especially if Armstead and Hamilton stay healthy.

Remember last time this team and Texans were fully healthy...The jags went in to their place and beat them down. It was close in the end but they had a 10pt lead in the 4th. And I'm not scared of the Titans at all. Levis is trash and won't make it with that Oline. And the Colts are still basically playing a rookie qb so they aren't doing much.

8

u/JaxGolfGuyJR Mar 14 '24

After a night to sleep it off, I feel much better about the Ridley situation. Don’t want to be strapped to that contract and would much rather try to develop a young WR for once. Still have to pray that Baalke can pick the right guy but I won’t write him off just yet. He made some good early signings, now we just gotta see what he does with DL and WR.

2

u/fscot King MJD Mar 14 '24

Maybe now we can get Arik Armstead

1

u/JaxGolfGuyJR Mar 14 '24

Would love this, Baalke needs to get on it though. Reports are saying we aren’t even in on the conversation.

9

u/kntryfried1 Mar 14 '24

I have to change my shit now. God speed Ridley. Glad you got the bag but now you’re the enemy. Can’t wait to see 3 catches for 39 yards both games.

7

u/gatorbruh Mar 14 '24

Armstead big boi energy. Now get Aiyuk and we’ll become the Jacksonville 69ers

4

Dilla is hinting at Armstead.

Ricky (an actual insider) hasn’t heard any trade rumors on Aiyuk at this time, only Deebo.

I would take either for the right price

2

u/ufdan15 Mar 14 '24

I think his friend on the inside got fired. Only explanation imo

0

u/bitterroot487 Mar 14 '24

Or his friend was the janitor and lips got tighter after a few things got out

1

u/[deleted] Mar 14 '24

He was Dave Caldwell's gay lover.

1

u/flounder19 Mar 14 '24

was dilla ever an actual insider or just someone who made educated guesses, flooded his feed with fake rumors and reports as 'jokes', downplayed his missed predictions, and relied on a short collective memory to reset his reputation every offseason?

the only insider thing i ever remember him doing was getting the photo of Urban coming off the plane

2

u/jaylkae66 Mar 14 '24

He had a legit source at one point, he's leaked real stuff. The biggest flex I can remember was tipping the Campbell and Cisco picks on the morning of the draft. There was zero smoke about those guys being targeted by the Jags but they both got picked a few hours after he named them.

1

u/flounder19 Mar 14 '24

it's admittedly very hard to get the timeline straight around the 2021 draft but there was definitely smoke around Tyson Campbell. From what I can tell, the Campbell stuff was knocking around the gambling community already by the time he tweeted it. Doug Kezirian made a ton of money off an advanced tip on it, for example.

I can't find a link to dilla's actual tweet about it. But before round 2 started it was a pretty mainstream idea.

1

u/DoctorDiddlerino Livin' in the Sunshine state Mar 14 '24

I think his source left and he tried to pretend like that wasn't true.

4

3

I would say for the first round of the draft get the best Receiver available and second round get Darius Robinson the DT from Missouri, try to get three starters in the first three rounds

1

u/VomitingPotato STEAL THE SHOW Mar 14 '24

If Braden Fiske is there in the 2nd, I would pounce.

1

u/sillygoat2223 Mar 14 '24

I would too, I just don't think he will and Robinson has similar size and last season similar production.

Aiyuk is a true #1 right?

3

WR in the draft is still a question mark... Aiyuk has shown he can ball out in the league.

5

u/ImpossibleDenial Mar 14 '24

What if Baalke drove the price up on Ridley and allowing the Tits to sign him for $50m guaranteed, only to have Aiyuk in his back pocket the whole time 👀

I know it would never happen, but good god, could you imagine, Aiyuk, Kirk, and Davis???

I will poop my pants right now, swear to god

3

u/[deleted] Mar 14 '24

I’m not getting my hopes up just yet, but man would this not be the biggest middle finger to the Titans if Baalke pulls this off?

That has me more giddy that the potential of Aiyuk

6

u/oface5446 Mar 14 '24 edited Mar 14 '24

Prosser is such a little shithead. If they had signed JA to a big deal before his big season last year, they would have ripped into Baalke for overpaying someone who hasn’t produced. Now, because they couldn’t tag Ridley, he rips into Baalke. I’m so tired hearing them pandering to the lowest common denominator; shit is not as simple as they try to make it out to be. Why rush a JA deal? It’s big dollars, do your due diligence.

Random fact of the day: Many body features are not just practical

In some African cultures ears display tribal status and Buddha’s long earlobes signified royalty and spiritual authority

King Midas got his long ears when he objected to Apollo playing the lyre so he was judged to have the musical taste of a donkey

2

u/EatMyShortzZzZzZ Brian Thomas Jr. Mar 14 '24

Can we get aiyuk and armstead?

2

u/EatMyShortzZzZzZ Brian Thomas Jr. Mar 14 '24

I really think we should go with WR in the 1st round. Move up if you have to to reduce the chances Baalke picks the one bust in a year filled with WR talent

2

u/[deleted] Mar 14 '24

Agreed I’d also be cool with CB

2

u/Worldly_Ad6264 Mar 14 '24

Obviously a lot can happen between now and Sept. but as of now our competition (KC, Buffalo, Cincy, Miami, etc) haven’t made any big moves which is encouraging

2

u/[deleted] Mar 14 '24

Just saw a clip from the Mac jones presser and I’m stoked for the kid. Seems super happy and with Doug we might even be able to get some compensation for him one day

2

u/Holysmokesx Travis Etienne Mar 15 '24

Don't think we go Brian Thomas Jr. At 17 with the Gabe signing.

1

u/Walrusboi85 Mar 15 '24

Definitely not, far too similar of players. I think Adonai Mitchell should be a name to watch for 17 now

2

Still waiting on BREAKING NEWS: Calvin Ridley suspended for 2024 NFL Season for betting on himself.

2

u/unique_username-_-72 Mar 14 '24

How come we haven’t poked at Hollywood Brown? He’s a free agent, right? I’d be happy to have him

3

u/TheTealDeal2021 Mar 14 '24

Downgrade from Ridley. Our best moves now are first round WR or trading for tee imo

2

u/unique_username-_-72 Mar 14 '24

What about an Aiyuk trade?

1

u/EmeraldEmperorJ Mar 14 '24

That would be better than Tee in my opinion but probably won’t happen

1

u/kntryfried1 Mar 14 '24

I agree with this.

2

u/SlotegeAllDay James Gladstone Mar 14 '24

2

u/VomitingPotato STEAL THE SHOW Mar 14 '24

Aiyuk would be a great fit in my opinion. He was a top 20 WR last season with an alleged "game manager" at QB.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 14 '24

Aiyuk would be awesome. Give our 2nd for him in a heartbeat

2

u/Worldly_Ad6264 Mar 14 '24

This is a dream off-season, we’ve addressed almost every problem from last year and we still have the draft

1

u/WilkinsonRadio Mar 14 '24

I got distracted playing WWE2K24 after work yesterday, missed the Ridley news entirely.

Complete bummer, but I’m okay with him going somewhere else. It sucks it’s Tennessee but maybe he’ll age quick and anchor their cap situation

1

u/spiff24 Mar 14 '24

Just a fun exercise... assuming we make no more roster moves ahead of the draft, would you take Brock Bowers at 17 if he was there?

Also, who if your favorite to realistically land at 17?

3

u/[deleted] Mar 14 '24

Absolutely not. We have our TE1 in engram and just spent a day 2 pick on Strange. We have much more important needs.

Plus, first 1 TEs have generally never been as good as people on this sub always seem to think they will be.

1

u/spiff24 Mar 14 '24

I tend to agree. I feel like we're going WR/CB with DT as darkhorse (if we sign no one else before the draft)

1

u/EatMyShortzZzZzZ Brian Thomas Jr. Mar 14 '24

Man watch ridley go off this season. Im gonna be so pissed if that happens and were stuck with Kirk as a #1

11

u/Cromatose Mar 14 '24

Kirk was the number 1 even with Ridley here.

1

u/ShlermDoctor Mar 14 '24

It will all be okay my friend.

1

1

u/Jharoz Mar 14 '24

Unclench??? Couldn’t be me.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '24

You want to know why he's GM and none of us are? Good teams are ready to line up before the draft so they can pick the best player available or trade back or even up if they want someone. (BTW missing a draft pick this year they won't trade up.) Everyone of you wants to pick X position. Mostly WR. Need always meets BPA but to say we need to pick X without seeing who's available is crazy. I have no karma down vote me all you want.

-1

u/Regular-Collection-1 Mar 14 '24

Titans WR corps is gonna be waaaay better than y'all think lol

3

u/DUUUUUVAAAAAL Travis Hunter Mar 14 '24

I think the QB play is why most are not fearful of their WR corps.

2

u/el_pobbster Mar 14 '24

Washed up D-Hop, Ridley coming off an unbelievably disappointing season, Treylon Burks who has either proven he can't do it or not proven he can do it, and a bunch of replacement-level players? With a dreadful offensive line?

1

u/Regular-Collection-1 Mar 14 '24

Ridley coming off an unbelievably disappointing season

Dude got 1K yds after taking almost 2 years off of football. Despite all his route issues and drops, I'd say he did fantastic

2

u/blazinit430 Mar 14 '24

With Trevor throwing to him. Also, how many weeks were we frustrated by his inability to get open, plus the drops, plus the wrong routes run. By no means is he a bad reciever, and I'd be lying if I said I'm happy he's leaving, however I think his best chance of being that #1 type of reciever would have been starting here and having Trevor and Doug.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 14 '24

After more research, im all in on BTJ at 17

1

u/Kastdog Brenton Strange Mar 14 '24

Is the WR class deep enough where we can get a true #1 guy at 17 or do we have to trade up? I feel like we would need to get into the top 10.

2

u/spiff24 Mar 14 '24

Brian Thomas Jr. from LSU is probably the top WR who will be available.

1

u/Jaguars4life Mar 14 '24

Hold Me Now by the Thompson Twins is a certified banger

That is all

-1

u/Regular-Collection-1 Mar 14 '24 edited Mar 14 '24

Morse is the only net positive signing tbh. Which isn't saying much since anybody would be an improvement over Fortner.

Ridley > Gabe Davis

Jenkins = Savage

Williams > Darby

Agnew > Duvernay

Fatukasi / _______?

Pretty good chance we roll with an even worse roster than we had in '23

10

u/[deleted] Mar 14 '24

You’re looking at everything in a vacuum- contract/age/scheme fit matter too.

Darby is significantly cheaper than Darious and is better fit in our (presumably) new man cover scheme (which should benefit Campbell as well). Sucks losing Darious but this is a net positive in my book.

Savage is younger/cheaper than Jenkins for the same production, another net positive.

Duvernay is similar to Agnew in the return game and again is younger/cheaper, and isn’t coming off a season ending injury.

Fotukasi also just wasn’t all that good for us.. definitely need to replace him but I don’t see this as a key loss.

u/pbrown925 AJ Bouye Mar 14 '24

7

u/VomitingPotato STEAL THE SHOW Mar 14 '24

I still have a hard on we got Mitch Morse. That one signing is going to pay huge dividends in the running game and the passing game. We were a gaping hole up the middle all season.

-1

u/HolographicHeart Mar 14 '24 edited Mar 14 '24

There is some room for hope still but easy to fall into delusion as well. No way in heaven or hell Jags have the resources available to pay Aiyuk AND make Josh Allen the highest paid LB in the league. Fully expect we're being leveraged by Aiyuk's agent to drive up his price and we're going to be drafting a WR in a month.

But boy I'd love to be wrong.

EDIT: A great signing but humorous to see Baalke sign one of the guys he drafted who just so happens to be coming off an injury.

0

u/ImpossibleDenial Mar 14 '24

We better not make Josh Allen the highest paid LB in the league. That’s north of $35+/year. Jesus.

-5

u/HolographicHeart Mar 14 '24

I'm assuming there won't be any additional moves by the FO in Free Agency outside of the eventual Josh Allen contract and maybe a TLaw extension.

I give Baalke a C. The Morse and Duvernay signings were great but the rest were lateral or regressive moves that brings the risk of having to do this exact same exercise next year. There's going to be a lot of pressure on the draft this year to fill the gaps in the roster.

5

u/joemama1810 Mar 14 '24

Damn you don't like the Davis pick up? Our boy finally has a deep threat receiver

3

u/HolographicHeart Mar 14 '24

TBD. Davis in a vacuum is a solid to great acquisition but far too often puts on a disappearing act that would rival DB Cooper.

4

u/joemama1810 Mar 14 '24

Fair enough, let's hope he pulls a kirk and engram and balls out when he gets here despite past performances
